This is what enlightened citizens should focus on this week and going forward (since security is a lost cause)...
Why the downing of a single power transmission tower 600 kilometres from where I am will leave me without power for almost 48 hours.
For me it is unimaginable that such a thing can happen in 2022 and makes me feel that such strategic vulnerability is opening a new chapter in the myriad of wars being fought against the Nigeria state.

For where you have an abundance of dissidents, agitators, separatists all angling to hurt this country and drag us all into focusing on their warped causes, the infrastructure of this country may slowly become the new battleground and this is really scary.
Years ago this kind of thing was only heard in the Delta with oil and gas installations. A few days ago trains were attacked.... what next.

I just hope these dark fellows do not get the memo and target the obviously vulnerable power infrastructure which is strewn across the country and firmly embedded in the 'forest' where they are practically 'un-defendable'.
The onus is on the government to start thinking and quickly acting to strengthen the power grid and create multiple redundancies to ensure that a single incident does not and cannot bring the whole system down.

Whatever sentiment has caused us to place 'all our eggs in one vulnerable power basket' should be set aside. Let us properly liberalise the power sector, top down. It is clear this sector cannot become an industry in the forseeable future. There is just not enough investment coming in to bolster it so like the provision of pipe borne water in Nigeria, the government should allow everyone and anyone to generate, transmit and distribute power till a time comes when there is enough capacity to regulate.

But what we have right now is a 'David and Goliath' scenario where a hunter in Damaturu can aim for a bird on an HV line....miss.... and send us all into darkness for a season..... or am I missing something in my scary, exaggerated painting.

We should be reminded that we are in massive debt brought upon us by our failed political elite.

All these callous behaviors are being sponsored by politicians so that at the end of the day they will say Buhari is not working, how can your hatred for one person run you so mad to the extent that you destroy the critical infrastructure that has been built for our collective social wellbeing, very soon this man will leave the central Stage and it is only then that you will realize the ripple effect of what you are doing

It's absolute foolishness for a country as big as Nigeria to have a single national grid
The grid is a collection of all the major power generated taken to Oshogbo, National Control Center from where it is transmitted across the Nation. The purpose of this is to have a uniform frequency and ensure continuity in case some are out of service.
However, some situations like this are special cases and they have strong reasons for total shutdown. This act is devilish and extremely dangerous..

Who would dare going closer to their facilities when there's constant Power supplies.

Tax Payers bought facilities for them

They refused to render effective service to the Tax Payers

Tax Payers went back to take their facilties

And now they're complaining grin

That's the judgements

We don't Know who's doing it but there's no motive for ordinary citizen to destroy power infrastructure without theft.

It's really a shame Nigerians can no longer trust their govt.

What kind of sabotage are they talking about, did someone just pull the mask down or those Hausa Fulanis iron scavengers at work or did the mask fall down due to lack of maintenance or weakness. I don't understand!

Aboki condemned iron people. They lose the metal members of the tower to sell to smelters

With gradual vandalism, the integrity of d structure weakens and give way when small breeze blows

Instead of asking for unity only.

Why not question the relevance of Nigeria's Electricity architecture?
Why should a power plant based in Akwa Ibom affect the entire country?

Nigeria must decentralise its infrastructure and security architecture immediately.

You know nothing about power generation and transmission. Pls shut up. Taken to which Oshogbo?

The grid system is an interconnected lines at 330kv level in a ring pattern, could be radial also but Nigeria use ring. Powers are generated and fed into d ring by various power stations, NCC osogbo only monitors and allocate the load to each disco N ensure there is balance between what is fed in and what is taken out. Any imbalance causes collapse. In this case, the break in the ring causes sharp load consumption drop, which results in imbalance and collapse

This is one of the reason we need to decentralise our infrastructures or practice regional government because if my region decided to be stupid it should not hold back the development of other regions and if other region decided to be stupid also it should not hold back my region also. Like what we are presently experiencing, when one region decided to be terrorist and all other region need to wait for them to sort their self out b4 rest of us can progress

The culprits can't be far from those that stand to benefit financially, vandalization means funds disbursement for repair definitely some people will be smiling to the bank.
As much as i don't trust pdp i don't see how power outage benefit them infact with all challenges rocking naija presently any opposition need not do any other than just campaign ... APC is worst than a mistake

Chief, no one can understand the logic of Nigeria.

The North has hydro, solar and wind, the South has oil, gas and solar each region should localise its energy needs.

The reason why decentralisation and restructuring are now very important is that one region is subsiding the poverty of other regions.

The Govt is still to be blame, when the govt makes life unbearable for the citizens , crime rates increases... All these all lame excuses from the govt, after they have failed the people... Look at Ukraine, see the way the citizens are ready to die for their country , which is also because their leaders have not failed them, but can that be said for Nigeria if any country dare invade Nigeria ... Infact that would be another opportunity for many to leave, and I am sure some would even join the Invaders to fight their country Nigeria ...Our leaders need to wake up
