That's why I said he should have built it in Ondo or ogun instead lagos is too populated and small

Have you been to the refinery before?
What do you know about Ibejulekki and its environs?

I have about 4 properties between Ibejulekki and Epe, 1 is on the same road with the refinery, so I want to first understand how well you know the area before replying you with my response.

Thanks

The distance between Idasho to Lagos island is like Ilorin to Ibadan

I think this a brilliant comment , never been to Ibeju lekki, But Ive been to most places on the island and its still crowded
iammo:

It isn't built in a crowded area... Lekki Free trade zone is an industrial area far away from crowded zone

It's by the sea close to the Atlantic ocean and pollution can't reach mainland Lagos

Lagos is a good place to site the Refinery but there are other suitable states ,reason been that Lagos is so over-crowded and they are having lots of housing and Transportation problems.
Ogun
Akwa Ibom
Ondo
Cross Rivers states
The above stateswould have been ideal
Reason been that, there is relative peace there,The Lands are available and they don't have housing or transport problems compared to the former and mind you they all have access to sea and the Resources

How about the environmental pollution it will cause in Lagos , is lagos not too small and crowded for such a big refinery?

I read:
Oil refineries emit large amounts of air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. These pollutants can cause respiratory problems, including asthma, and increase the risk of heart disease and lung cancer etc i think lagos is too small and crowded for such a big refinery

So it's now you wake up from slumber.Tell your village people and Chief to come and remove it to your village.

With the siting of the refinery in Lekki and the potential gas flaring and the already bad water in that area and traffic.

The Lekki hype go soon come down.

Siting of the refinery at Lekki? 😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂 😃

I would do Epe to Abeokuta/Ibadan before doing Lekki to the refinery

Well, corruption is always an issue with Nigeria and I can't be quick to dismiss your valid concerns, as others do, because I know the reality of Nigeria.

After all, it was someone in the Lagos planning permission board that looked away while the developer Osibona extended a residential tower with approval for 15 floors to 21 leading to the collapse of the tower in Ikoyi killing many including the developer himself.

The aggressive marketing of land around the Dangote refinery axis, using the refinery itself as an attraction to lure wealth-chasing investors to the area, is a worry.

We have to hope strict supervision is deployed regarding sales of land and respect for set-backs in the area around the refinery. That is my main worry.

Haven said all that, it is still a great, visionary and much needed project that I espect to be a "game changer" for Nigeria given that it will be run by one of the most successful and dedicated businessman Nigeria has ever produced.
Keep your cynism and negative perspectives to yourself. Lagos always welcomes development. Indeed, it is a plus for Lagos that Dangote refinery is opening another Real estate frontier in that axis. Your mind seems myopic laced with bias.

Experts whose decisions were influenced by economic interests and palm greasing. Even a kindergarten knows that air pullution goes for hundreds of kilometers.

I remember few years ago when pollution from the Warri refinery affected the rains in far away Osun State. During Desert Storm, air pollution from the fires in Kuwait went as far as parts of Europe.

But what do I know. Absolutely nothing.

Then no matter where it's sited, there's still going to be issues judging of this post of yours.

LAGOS is the best place to locate refinery for the following reasons:

Niger Delta Environment is already polluted and degraded by crude exploitation activities.

LAGOSIANS are used to noise pollution, congestion, poor public and personal hygiene. Lagosians are used to shanty / ghetto lifestyle. They are used to harassment by TOUTS and thugs. They are used to a life devoid of human dignity and decency.

Therefore, mere carbon pollution from petrochemical will not be noticed.

Oga people dey live that area well well. I know this When I went for a project there. And there are still ongoing estate developers around there. I got a first hand info that those dwellers will be resettled elsewhere.

I must commend that Nigga Dangote. When that project was ongoing, the massive employment there was something else. People of all tribes benefited and now that this project has been commissioned, there is hope for Nigerians.

this your questions is not very relevant anymore belated, evil intended and seeking evil for a newly established project.

where were you when they were conceiving this refinery project in Lagos? possibly in a ramshackle office in fourth grade university claiming professor of a non identifiable course. you are no good and your types destroyed Nigeria and kept it not moving forward.

I know you are putting on the toga of an environmentalist that destroyed Europe and America by sending all their industries to China to their foolishness and forever regrets.

fyi, that refinery is in Lagos state and not Lagos city. the location is more than fifty kilometers away from population and industries waste can be better handle as the industries development in the lekki area concerned.

I will not be surprised if you are one of the never do well technocrat stealing money from Nigeria government writing plagiarized documents as authentic research reports for uneducated class of politicians in Nigeria government.

the refinery is there to stay to the consternation and damnation of evil educated mindset like yours. big shame to free education.

He should have built it in ondo or ogun since he is afraid of niger delta militants

Ondo ordinarily is the best but the reason he chose Lagos over such locations is simply, Lekki Free Trade Zone!

Your governors will know the right things to do and not do them. Edo created a similar structure and today Dangote is also in Edo with his cement plant.

Is not really in Lagos.. Geographically the Refinary is on the Soil of Ogun State. Lagos does not have that land for that big project. They just using Lagos to suit the global audience.

Ibejulekki lekki is not Ogun state.

It's not even anywhere close to the border.

Cos of nearness to the sea which ll aid international movement or oil, it's the best. If he went to Delta or Rivers, established militant base ll disturb him. Now he's to worry about militants that ll migrate to Lagos or those that ll arise in Lagos which can be easily combated.

Nigeria get life before? The refinery ll be of more good than bad.

Have we been living well with or without refinery?
Every technological breakthrough has its advantage and disadvantage. This refinery has more benefits for Nigeria. Your family or yourself go get job. Someone you know that know someone from somewhere ll get job.

Eggxactly.
I even heard rumours Ogun past gov used beef & selfishness to reject the refinery in Ogun. Spiritual attack niyen o!
Rumours though!

The profit ll over whelm the disadvantages.

Ondo and Ogun rejected the refinery due to one policy or the other.
