Cameroon is DEFINITELY central African.
In every way! 

Music wise, culturally and Geographically.
unless some folks don't know the shape of African countries or
their north, east, west, and south directions. 

anyway Cameroon is all around AWESOME! 

My boyfriend is Cameroonian and gets annoyed when people refer to Cameroon as West African.
Cameroonians see themselves as being central Africa so what's the big deal? They are central African!

Cameroon can be compared to Russia that is in Europe and Asia. Though politically and culturally Russia is in Europe, some parts of Russia fall under Asia. Western Cameroun is west African in nature. I will not be surprised one day to see that Western Cameroon has joined ECOWAS just as Cameroun has joined the Commonwealth.
I will not be surprised if the West of Cameroon pushes for unification with their Igbo and Eastern Nigerian neighbours and kins.

I sincerely hope not.

It's time to set the record straight. Cameroon is part West Africa and part Central Africa both culturally and geographically.

Russia is in both Europe and Asia.

The Western part is both culturally and geographically West Africa.
If you take the whole of Cameroon away from West Africa, then Eastern Nigeria is not West Africa too.

I saw a documentary on cameroon where they where speaking pigeon english that's similar to the one spoken in Nigeria. What part of cameroon could it be? I'm thinking the bamenda area.

I never said the pple from the western part of Cameroon claim to be from Nigeria

some english Cameroonian sitez refer cameroon as a west-central African country

french speaking has absolutely nothing to do with it.
almost HALF of west Africa speaks french 

and anyway there are southern cameroonians closer to the
inner most central african region that speak english. so wtf
does language have to do with geography? cameroon is a central

I don't understand how this proves that Cameroon is "central African" (whatever "central" is  ). If Cameroon is central African, then half of Nigeria is in central Africa, and not West Africa.

These demarcations are somewhat arbitrary.

Administered with/from Nigeria, but not part of. The Northern part (I guess Adamawa State + some other bits) voted to join Nigeria in a referendum. The southern part voted to join Cameroon.

Their first option would have been outright independence though, I believe.
