Taiwo20: Bad weather in which area? The traffic is due to the road construction being done from Ogun state down to Abraham Adesanya. (Where is being worked on now has almost gotten to Abijo), From Abijo down to Epe is smooth. By the way, Dangote refinery is not even on that route, alot of you don't even know what Ibejulekki looks like. 2 Likes |

Dangote is a private business man, he is doing well creating jobs, he is the biggest job creator in Nigeria, he knows where is best for him to open his businesses. your billionaires should build businesses to create jobs. Stop talking nonsense, you want a business man to open refinery in a region of mad people like southeast? Every business man will out their business in safe , progressing environment where they will make profits. |

when the port Harcourt refinery was built by shell d arcy in the 1950s the location was just like ibeju lekki to Lagos city of today. when university of ibadan was built in 1950s too the location was far out of ibadan city. but today they have all attracted economic developmerent to the locations of their situation. Nigeria as a country was damaged industrially due the weight politics and political considerations carry in the siting of national economic development projects. the siting has been such that they automatically killed the industries and intended development. a serious case in point in the siting of ajaokuta steel, though at correct raw materials site but far removed from the markets for the disposal of finished products hence very heavy burden on roads that will transport both raw materials and finished products. till today ajaokuta steel is just a work in progress yet to deliver steel to market. but today, to to Shagamu and ikorodu in ogun state you will see several Indian and Nigerian initiated iron and steel industries functioning and producing for the relevant markets. Dangote needs money to produce more money and will have little or no considerations for skin colours or tribal locations to site economic development projects. further, the refinery will like to widen its products markets to include foreign countries, so tell me which tribal locations is better for him than his current choice. 1 Like |

Mrfeel:1. The vast Sea has this natural ability to detoxify the air pollution. 2. Demand for petroleum products is highest in Lagos compared to elsewhere in Nigeria. 3. Pipeline supplies of crude oil from the oil fields already exists in Lagos, hence easy access to the refinery. 4. Shipping of vessels of crude oil from other oil producing countries made easy because of the seaport, remember that Nigeria can not adequately meet the crude oil needs of the refinery. |

SmartyPants: 1. you claimed that Dangote is in Edo state because Edo state has an LFTZ structure similar to that of Lagos. when did Edo state government put LFTZ in okpella? 2. is it like Dangote had all the various locations from PH, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Ogun, Ondo and Lagos on the table and then out of all these he chose Lagos because of LFTZ? 3. if there was no LFTZ in lagos, are you saying Dangote wouldnt have sited the refinery in Lagos? 2 Likes |

Goodlady: What are you saying that is sweeting you? Profit will overwhelm the disadvantages... Are you saying the profit s that will be made from that refinery will go into Nigeria's purse or treasury? Nigeria owns the refinery or Dangote? |

Everybody is seriously considering the profits and the employment benefits accrueing from the refinery but nobody has considered environmental health hazard from such projects. You don't have built a giant fractional distillation column just in one place, it can be scaled down and spaced over wide areas in the delta to avoid suffocation in one place. Fertilizer plant is also coming with it's own dangerous emissions. If you really want to check the environmental impact and assessment of the refinery, keep a proper data of visits to ENT section of LUTH and other tertiary institutions in Lagos and Ogun. The numbers will be tripled in the coming years if you are in doubt ask Uniport teaching hospitals. The number of people suffering from respiratory illnesses will be increased especially those living in Lekki/Ibeju axis of Lagos. 3 Likes |

No successful business is a democracy. 👌 It's an oligarchy; a tiny minority of people towards the top making the overwhelming majority of important decisions. Every society is an oligarchy, in the sense that in every society power is pareto distributed. A tiny majority of people weild the overwhelming majority of decision-making power. In every society... power, status, and wealth are pareto distributed. A minority of people are rich and powerful (High Status). A majority of people are poor and powerless (Low Status) In this sense, every society is an oligarchy in that a tiny minority of people weild all the real political power. |
