I gat you big, man. Although I must air my opinion as regards the last book. I was actually offed by the last few updates of the book. I think you were a little bit unfair with the Vampires. You make them seem weak and inferior. A little twist would have given the book a grand ending. Some loss recorded on the werewolves' end would have been just perfect. Imagine killing off Mandy, Dahlia, and maybe Verona or June. Also, I feel Dominic didn't live up to being that fearsome vampire. Why would he die without putting up much of a fight?

Anyways, I want to believe that's not you writing in those last chapters. You have let your emotions and that of your readers get in your way. Because the Everton I know will never give such an ending to a great story.

Tell you what bro, finishing with the unexpected is what makes a great story. So please try and tweak some things before you go live with the book.

Always rooting for you, man!!!
Thanks, man. You were right. I let the emotions of readers get to me. I'll work on that next time cheesy wink

Wait, Everton did I ever tell you, your dialogues are top-notch?

I think it is one of your strongest suits as a writer aside from your plot and narrative style. Anytime I read the dialogues in your story, I'm just wowed, and I can't help thinking if you're a Nigerian or not.

Anyways, I guess it's time to reveal that.

Btw, I've only read five chapters of the Full Moon, and I am quite certain it's gonna be a superb read. Gat me feeling the vibes of the dark mysteries already with the hints of horror, superstition, and cheekiness.

One question though, have you by any chance read any of these authors; Douglas Clegg and Dean Koontz?

At the first bolded, no you haven't. You've only mentioned my narrative style. smiley

At the second bolded, no. I've only read books by R.L Stevenson, James Hadley Chase and my favourite author, Stephen King cheesy cheesy

