Yes my lady did it, focus on the class and participate, what you should do:

Focus on UI/UX Research Journey, Personas and Case Studies, then you should learn Adobe XD and Figma, with time you will be given assignments, continue to do them and build your Dribbble and Behance Profile as you get good, then you can start applying for jobs and doing side-gigs.

By the way, you don’t necessarily need to be a college grad to get hired.

The thing is, Stutern is probably the best hands-on learning platform you can get as a beginner, that also allows you to have your time to yourself. So the money is totally worth it. It may look expensive but you can't be expecting to earn a lot from a career that doesn't take a lot from you.

I would advise you to focus a not lose hope, try to apply for internships before or after the programme has ended, even if the pay is small.

Join DevCenter Slack, find it via Google and create an account. That is if you don't have an account already. Go to their jobs section and you will find lots of jobs posted daily, always check daily for posted jobs and you will definitely find one.

Also don't focus on getting remote jobs for now, no matter what anyone says. You need to first build your skills first with local Nigerian companies willing to give you a chance. so you don't get disappointed and crush your hopes.

Also make sure you have some good real world experience and a lot of portfolio in UI/UX before you try to relocate to another country. Relocating without no good grounded Tech experience as a tech person will frustrate you.

When you have good portfolio after some 6 months or a year, then you can try joining Upwork for freelance experience.

Yes, but they give exceptions for people who have very good portfolios. Once that is good, then they can't ignore you anymore.

pls how did u apply, I'm learning on YouTube and I want something professional, wanted to go for Google's UI and ux design course but the reviews aren't good.

I'm really impressed and inspired by your post, I'm following another thread by pocohantas and I must confess that both of you have set a standard that other ladies on this site should emulate. There's this dude saying it was sponsored by a man, even if it was(which is none of my business) at least you were smart enough to choose something that will set you on the path of financial freedom. I was reading online recently that of all the jobs available in Canada, tech roles are over 50% and they don't have enough people to fill in the vacancies hence the need for immigrants with the knowledge. I started learning coding with python recently, the funds are not readily available so I'm making use of freecodecamp.org. hopefully I'll be able to afford something from coursera etc. Wishing you best of luck in your endeavour
