My church has been searching me with that electronic gadget as you called it since after Boko Haram attacked my church on April 29 2014 at chapel of Victory, Bayero University Kano. Yes it's discomforting at times but it's a good proactive measure and if you value your security you won't have an issue with it. It's not like it'll stop bullets from entering your body but at least it gives a kind of satisfaction knowing that they care about the security of their members. It will not discourage anybody. You are saying this because it is a new measure in your church. I attend The Fountain of Life church in Ilupeju and I can't recall when we started the security check you talked about up there. It has been a long time ago that they do that security check and it has not discouraged members because we all understand that it's for our safety. I started attending that church since 2017 and the security check has been there before I started attending.

Whether you are an old member or not, you submit yourselves to the check.

Sweetheart God exists. I'm living proof of His miracles and existence in my life. I could have been dead multiple times in my life, especially 7 years ago but God keeps saving me with His inexplicable Grace.