Chapter 6

An hour had passed since the siblings stepped into the woods. Shane was getting weary and a bit irritated at this point. Not because they had gotten nothing out of the patrol but because of the silence and Sam’s unusual absent mindedness. For the past hour Sam had not said anything. Looking carefully more, Shane could tell that something weighed on his mind.
Sam’s eyes barely strayed away from the front. The lines of his forehead became visible as he frowned in thought trying to process all that happened today. He couldn’t forget the look on Mark’s face when he pleaded with everyone to leave the place. He had to be on to something. Was he telling the truth about werewolves? Did they exist? And then there was the issue of that afternoon. The grey wolf he saw in the same woods. Could it have been?
Sam mentally shook his head in disagreement. From what he knew and from what Mark said werewolves only appeared on the night of a full moon. Sam glanced up momentarily in worry at the full moon just at the same time a cold breeze wafted around him. Another thing to consider was the wolf he saw earlier. It didn’t have the menacing aura of a werewolf although from the look he got from it, it looked like it was trying to warn him. Was the wolf aware of…..
“Sam!”
Sam snapped back to reality at the sound of his name. He looked sideways to Shane giving him a perplexed look.
“ What?” He blinked.
“What’s wrong with you? I’ve been calling your name for ages.” Shane said.
“Oh.”
“So can you explain what happened back there?” Shane tilted his head backwards.
“You mean what the old man said? What else am I going to explain? What he said is what we all heard.” Sam shrugged.
“That’s not what I mean.” Shane had stopped in his stride. Sam stopped along and gave him a questioning look.
“What I mean is about you, little bro.” Shane continued with a sigh. “You seemed to be buying into what that old geezer is selling. Even before we got to this place, you started acting weird when you saw this place on my laptop. I remember when we were kids. I taught you a lot about ghosts, spirits and stuffs. I told you they were all a bunch of bull. And you believed me. Now twenty years later, you seem to be backtracking. You’re twenty five years for Bleep’s sake!! And you believe in werewolves?! What the actual Bleep?! What changed?! What happened to my little brother?!”
Shane’s voice rose with every word he spoke and it hit Sam hard. The detective cringed and he looked away. Shane took a deep breath then sighed.
“What changed?” He repeated in a calmer voice.
“I really don’t know, Shane.” Sam sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “ I guess it all started from the nightmares….”
“Nightmares?” Shane’s expression shifted to surprise.
“Yeah.” Sam nodded. “Remember those times when we were younger and I usually come to your room pleading with you to let me stay for the night.”
Shane nodded.
“It’s hard not to. It was almost an everyday occurrence.” He said.
“Yeah. The thing is those nightmares were almost the same. I was always seeing some kind of weird stuff. And I mean weird. I couldn’t really picture some of the images, but they kept on getting worse. It kind of felt like a message or something. I can’t really say. I didn’t want to tell you back then because it would have gone against everything you taught me. Mom and Dad usually said it was a vision or that kind of stuff.” Sam rubbed his palm over his forehead.
Shane nodded but said nothing. He had no idea what to make of the whole thing. He and Sam had been very close as kids. Their parents paid more attention to Sam and adored him considering him the perfect angel. It wasn’t to say they did not care about Shane, but they didn’t see him in the same light as their beloved Sam. As much as Shane cared about his brother, it stung him bitterly to see him hug all the love and attention to himself. It hurt so much that he turned to the one thing that could bring him relief :Weed. He was introduced to it in high school at the age of 16 by Eddie and the addiction began. Then came their parents death by a car crash. The news was broken at the worst time to the brothers when they planned a surprise birthday for their mother. Shane was almost catatonic and Sam had mourned for days.
As the years went by, the brothers drifted and handled their loss in different ways. Shane’s addiction to the contraband drug and women grew. Sam grew determined to be an enforcer of the law. Gone was his playful and happy spirit along with their parents.
“Then there was a time Dad said he went on a tourism trip to this place years ago.” Sam said. “Well, not this place exactly, but this city. He said something about unusual occurrences and weird stuff people told him but he didn’t really bother.”
“Dad told you this?” Shane asked, bewildered. Then his calm façade returned. Of course, their dad wouldn’t involve him in that kind of conversation.
“Yes, he did.” Sam replied. “My nightmares, then the rumors I got from one of my colleagues at work, what Dad said, and then what Mark said, it all adds up. This place is messed up.”
He paused and scanned the woods. It was silent now. The nocturnal creatures even seemed to agree as they were unbelievably non-active.
“And to tell you the truth, this gun I hold is loaded with silver bullets.” He added.
“Say what now?” Shane raised an eyebrow.
“I know it sounds weird but that’s not all. I got stakes, garlic, holy..” Sam continued.
“Okay that is all I need to know.’’ Shane raised an hand.
“There are still lots more in my house. If you ever change your mind on these things, my key is under the door mat.” Sam said grimly.
Shane stared at him blankly
“Just saying.” Sam shrugged.
“Well, it doesn’t change my stance on this whole paranormal voodoo shit.” Shane shook his head wryly. “But one thing is certain.”
“What’s that?” Sam asked.
“I’m really glad you came along.” Shane said. “It’s been ages we did something like this.”
Sam scanned his brother’s face to see if there was any trace of a joke in that statement. But he didn’t see any. The smile on Shane’s face was genuine.
Sam began to crack a smile of his own, when a noise startled them from a few feet away to their right by a hedge. The leaves began to shake. Sam narrowed his eyes and pulled out his gun. Shane backed up a bit, letting his brother lead the way towards the hedge. On every step Sam took, his heartbeat doubled. Shane swallowed hard as he measured his own steps, cold sweat forming across his forehead. The leaves began to shake even more. Sam stretched out his hand towards it…
Just then a white rabbit jumped out from it and scurried between them. Shane nearly lost his balance as the little rodent crossed his feet and took off to the opposite direction. They sighed in relief as the tension was broken.
“Fucking bunny.” Shane chuckled nervously.
Sam opened his mouth to reply, but his eyes spotted something. When the rabbit had jumped out from the hedge, it had inadvertently revealed a pathway to another section of the woods. Sam parted the hedge fully and the way became clearer.
“Hold on a minute, I never saw this place earlier.” Sam’s eyes zoned in sharply at the pathway.
He walked along the pathway, Shane following behind. Just then the two spotted something by the base of a tree. Moving closer, they discovered it was a green bag.
“Wait a fucking minute.” Shane’s eyes widened in recognition as he bent down to inspect it. “I know this bag! I’ve seen it before. It was with that guy who followed that old geezer that told us that weird fairytale. His son. What was his name again? Marcel?....Marco?...”
“Michael.” Sam’s answer was shrill. His voice was laced with a bit of fear.
“Yeah, that’s it.” Shane snapped his fingers and stood up to face his brother.
He was surprised to see that while Sam had given him the answer, he didn’t look at him while he did so. Instead his attention was on the tree trunk. Shane followed his gaze and nearly fell from shock.
Right on the trunk of the tree were different large claw marks. Sam touched them and noticed they were deep meaning it hadn’t been long they were made.
“This can’t be real.” He muttered.
“Little bro?” Shane swallowed as his eyes darted to the other side of the tree. Sam looked along and blanched.
Large footprints were imprinted on the muddy ground. They were inhuman and abnormally shaped. Their eyes followed the trail of the footsteps and they discovered one thing. It led to a another route back to the cabin.
The cabin where their friends were camped beside.
“Shit!” Shane cursed in utter shock, his face as white as a ghost.
Only one thing became clear to them. Danger was approaching.
And with that, they sprinted towards the cabin.

