Finally the end has come to our already dead education sector

Even if all Europe open doors for teachers in naija, there would still be more than surplus that will be jobless.

90/100 of those graduates are not employed. They end up be, tailors, hairdressers, POS operator, drivers, becen okada man

The only way someone can enslave you forever is to give you language, education, religion. They are like the immune system that protects a culture from intrusion and against distraction, destruction, disorientation, death.

Once you've accepted a foreign language, education, religion, it means that your culture has lost natural immunity to protect itself, therefore, you (yourself) would justify your enslavement as the right thing because you have nothing to protect yourself. And you die!! Because any illness can freely go in.

Over the past 7 years, I've warned Africans that there's no way the UK can survive outside the EU unless they re-colonize their former colonies. There's no way they can! As far as economy goes, all they have are international oil and banking cartels but with the rise of China and few other Asian countries coming to their senses and the shift to green energy, their control has waned and would continue to do so. The only way the UK can survive outside of the EU would be to re-colonize their former colonies and what you're seeing here is just the beginning. Quote me anyway.

Nairaland educated slave mods don't allow me to add links anymore for people to get additional information about what's being said. If you need more information, go to www.africason.com and read the article: it's time to abolish the common wealth of nations. The commonwealth was set up for cases like this. That's it's real purpose. Also read: Europe and Arabia have launched an economic warfare against Africa. There I've warned for the past 7 years that these are exactly the type of gimmicks the UK would resort to after exiting the European Union.

I've checked history and I can tell you for sure that these little things you see today would evolve into something completely unrecognizable in the next 50 to 100 years.

We are going to be re-enslaved in Africa. It would evolve, so we won't realize it until we get there stuck.

I can see it clearly coming.

UK and Canada are bent on exploiting all of Nigeria!

Competent doctors, teachers and Engineers might become a scarce resource by 2020

They've been doing it for decades but now they are becoming more blatant about it.

State government teachers earn less than 50k entrance level salary in most states. The renumeration is so poor in all ramifications.

Lolll 50k looks like you have never taught in a school.

The pay is 20 to 30k, during the interview you will be asked if you stay with your parent, that will be a plus for your selection.

Nigeria has been listed among African countries whose citizens can now apply for qualified teacher status through the Teaching Regulation Agency in the United Kingdom, from February 2023.

Other foreign countries which the offer extends to include Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Singapore, South Africa, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.

A publication early December on the UK government’s website, by its Department for Education, announced the application for interested non-UK nationals.

The PUNCH reports that the applicants do not even necessarily require initial teaching qualifications as the country offers a training programme for the potential migrants.

The notice read, “From February 1, 2023, teachers who qualified in the following nine countries (listed above) will also be able to apply to the QTR through the TRA.

“This change is part of the launch of a new service.

“Teachers from all eligible countries will have to show they meet a consistent set of criteria for the award of the QTS. Over time, this route will be opened to qualified teachers from every country outside the UK.

“To apply for assessment – only QTS, you do not need a formal teacher training qualification.

“However, you must have: a minimum of two years teaching experience, a first (bachelor’s) degree from a UK or non-UK university, an English language qualification which is the same standard as a grade four General Certificate of Secondary Education, a maths qualification which is the same standard as a grade four GCSE to teach children aged three to 11 in primary school, a physics, chemistry or biology (science) qualification which is the same standard as a grade four GCSE.”

We're still complaining about the exodus of healthcare and IT professionals, the UK carry come with teachers, going by the way that teachers are poorly paid and treated in Nigeria right now,I forsee a yearly outflow of thousands of teachers within five years of this program. Other English speaking Western nations like Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand etc might soon establish similar programs. These countries would soon depopulate Nigeria of all professionals, what's the next profession to go?plumbers, electricians, carpenters/roofers etc.

That's a good development, you reap what you sow, shebi your elites don't value what they have and prefer to enjoy luxury in other countries instead of developing their country. Good riddance, on your marks, set, gooooooooooooo, mass exodus for teachers, Carpenters would be next

I'm sorry your story is hard to believe.

It's good for teachers in Nigeria to travel to other countries to cause shortage in Nigeria.

When it becomes hard to see quality teachers in Nigeria, government and schools will be forced to pay them a decent salary.

How can government be paying teachers less than #100k and think it's okay? It's even worse in private schools where some teachers are paid less than #50k.

Globalization is a reality that Nigeria must learn to live with or become utterly useless.

You think government officials whose children school abroad will be bothered if all the schools in Nigeria are empty without teachers?

It's actually dangerous to a nation to have to keep importing professionals. What is the future of the young UK citizens?

if you're a teacher, you would have realised that the country is already experiencing teacher shortages especially in areas like physics, computer, literature etc if they recruit teachers with two years experience from Nigeria, our schools would be heavily affected. Most graduates can't teach,in my school, before you're allowed to go for the micro teaching test new applicants, you must first pass an examination on your subject area. If you apply to teach economics, you would be given a complete past waec question of let's say 2020 to answer, if you pass it,then you can go for micro teaching test before a decision would be made to employ you or not. Recently, we haven't been getting applicants for most subject areas talkless of ones that can pass the required application tests.

What you wrote is applicable to most top schools. When I came to Lagos newly I applied to one church owned, secondary school in Alimosho. The process was: written exam, micro class, interview before you are employed. The pay better than most business organizations then... 9yr ago.. Like between 120k to 150k.
Spent couple of yrs before venturing into practicing engineering...
A nation that don't value her human capital and capacity will miss alot in this world of globalization. We are already feeling the impacts, directly or indirectly of tech gurus and health workers... Teachers...? Next nail on the coffin.

They are free to take as many teachers as possible because learning how to teach is no rocket science.

In fact, most corps members were made to teach, even though they had no previous teaching experience. It will also boost our foreign remittances.

On the flip side, it's more painful to take Nigeria's IT gurus and health care specialists because those are sensitive industries.

Some of you sha. Did you even read the OP? The requirements mean they’ll be taking some of the best trained teachers, leaving others behind.

Imagine touting corps members as a viable alternative to trained, committed teachers.

From everything you’ve posted, it does look like you’re blissfully unaware of the true state of things in your country

Many of the people that I know in the UK have left or are looking to leave because they now realize that the cost of living is unfavorable and that they can earn significantly more in north America or at least endure lower living costs on continental Europe. The UK is in very bad fiscal shape and has been for a while.

Why would any sane person move to post Brexit UK? They are the worst performing advanced economy in the world and are due to enter a prolonged recession.

They have serious demographic issues. They don't have enough young people or enough willing to do many of the so-called essential jobs, especially at the pay rate offered. Which should act as a warning to others but of course Nigerians know better undecided.

Where did I even mention London?

You can take London out of the equation and base it on Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton or the home counties and the cost of living is still silly. Especially when compared to their equivalents in France or Spain or anywhere on continental Europe outside of Switzerland.
