In drama, one of the genres of literature, harmatia means the fatal flaw which leads to the downfall of the hero or heroine in the play, while hamartiology is part of the church theology which deals with the doctrine of sin.

Thank you sir.

Illiterate, the word existed before Christianity was created, it was an ideology that the church borrowed!

“Harmatia comes from the root word Ham“ hamburger nih bwahahahah

Even though both terms share the same etymology, they don't mean the same thing at all. A lion and a tiger are from the same cat family but not the same kind of wild animal.

Harmatia is one of the major feature of drama, while hamartiology which is the subject matter of the op is part of church ideology that has to do with sin.

The op is certainly on the right track No need for the confusion

Plus, trolls pastor would probably know this stuff as I'm guessing its something they teach in their pastoral courses.

That's absolutely correct, furthermore, in Christendom and similar foreign extremist ideologies, Hamatia was used for the word 'sin.

Hamartia is used instead of the word 'sin

“ Harmatia comes from the root word Ham”

Can you send a link to this?

Sorry, I wanted to say they may share the same origin.

The op deals with the ideology of hamartiology and not Just the origin of the word alone

I thought you should have focused on that, instead of making it seem as if he is focused on the etymology of the word. This quarrel on the thread would not have happened.

If you do your research very well you cannot fail not to see that those terms share the same idea behind them.

Fatal flaw is the weakness of the tragic hero which leads to downfall, while sin in hamartiology is also regarded has weakness in Christianity . This is what makes the origin almost the same.

Harmartiology is simply the study of harmatia!.
These are greek words that existed before Christianity was created in rome.

He made a wrong assertion that harmatia comes from ham, and that’s brutal lie.

Can you send me a link to the harmatia from the Drama you did research on?

Re: What Is Hamartiology? by triplechoice(m): 2:09pm On Oct 19, 2022
Yes, but the difference is that hamartiology is an ideology ( theology) while harmatia is not even if connected to the latter

Before Christianity was created, harmatia has been studied and used that’s how you end up with harmatiaology, the ideology was borrowed from greek philosophers, lol.
And theology means study of theos(gods), we also have theogony too.

Now that's settled, Hamartiology comes from the root word Harmatia.

Harmatia comes from the root word Ham.

We already know that the Hamitic hypothesis was never a real hypothesis, rather, this was one of the most diabolic ideas ever to come into the minds of humans.

Therefore, Hamartiology is just as toxic by many counts, one of which is expressed earlier in the opening of the thread and another is simply due to its association, the mere fact that it's a direct ideological derivative of the said term 'Ham'.

Why are you sending me a literature site, send me the origin of the word “harmatia” and you see how Christianity borrowed the idea.
And not to forget, jesus and his disciples spoke Aramaic and hebrew.
It was hundreds of years after, that New Testament was written in Greek.

Precisely, the first people to be known as Christeans were the followers of the church of Serapis Christus.

There are various concepts that the foreign extremist ideologies make use of today that they adopted from the followers of the church of Serapis i.e Harmatiaology, Soterism e.t.c

“From the drama”, and if you look at the origin of the word it will still go back to this. You are the one putting it in a box.
Harmatia and harmatiaology means same thing and it was an ideology borrowed from greek philosophers.
We know that the early church fathers borrowed alot of terms from greek philosophers while writing the New Testament.

And we also know the followers of jesus wasn’t called “Chrestians” until they got to antioch, what were they called before?
And it was agrippa ll that first used the term “Chrestian” to mock the followers of jesus.

There's danger in knowing just a single story.. Chimamanda Adichie

You know a part of the 'story"; harmatia, but not everything, so don't rest until you know what others know that you don't know .

Ignorance is certainly not bliss. I agree with that, but take your own medicine first before offering it to others

The op is dealing not on word origin but on church theology
The focus should be on that. The thread has been badly derailed by you.

Without the word origin, chrestians won’t have been able to use it.

The terms 'Christ' predates "Christianity".

The first followers to be known as "Chresteans" were the followers of the church of Serapis during the Greco-romans occupation of Alexandria.

Moreover, the Jesus character is fictional.

Don’t confuse christ for chrest.
Christ means messiah in Hebrew and it means anointed.
We have many anointed(messiah) prophets in Old Testament.
The followers of serapis were called “Chrestians”

The fact that harmatia is used in church theology doesn't make it an idealogy. Hamartiology is an idealogy, while Hamartia is not.

This is the difference you're yet to grasp. Harmatia is for explaining the theology of hamartiology

Theology means study of theos.
Harmatiaology means study of harmatia.

Grab that first!

The English word 'Christ' comes from the Greek word 'Kristos' which was adopted from the African conception known as KRST.

Yeah and it was used to translate hebrew “messiah”.
They were following the Old Testament to write New Testament.

Yeah and it was used to translate hebrew “messiah”..

Arabic is older than the Hebrew Language, and the Arabic language isn't even considered to be ancient.

In other words, the Hebrew language is relatively new , accredited to one Eliezee Ben-Yehuda, this was a language that had its written form invented in the 1800's.