*****************************************************
Juliana woke up with a start. The stirring at her loins was a signal for nature’s call. Falling asleep wasn’t easy either. She had tossed and turned all through the long while since the brothers had left the camp. It was so annoying sleeping without the warmth of her lover.
Stepping outside, she stretched a bit and let out a yawn. The night was cold and she cursed herself for not bringing a jacket. She glanced over at the tent Eddie and Agnes shared and smiled slyly on seeing it shake violently. Something was definitely going on. Moving past, she resisted the urge to peek into the other tent. She knew who was inside.
Just then she heard footsteps. She smiled and turned around as they got closer. Her smile dropped when she noticed that they were heavier than normal.
“Shane?” She said in a low voice.
The footsteps stopped.
“Sam?” She tried again.
She peered into the darkness from where the noise came from. She squinted her eyes but couldn’t see anything. Suddenly two golden dots appeared from the darkness. Juliana could barely hold her breath. She shifted a bit backwards as the golden dots revealed to be eyes. The owner of the eyes soon came into the light. Juliana screamed as it moved swiftly towards her.

Don't make it next time, please. The final chapters of Dominic's bane need a rewrite. I feel Jeremy and Mandy's uncle need to lose someone and live with the hurts all the rest of their lives, too.

Chapter 7

The scream rattled the camp. Eddie and Agnes came out of their tents. Harry following not soon after. Just then the three stood rooted on the spot in utter fright. The silence was nearly chilling as the three stared at the gruesome sight in front of them.
“Right there!”
They heard a voice and a couple of footsteps. Just then Shane and Sam entered the camp site almost out of breath. Just like the trio, the brothers stopped and Shane nearly fell down from fright. He trembled in shock and fear at what he met. Sam barely uttered a word. His grip on his gun nearly loosened.
Standing over Juliana’s now lifeless body was the very monster of darkness told in the tales by Mark. The very evil Sam feared and Shane declared as a myth.
A black werewolf stood over the body of its victim . It’s growls sent a chill towards the five members. It’s muzzle was stained with blood and it’s lips dribbled with drool. Everyone could barely make a move. This werewolf was nothing like they imagined. It stood like a human and almost 8 feet to be precise. It’s large body was decorated with hard muscle. Long claws sprouted out of its hands and hind legs. It bared it’s large and sharp teeth at them.
It took almost eternity for Shane to find his voice. He turned towards his brother who was still holding his gun and standing petrified like a statue. And he remembered something. The gun was loaded with silver bullets
"Sam, shoot it!" Shane yelled.
Sam did nothing. He was still in a trance.
“Shoot it, for Bleep’s sake!” Shane yelled again, louder.
Sam jerked out from his trance and with shaky hands, he aimed and fired. He missed atrociously as the bullet wheezed past the beast and grazed the trunk of a tree.
Growling, the werewolf charged in the opposite direction and leapt, knocking down Eddie and Harry. Agnes screamed as it made it’s way into the forest.
“What the hell” Shane stared at his brother in surprise. A look which admonished him for missing his shot.
Sam ignored him and took off in the following direction the werewolf went. Shane followed behind and stopped momentarily to check on Eddie who was just getting to his feet.
“Are you okay?” He asked
“Yeah” Eddie groaned a bit. “Landed on my ribs though.”
He turned to Harry and saw a scratch on his wrist. Harry wringed his hand and avoided his stares. Shane narrowed his eyes and took off after his brother.
In no time he got to the middle of the woods and spotted Sam standing with his hands clenched tightly around his weapon. His face scanned the woods.
“Sam..” Shane rushed towards him
Sam put a hand to his lips signaling him to be quiet. Shane comprehended and nodded. The two walked further side to side. Just then they heard a snapping of a twig. They turned towards the direction but saw nothing. They looked around and saw nothing either. The woods suddenly became silent. A silence that the brothers new so well. A silence that meant something horrible was to come.
Just then, they heard another sound, this one different. It sounded like the weight of someone or something balanced on the branch of a tree. Sam walked a few feet from Shane and looked around. It was then that Shane saw it.
“Sam! Up there!” Shane cried out, pointing upwards.
Sam turned around in time to see the beast staring downwards at him from the top of a tree. It took off from the branch, propelling it’s feet and jumped downwards towards him. Sam narrowed his eyes and shot it. This time he didn’t miss. There was a loud yelp of pain as the silver bullet hit the werewolf directly at the heart. The beast stumbled and fell backwards, falling on it’s back at the base of a tree. The two brothers quickly rushed towards it and inspected it. It was dead.
Before any of them could take action, they were stunned as it began to shrink in size and revert. Their eyes widened as it vanished.
And in it’s spot lay the dead body of someone they just met. Someone they were barely acquainted with.

