What about ALL the TELEVISION programs that are produced in India and the Philipines and then voice-dubbed by Nigerian artists?

Is this the best way to solve the issue?

Why not add more requirements and increase the fees for ads with foreign artist, voice overs and contents?

That way, you encourage clients to go local, and also make more revenue if they insist on foreign names

Bluntguy:

Your recommendations can only be implemented next year if you vote for Peter Obi. Left for Tinubu, he will continue where Buhari stops.

Sadly you just scored an own goal with this comment of yours. And sincerely if you both were to be a campaign manager for Peter Òbí, you just scored him a negative rating.

How on earth will you be in support of capital flight when that press release clearly demands for foreign advertisers to patronise local content for adverts targeted at Nigerian audience rather than using foreign content producers?

Painfully, it was this blind sentiment by GEJists that made me to disagree with them so much that time. Their support for GEJ became so morbid at that time that they saw no wrong in whatever he does even when it was clear he did wrong.

And before you try to argue with me, 2015, I supported Buhari because GEJ left Nigerians with no choice as he (GEJ) was at that point a very wrong person to occupy that position. I was a strong supporter of GEJ being sworn in as substantial president at Yar'Adua's demise and of course I also voted for him in the 2011 elections.

And of course the moment it was becoming apparent that Buhari was an anathema to that position 6 months into his first term, I also reserved the right to nurture my doubts about him. I didn't go on a sentimental blindness insanity to defend him even when he was doing wrong.

I disagree . Let them use local content . The fact that most adverts are made abroad isn’t a good one for the country . Let these companies pay local models and content creators so that the money will flow within . Do you know the billions in dollars a lot of these companies use in ads ? If just 60 percent of that money goes to Nigerians , it will be good for our economy .
Nigerian youths should see this as an opportunity to start Ad agencies and build great companies . No be every time criticism.

A Pepsi advert with Messi will sell more than one with Burna Boy

Instead of banning Messi's own, make it more expensive. Its either they settle for Burna or pay higher. Either way, it favours you.

We have tried this path of banning and adopting local products. Yet, it didn't change much.

And they will not ban foreign loans.

Very useless entities we have as leaders.

As in. Almost like a bot. Wetin concern voting Peter Obi for this matter? They would soon say women should vote PO to reduce labour pains.

@Pocohantas. I like your play on words. Wonderful pun on the word labour. Very very true that the more women who vote for Peter Obi the less the pains of the Labour Party. You are awesome

A good way to increase patronage of local contents, it should spread to other areas too, so can employment rate can increase and the youths can be encouraged too.

We depend too much on foreign things, that we assume them as superior.
If foreigners start banning you now, you'll start shouting racism. Creating different threads on social media to attack them.

I don't think I've ever seen any Nigeria company using a white model to advertise to Nigeria market. No advertisement agency will do that.

Kulfi, The Heiress. I don't watch too much Indian television dramas. But nearly every popular Indian television drama series on Startimes is dubbed into Hausa. The money spent on those voice dubs into Nigerian languages could be given to Nigerian actors to produce Nigerian content

Do all Nigerians like Messi ? No ! Are there Nigerian footballers with National appeal ? Yes ! The target market of Pepsi should be Nigerians . Not Messi fans . So it will be good if the money given to Messi goes to that Nigerian player.
I understand what you are trying to say though . But do you realize that Pepsi has enough money to pay whatever the added cost of using Messi to the detriment of local models ? Just by using a Nigerian model and content creator , resources will flow into the industry and help boost the sector while the Ad budget of Pepsi won’t be that high .

Then exorbitantly charge them and move on.

If Pepsi can afford it, another person won't
obviously.

Because we want to promote local content, doesn't mean we should outrightly ban foreign ones.
