ConfirmBlog:
Yes, power bank can spoil not just your battery but even the charging ic. And these are the cause.

1. Bad quality power bank

2. Your Power Bank Has The Wrong Voltage
Having the wrong voltage in your power bank will lead to problems. The ideal voltage to charge a phone is 5V. If any power bank gives a voltage of 4.2V or less, it will drain your battery instead of charging it.

Any voltage output greater than 5V will extensively damage your phone’s circuits by overloading it more than it can handle.

3. You Are Overcharging:
Power banks should essentially be used sparingly. Using power banks to constantly keep your phone at 100% charge will over time damage the battery, which will lead to your phone not being able to retain its charge for long.

To avoid these problems, avoid using your power bank to overcharge your phone. Use it for emergencies, and even when you do use it avoid charging your phone up to 100%.h

Thread closed as there's nothing further to add to this cheesy

Use quality powerbanks if and when only required,it doesnt supply the right output to optimise charge your phone, so persistent use will not only damage your phone battery but also your phone charging system, and by extension, your phone.

Yeah, mediocre quality powerbank can damage your phone battery, I'll recommend the oraimo 27,000mah powerbank, got mine via the link below and I've never regretted it.

This power bank is not okay at all, I bought it not less than 3 months if has swelled up. Also it drains faster than expected.. I only use it to power my portable fan now.
And before you say fake, I bought it from a reputable store.

Hello guys, so I went to fix my phone charging port today and the phone repairer advised me against charging constantly with a power bank. According to him, it could spoil a phones battery.. How true is this? Have you had any personal experience?

If your charging port got damaged, that's as a result of the way you input the charge to your phone....

Maybe, Maybe not.
It depends on the quality, some people go for cheap products.
Even fake chargers can spoil your phone.

I use powerbank from day 1 I bought my phone, redmiN7.
I have used Powerbank more , almost 3yrs now, no noticeable battery issue.

Most people don't know how to use some devices.

I don't charge my battery to 100% , 90% or less is okay.

Better to maintain your battery between 10% - 90%

When phone is hot, stop using it, allow it to rest.

Read more in lithium battery maintenance.

Worst case: your phone is 100%, plugged in, and you keep using it, even with elevated temperature, you have damaged the battery.

You receive a stable and consistent wattage, from your powerbank..........

What NEPA/DISCO supplies, is very erratic and puts your device at risk ........
Funny, my phone repairer told me the direct opposite

very true when i bought a slot power bank the power bank swelled up but since it was working until one day the phone was charging the power bank then i used a charger but it didn't work

You may actually have been very very lucky.

Most rechargeable batteries are made of lithium.

Thermal runaway is one of the primary risks related to lithium-ion batteries. It is a phenomenon in which the lithium-ion cell enters an uncontrollable, self-heating state. Thermal runaway can result in: Ejection of gas, shrapnel and/or particulates (violent cell venting)

When a battery swells, it is because its casing has contained a thermal runway incident.

This is one of the biggest risks of all these chinko batteries and is also why you sometimes see videos of people with phones on fire.

Your power bank could literally have blown up and set you or your house on fire