Michael.

Chapter 8

The graveyard was a flurry of activities. Shane stood in silence and watched as people proceeded out of the place. It was almost dusk as the red sum nearly went down. Shane sighed as he saw some women being led away from a gravestone. A gravestone engraved with the words and details of a familiar person. Someone who had a small place in his life. One of the women that actually mattered in his life. Juliana.
Ever since the werewolf was killed and the details of it was put aside, the gang barely slept. Agnes had hugged the corpse of her best friend bawling her eyes out. Momentarily, she gave Shane stares of death. And he knew what that meant. She blamed their loss on him and he was right. No one slept that night. Either out of fear or sorrow or both. And the nest morning, they had made their way back to the city with Juliana’s body.
Breaking the news to her relative was a daunting task for Shane but he found a way, no less to do it. The reason he gave for her death was a simple one. Animal attack. He had small doubts but they believed him. Sam had resumed with his work as he had a large case to fill. A difficult one as if it was waiting for his absence. Eddie reduced his visits to a minimum and Shane barely heard anything from Agnes. How could he. As for Harry, the day they took Juliana to the city was the last time they heard from him.
“Shane.”
Shane shook his head fro his reverie at the sound of his name. He glanced towards the left and saw Sam approaching. Sam stopped a few inches and they stood side by side. For minutes, they said nothing.
“It was my fault.” Shane said finally.
Sam didn’t reply. Scolding his elder sibling would not do anything.
“You!”
They were startled from an angry yell. They turned around to see Agnes. Her eyes were puffy and she looked like she hadn’t slept in days. They saw Harry standing beside her with his arms folded. Before anyone could say anything, She stomped forward and gave Shane a deafening slap. Sam was stunned a
“This is all your fault, you stupid asshole!” Agnes was yelling uncontrollably. Luckily, the place was deserted by then as all the mourners had left.
“You could have chosen another place. But no you had to go there. You were warned but no, you had to go there.”
“Agnes..” Sam tried to placate her.
“No, Sam, don’t even dare!” She held up her hand. She then returned her gaze to Shane.
“I hope you pay with your own life!” She hissed. Her eyes blazed with rage.
Shane couldn’t reply. His eyes had a solemn and glum edge to them. He avoided her eyes and his gaze landed on Harry who had just reached them. He saw Harry shake his head and could barely make out the sound of his tongue clicking. This time, Shane couldn’t make a comment. This wasn’t the time. He was the wrong one.
Just before Shane could turn his eyes away, he glanced down at the scratch at Harry’s arm. The scratch he got when the werewolf knocked him and Eddie down. His eyes narrowed a bit.

**************************************

Mark stood at a make shift grave. A grave with a cross shaped stick mounted at the head. He bowed his head and muttered a silent prayer. When he raised his head up, his eyes were downcast and had bags under them. He stared at the someone lost. Like someone who had no direction.
Just then he heard small and dainty footsteps behind him.
“Its good that you came.” He didn’t bother turning around. “I thought you might not want to see this.”
“I knew it was only a matter before things got out of hand. I never thought it will be this soon. And I never thought it will be in this generation.” The voice sounded feminine.
Mark didn’t reply.
“Is there something on your mind?” The person asked.
“Something doesn’t feel right.” Mark replied and a worried gaze appeared on his face.
“I don’t just know how but something is wrong somewhere.”

