Keep up the good job Kabe1

Please If i may ask this question. Do we produce bombs too. If not Nigeria should start producing these bombs too o. We should leatn how to build own ordnance and air to air missiles too.

We have produced rockets for aircrafts, I don't know about bombs. However I'm sure there are people more knowledgeable than I am and with more information.

We can only guarantee the safety and security of Nigeria with a domestic defence industry. While we have made tremendous strides in the past decade, I am concerned that military planners in Nigeria are yet to fully embrace indigenization of local hardware.

The Nigerian army has purchased nearly 800 armoured vehicles in the last 8 years, only a few of this number have been locally made.

This is a serious concern.

This means Nigeria might still get the AH-1Z Attack Helicopter after all.

12x AH-1Z helicopters with only APKWS(laser guided rockets) no form of guided missiles for approximately 1 billion dollars. What new development does it bring to the table, it's no different from a Mil Mi 35 with guided rockets also.
Meanwhile, 12x A29B Tucanos with APKWS and other relevant kits for 500 million dollars.
We've been scammed.

I agree that the price is high, and we are better severed with procuring additional T-129 ATAK helicopters instead.

1 Billion Dollars for an aircraft we can't explore all of the capabilities it has on offer is too much.

NAF EVACUATES 94 NIGERIANS FROM SUDAN

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has brought back home 94 Nigerians stranded in Sudan. The evacuees, flown in NAF 913 C-130H aircraft, arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 2254 UTC (11.54pm local time) last night, 3 May 2023. The evacuees are among the first batch of 276 Nigerians airlifted from Aswan in the wake of the ongoing security challenges in Sudan. The NAF effort is in furtherance of its constitutional role of aid to civil authority, and in line with the commitment by the Federal Government to rescue and successfully return back home Nigerians living in Sudan. The airlift operation is most heart warming as it coincides with the NAFs 59th anniversary celebration holding in Enugu from 4-7 May 2023.
On hand to receive the returnees on arrival were the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq; the Ministrys Permanent Secretary, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo; Director General National Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Habib; and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

PRESIDENT BUHARI EULOGIZES NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES INITIATIVE OF DEVELOPING VIABLE PROJECT FOR EFFICIENT MILITARY OPERATIONS

President Muhammadu Buhari has eulogized the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for coming up with a robust initiative aimed at developing viable project for efficient military operations. The President gave the compliments at the commissioning ceremony of a secured communication network for the Armed Forces project nick named GIWA 2 Project in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja on 2 May 2023. According to the President , the project GIWA 2 is designed to provide secure means of communications, real time instant reporting as well as information exchange between the AFN and other security agencies and bring about enhanced collaboration between defence intelligence and entire security community.. He added that the project will provide a platform for the denial of freedom of action by all perpetrators of insecurity across Nigeria. He therefore urged the AFN to continue to break a new ground and remain at the forefront of main stream technology and other cutting age initiatives. This, he pointed out will facilitate the provisions of a safe, secured and peaceful environment for Nigerians.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Lucky Irabor stated that the project was conceived following the directive by Mr President in 2021 for the Armed Forces and other security agencies in Nigeria to embark on operations to allow farmers return to their farms. The CDS noted that the project is a " breakthrough in the technological advancement of communication system in the AFN. Continuing, he said the project has the capacity of providing voice, data and video as well as other value services to the Armed Forces. In his words, " It is a welcome development in the evolution of Nigeria security land scape". General Irabor emphasized that the project will greatly assist in the conduct of operations and ultimately promote national security.

In his goodwill message to the AFN at the occasion, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami gave insight that the project will be used to gather intelligence, build trust , enhance the reputation of security institutions in Nigeria and promote confidentiality.

Also present at the occasion was the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Mr Godwin Emefiele who affirmed that insecurity devastates the production capacity of an economy and undermines governance in a country. He was optimistic that the project will guarantee jobs and enhance the nation's security architecture Mr Emefiele explained that insecurity impinges on economic growth and expressed the CBN commitment towards promoting project that will boost the nation's economy and create jobs through increased agricultural production.
Services Chiefs, Inspector General of Police, heads of other security agencies, senior military officers both serving and retired from across the services and other invited guests graced the occasion. Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of an artistic portrait of Mr President dressed in a Field Marshal rank military regalia by the Chief of the Defence Staff.

Nigeria Day 4

Formation test flights have taken place today with Mark and Chris Heames ready for the show, more briefings and meetings and the team also had the honour of meeting the Nigerian Air Force Air Marshall.

Another first saw Mark and Chris flying in formation with an Augusta 109 helicopter trailing a huge Nigerian Flag (it appears they remembered to bring their flag,, sorry we don’t mention Mark forgetting the flags do we 🤦🏻) this flight brings unique challenges to all involved due to the differences in airspeeds and wake turbulence from the rotor wash, not to mention the consideration of a huge flag flying between the two Extras!

I'm not saying the Mil Mi 35 fires guided rockets, the Russian gunships fire unguided rockets of 70mm but what difference is there between an AH-1Z Viper with APKWS and a Mil Mi 35 with guided rockets??

You're just mixing up impossible scenarios and confusing yourself. Where are you going to get the Mi35 compatible guided rockets from itfp? APKWS is not compatible with Mi-35. It doesn't have the required laser target pointer.

And by the way, Mi35 and AH1 are not the same kind of helis. The AH1 is an attack helicopter while Mi35 is a multirole helicopter. Big difference in Manuverability and load out.

Ohh really...?? Thanks for the tip captain obvious. I never said APKWS is compatible with the Mil Mi 35, the Russians can also make guided rockets that can be fitted with the gunship. So try not to misquote me.
Now tell me, what new capabilities does the AH-1Z Viper bring to the table regarding Nigeria's COIN operations?? What can it do that the Mil Mi 35s in the inventory can't do and the already incoming T-129 Atak unlike the AH-1Z Viper that is expected to be delivered by 2025??