Chapter 9

The sounds of loud music came from the loud speaker in the living room. Strong smell of marijuana filled the air.
Shane and Eddie sat beside each other as they cheered at the three women who danced to the loud music as their source of entertainment. It had been a month since Juliana’s death. Although Shane tried to believe he moved on, it was impossible. He had been broody and he needed a distraction from his guilt. As well as something to swing his mind in another direction. And there he had it. Different women who came to entertain him in more ways than possible. Additionally he had contacted his dealer for more supplies of weed and the latter was none too happy to oblige.
“That’s it, baby. Move those hips!” Shane cheered again at a busty topless woman who wore nothing but a pair of red panties and heels. Dressed like the remaining two women.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Eddie grumbled and walked over to open it. Shane noticed him standing still blocking his view from seeing ho knocked. He couldn’t tell what expression his friend had so he yelled.
“Eddie! Who the Bleep is that?!”
Eddie sighed and stood aside for Shane to get a look. On seeing who it was, Shane stood up with fury. It was Harry with a nervous smile. He stood calmly with his hands in his pocket.
“Oh, hell to the fucking no!” Shane cried. “What the Bleep are you doing here?”
Harry sighed and walked in fully.
“Look, I’m sorry for coming here like this.” He said. “ But the whole thing that has happened really hurts too. I just want to put this behind us. Whatever caused the beef between us is gone and I think it’s time we started afresh.”
Shane narrowed his eyes at Harry to see if there was any trace of a lie. He didn’t see any. Harry didn’t avoid his eyes. He looked at him straight in the eye, sending a message that he was sincere.
He thought about it. Juliana was gone. Then again even if she wasn’t, it made no sense to be fighting over a woman. Shane nodded to him.
“Alright, man. We’re good.” He smiled. “Come in and join the fun.”
“Harry’s eyes widened as soon as he saw the topless women. He quickly jumped on the sofa and picked up a newly made roll of weed.
“Now that’s the shit.” He sighed blissfully. “Please tell me the party hasn’t gone far.”
“No, man.” Shane grinned. “You’re right on time.”
Eddie chuckled and shut the door.
Hours had gone by and the trio had no intention of leaving. They had received all sort of pleasure from the women who were now fully naked. By now they could barely see anything nor could their brains process anything.
Shane had reached the point of no return. His mind had gone hazy and his vision seemed even blurry.
The door suddenly burst open, startling everyone, and there stood Sam in his uniform. Shane squinted his eyes a bit, frowning in confusion. Then when his eyes adjusted a bit, he grinned.
“Hey, little bro!” He piped.
Sam had a look of surprise as he scanned around the living room. The look soon changed into anger and he entered into the living room and turned off the stereo, receiving loud protests.
“Really, Shane?” He faced his brother. “This is what you’re doing now.”
He turned to the naked ladies and shielded his eyes.
“Leave this place.” He commanded.
They complied without hesitation and within minutes, they had dressed up and scurried out.
“Did you really have to spoil the fun?” Shane grumbled although he could barely get up. His remaining partners in crime were not better off. Eddie was almost on the way to dreamland and Harry kept on muttering incoherently.
“No, Shane. Not today. You didn’t do great today. There has been noise complaints from the neighbors. You know it would be worse if my colleagues came here and saw… this.” Sam retorted, gesturing to the mess on the table.
“Oh come on, little bro.” Shane argued weakly. “What’s the worse that could happen? You could put in a good word for me in my defense.”
“And what am I to tell them? That you should be let off the hook because you’re my brother?” Sam said in a sarcastic fashion.
“Whatever” Shane huffed and looked away.
Turning to Eddie and Harry, Sam sighed exasperatedly and rubbed his forehead.
“You two, come with me. I’m dropping you off.” He ordered.
Muttering all sorts of gibberish, they stood up with wobbly feet and Sam walked them out of the house. Before he closed the door, he glanced at Shane who had passed out on the sofa. He sighed and closed the door.

***********************************************
It was about 11pm when Sam stepped out of the coffee shop. Today was one of his most hectic days. The stress of handling out cases and then trying to sort out his bone headed brother and friends who nearly got themselves in trouble.
He stared upwards at the sky. The full moon was out and it’s beauty decorated the sky along with millions of stars. A chill wind blew past and he shivered, cursing himself for forgetting his jacket at the office. This again was as a result of his brother’s carelessness.
“He never learns.” Sam muttered under his breath. “Sometimes I wonder why I’m the younger sibling.”
The place was deserted and quiet. As it would normally be at that kind of hour. Sam walked towards his car and opened it. Barely stifling a yawn, he was about to open it when a loud thud shook the ground few feet behind him.
The hairs on his neck stood as he felt a breath on his neck. His eyes widened as he saw the large shadow towering his across the car. The shape of the shadow was inhuman. Peering at the glass of his car, his face turned pale as he caught the dark reflection behind him. Just at the head of the reflection were two golden eyes. Two golden deadly eyes that he had seen before. He quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out his gun. But he was never given the chance to turn around.
It was too late.

Chapter 10

Shane pressed the doorbell with a wide smile on his face. There was a reason to smile that day. After the events of the previous night, he woke up with a banging headache. He checked his phone and saw messages. Many of them were from his Follows whom he really paid no mind. But then one message stood out. The last one. The message from the woman who helped him with the deal to sell the latest car. This time she had another proposal. Shane had barely set his living room straight and ran over to his bathroom. A hot shower later, he was ready and made his way out of the house.
The sound of footsteps made his smile widen and soon enough it was opened by a woman in her late forties.
The woman wore a purple bathrobe with the sash tied loosely around the waist revealing a lot of bare flesh to his pleasure. She looked like 10 years were subtracted from her age. The effects of marrying an influential man. From the standard of the house, it was obvious that the man was well loaded. The woman had wavy red hair, brown seductive eyes and plump red lips.
“Hey, baby boy.” She purred and pulled him in, then locked lips with him.
“Hey, Jaime.” Shane smiled as soon as they came up for air. “Your husband in.?”
“No I wouldn’t bring you here if he was.” She raised her well shaped eyebrow. “I got a proposal for you.”
“Don’t I know it.” He waggled his eyebrows at her and she giggled.
She led him into the large living room and Shane’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. This would be the first time he would step into the house and he was so glad he did. The walls were wade of solid gold and to the corner were crystal steps that led upstairs.
“Wow.” Shane whistled.
“So, here is the deal.” Jaime said as soon as they sat down. “ I want you help me out with another model?”
“Which one?” Shane asked.
“The 2021 Cadillac Escalade” She grinned.
“Holy Bleep!” Shane nearly fell off his seat in surprise. “For real?”
She nodded.
“Hold on a minute.” He put his hand up. “What’s my commission?”
“45%” She replied, smiled.
“You’re pulling my legs.” Shane said.
“I’m not. Although the only leg I want to pull is the third one. If you get my drift.” She teased as she ran her finger along the inside of his thigh and dangerously up close.
“Be serious.” Shane held her hand and laughed.
“I am.” She said.
“Deal.” Shane didn’t even give it a second thought.
“It’s official then. I’ll give you more details.” She said.
“Come on.” She held his hands and pulled him up. “Let’s celebrate.”
The grin didn’t leave Shane’s face as she pulled him towards the stairs and upwards to her room. His blessings came in double. He was about to be a millionaire and bed a hot cougar in one soop. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

Shane stopped by his house later that evening. He opened the door and stepped out to see someone in front of his door. On getting closer, he discovered it was a woman in a police uniform and her face was facing the other direction away from him. She turned around and faced him and Shane finally saw her features.
She had black straight hair tied in a ponytail. She had dark grey eyes that always had a spark of suspicion in them and red narrow lips.
“Hello Officer.” Shane smiled casually as he stood in front of her. “Any problem?”
He then remembered yesterday. The squabble he had with his brother. Could he have ratted him out? He quickly shook his head inwardly. Sam was a moralist but he still valued family.
Shane saw the slightly worried and pensive look on her face and his smile disappeared.
“Are you Shane Carter?” She asked hesitantly.
“Yeah, I am.” He replied.
“My name is Detective Roxanne Perry. Your brother, Sam, is my colleague.”
He watched her shift her weight from one foot to another. Her body language portrayed something that wasn’t good.
“Officer?” He queried. “Did I do something? Commit a crime or something?”
“No.” She swallowed. “It’s your brother.”
Shane quickly became attentive. He leaned forward. Worry filled his eyes.
After what seemed like eternity, Roxanne sighed and broke the news.
“Sam is dead.”

Chapter 11

For a minute, Shane stood still, his eyes focusing on nothing. He wasn’t sure he heard correctly. She had to be joking.
“I’m sorry.” He said in a low voice. “What did you just say?”
Roxanne saw the look in his eyes. He looked like he was confused. She took a long breath.
“Look, I know this is…”
“No!” Shane cut her off with a loud yell. “You cant be serious. You cant come all the way to tell me this kind of stuff. I don’t want to believe this.”
“Listen I would advise you to calm down. I know it sounds…” She tried
Shane cut her off for the second time yelling a stream of curses and other obscene words. He held his head tight and kicked the flower pot at the door step. Roxanne winced as it shattered a few feet away from them. Her eyes shifted to him as he had now punched the door in anger.
“Bleep!” He screamed. “Bleep! Bleep!”
He punched the wall over and over again, putting his emotion into each strike. Roxanne rushed towards him and held his two hands.
“Stop this.” She cautioned. “You’ll hurt yourself.”
Shane sighed and calmed a bit. His eyes retained their normal gaze and he stared down at her.
“When did this happen?” He asked.
“Last night. “ She replied. “I’ll take you to the place. An ambulance should be there by now.”
Shane slowly followed her to her car, his eyes downcast.
On the way, he just stared ahead. Nothing came out of his lips. It was almost like he was in a sort of rollercoaster. How could a day that started well in in such fashion. Sam dead? How? Who would have done such a thing?
Roxanne spared a glance at him on occasion throughout the drive. She didn’t know what to make of his demeanor. She couldn’t tell what he was thinking and she hoped that it wasn’t something drastic.
Shane’s phone rang out, interrupting the awkward silence. He slowly fished it out of his pocket and stared at it. It was an unknown number.
“Hello.” He answered.
“Listen here, you son of a bitch.” The voice on the receiver was gruff and cruel. “I know what you’ve been doing to my woman. If I ever get.”
“Who the Bleep is this?!” Shane raised an eyebrow, greatly irritated.
“You fucking know who I am. You should because you know my wife…partner. Stay the Bleep away from my wife or I swear….”
“Go to hell.” Shane snapped and cut the call.. The phone rang several times and he ignored it.
“Who’s that?” Roxanne asked, not taking her eyes away from the road.
“Some random asshole. “ Shane replied, his scowl deepening.
He knew who it was. It was the husband of Jaime. The man who he helped sell the last car.
‘Stupid bitch must have slipped and messed up.' Shane thought angrily. Her husband must have seen her texts by probably going through her phone.
But that could wait. There were more urgent things to handle.
After a while, Shane sat up as he spotted a crowd surrounding what seemed to be an ambulance. His eyes widened and his heart thumped fast as his suspicions peaked. He glanced sideways at Roxanne and her look said it all.
“No.” He swallowed.
“I’m sorry. I….” Roxanne reached out to place her arm on his shoulder.
He quickly opened the car and rushed towards the crowd before Roxanne could stop him.
“Shane!” She cried out after him but he had already reached the crowd.
“Get the hell out of my way!” Shane yelled as he bulldozed through the crowd, ignoring their protests and outbursts. As soon as he reached the end, some paramedics tried to stop him.
“Sir, please this is a restricted…” One of them tried to plead.
“Bleep that!” Shane pushed him aside and charged forwards.
He stopped dead as the saw the body on the stretcher. The body of Sam. The calm peaceful expression of his dead brother faced him with his eyes closed and the white cloth covering the rest of his body.
“S…Sam.” Shane walked cautiously towards the body.
“Sam, come on little bro. Wake up” He sniffed as he reached towards the white cloth.
A paramedic held him by the shoulder but Shane pushed him away.
“Get the Bleep away from me!” He yelled. “That’s my brother!”
Just then his eyes caught something.
On his brother’s neck was the wound which caused his demise. A wound Shane was familiar with. The same wound inflicted on Juliana. Shane’s legs wobbled as his body shook with fear and sorrow. As the paramedics wheeled the body away, only one thing was clear to Shane.
There was a werewolf in town.

Chapter 12

A cool breeze blew around the familiar graveyard. Shane stood facing three gravestones. Two old ones belonging to his parents and a recent one belonging to Sam. The contrast between the two old looking and faded stones to the new one devoid of blemish was clear for all to see. His eyes watered as he stared at the recent one. He wore a black coat and dark jeans with black boot. A reflection of his mood. And in his hand he held a single white rose. He placed the white rose at the base of his brother’s gravestone.
“First they left us.” He mumbled, his voice quaking. “Then you left me.”
Shane paused for a while and scanned the graveyard. It was nearly dusk and leaves were littered around the area: the sign of the arrival of autumn. It had been weeks after that terrible scene he met at the audience. Eddie had got the news and made his way over. He asked for details but everything Shane narrated to him had sounded incoherent. It was unbelievable. Eddie stared in silence while Shane had narrated the news. He stayed with Shane and passed the night in his house. For both consolation and to make sure he didn’t do anything drastic.
“I don’t know what to think anymore.” He turned his attention back to Sam’s gravestone. “ I don’t know if I’ve been destined to keep losing people all the days of my life. Nothing is making sense anymore. This life is bleeped, little bro. And it’s safe to say I’m fed up. Fucking fed up. Where did I go wrong?”
“Shane?”
He spun around and saw three familiar people at the gate. Eddie, Harry and Agnes. The trio walked towards him and his eyes burned with fury on sighting Agnes. His rage threatening to boil over. She wasn’t seen after Juliana’s burial and he kept it in mend that they had quarreled and she had struck him. Now she had the nerve to come at a time like this?
“I figured you might be here.” Eddie managed a small smile and patted his friend on the back.
Shane smiled a little.
“Hey, man.” Harry greeted.
Shane nodded back at him. Agnes had a sad and guilty look on her face.
“Hey, Shane…” She began.
“Don’t.” He raised a hand to silence her. The venom in his voice stunned the trio “ Just don’t. What the hell are you doing here?”
“Shane.” Agnes couldn’t believe her ears. “I came to….”
“Gloat?!” He completed her sentence. “ Well, you blamed me and nearly took off my face after what happened to Juliana. I seemed to recall one of your statement. What was it again?...Oh, yeah. ‘You hope I pay with my life’. After that, you just disappear for ages and you have the guts to show up now? Well, there you go. I’ve started paying with my life. My brother is gone now. You lost your friend. I lost my brother. Are you happy now?”
Agnes couldn’t get a word out. Her body shook a bit as the tears started to flow. The sorrow and pure anger in Shane’s words got to her.
“Are you fucking happy now?!” Shane had gripped her by the shoulders and shook her.
“Hey!” Harry wrenched the now sobbing Agnes from Shane’s grip and nudged her towards Eddie.
“Listen, I know you’re grieving” Harry continued. “But it doesn’t give you the right to act like an asshole.”
Shane’s fury sparked a 100 times and all he saw was red. He swung his fist and connected with Harry’s jaw. The action sent Harry sprawling to the ground.
“You know what? Bleep you.” Shane hissed. “I’m out of here.”
Shane stormed out, ignoring the calls of Eddie. Harry got up, his eyes filled with rage and made to run after his assaulter but Eddie held him back.
“Don’t.” Eddie said in a tone that was both pleading and warning.
Harry grumbled and his eyes narrowed at the direction of Shane has the latter exited through the gate.

********************************************************
Shane bent down under the mat and retrieved a key. Taking a breath, he opened the door to Sam’s brother’s house and stepped in. Leaving the graveyard, he had one mission. Now that everything his brother said was true, it was time to take action.
The living room smelled of dirt and there were cobwebs all over to the ceiling. This was to be expected as the house had been occupied for a long time after the owner’s death. There was no new occupant.
“I never thought it would come to this.” He said aloud, a grim expression on his face.
He made his way to the kitchen. It was in worse state than the living room. He raised an eyebrow as a rat scurried across the sink. The floor was very dusty. He nearly gagged and made his way it.
“Come on, Sam where is it? where do you keep your weapons” He mumbled aloud.
After searching everywhere, his mind went straight to the basement.
“Of course.” He rolled his eyes
Surprisingly, the light in the basement still worked as he switched it. Walking down the short stairs, he made his way toward a large dusty box by the corner. He opened it and gasped. Inside the box were all sorts of weapons unimaginable. A big shotgun, and five revolvers. He looked deeper and saw a large cellophane nylon.
And in them were silver bullets.
