No, you are not immune to sin. You are aware of sinful act and recognizes when you sinned and ask God for forgiveness

Your questions 2 and 4 are confusing. I am tempted to think you are a witness. (JW).

Can you juxtapose 2 with the concept of forgiveness of sins?

I will be grateful if you can relate it t your point 4. And my question is, how do you explain the concept of sin?

Cos, if you focus on the sin of the Bible alone, then marrying more than one wife might be considered a sin. Whereas, in Islam or some Western society, it is not.

Are you saying such a person will go to hell?

By my beliefs, I do not think God is affiliated with any religion, and the concept of sin is what your heart defines as one. If God is within you, He will let you know when you sin or are about to sin and rebuke you.

Perhaps I am having a hard time balancing my beliefs as an Omnist with the teachings of the Bible, and this is where I need your expertise.

bUT WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Your thoughts and logics are wrong. God's words/ laws are clear, bible says they choose not to obey Him and He gave them to reprobate heart. It's not what/about a people, nation feels, thinks or practice, but obeying the the word of God is what suffices. The whole world, dead or alive will be judged on the last days, God is never too late, God is never in a hurry! Don't hide in a group and disobey God, single yourself out and follow God through Christ Jesus.

Once you're saved, you're saved
You are just a bad child! But God loves you still

Just as it is in humans, when you go against your parents will, you are considered a bad child but that does not mean you are not your parents child.

God loves you and he is always ready to take you back anytime you return to him, he is the best father ever.

Besides you don't expect your self to change immediately after being saved, everything is a gradual process, as you grow spiritually the more strength you have to fight against sin.

Note being saved is different from growing spiritually, yes you have the holy spirit automatically after you accept jesus but it is your duty to make him manifest himself through you

This is one area of our Biblical journey we often shy away from talking about.

I am certain I am not alone in this regard.

How does it feel if at 9. am on a Sunday morning, I come out for an altar call after a powerful heart-shattering and guilt-provoking sermon, give my life to Christ; I am prayed for and declare born again, but I unconsciously commit a sin on my way back home?

And with that guilt, I go back to sin full time like it was before the alter call?

I guess I am not alone in this regard. I have attended church services countless times and listened to sermons and teachings that I can't recollect, and at the end of such endeavour, I obey the alter call one minute, and the next minute, I am back to fornicating. This is one thing that has kept a lot of people out of this spiritual journey.

Even Pastors are not immune to sin, as some have found themselves committing sin at one point or the other. I guess Apostle Paul suffered same in the Bible. And this brings me to my question.

Does being again make you immune to sin, and is it a vaccine against sinning?

Is it that if I sin, it will no longer count against me because I have Grace?

Or is it a merry-go-round of sinning and asking for forgiveness shortly afterwards until we get better at not sinning anymore?

And if the latter is the case, why do churches hate and guilt-shame members when they sin but defend pastors when they do the same?

It is intriguing how we tend to complicate simple principles! Born again simply means having a new nature , as a result of a deliberate transfer of divinity into humanity. The end result of a transformed nature becomes the proof of being born again.

No one who remains in Him sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or knows Him. No one who has been born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother and sister.
1 John 3:6‭, ‬9‭-‬10 NASB2020

If indeed you are born of the Spirit of God (which born again is), you are graced with an ability superior to humanity with evidence of a dramatic change in nature. There is no purer proof that you are yet to know Him and that you are alien to the principle of born again than a nature that remains in the same deplorable sinful state. Born again is an empowerment which is received by faith and by devotion to God and His Christ. When faith and devotion coincide, a power with proof of transformations appears!
Many born again of our time are fake because there is neither teaching for faith nor devotion for possession of the born again experience

Before I answer your questions in a simple way, please always keep in mind the religion is responsible for making these things as difficult as it seems.

For instance, someone gave you a good answer. You should question the argument not bother about which religious clique he/she belongs to.

Back to your questions. From my own perspective so far,

1. Does being again make you immune to sin, and is it a vaccine against sinning?
No. Your spirit got saved and born again. Your body will always be your body and will never be saved; the body will suffer all the consequences of past and previous sins on earth and will perish in the same earth.

Being born again is not a vaccine from sin. As long as your body remains in this world, you will continue to sin one way of the other. Everybody sins. God doesn't weigh sins. Nobody has the right to judge or forgive someone's sin. We are all the same before God.

What Born Again does is to give you a brand new spirit. I wish I can break this down to you but good luck to your understanding.

2. Is it that if I sin, it will no longer count against me because I have Grace?

When you sin, realize your wrong by confessing your sins and ask for forgiveness. That is what grace requires. Your body will suffer the consequences of your sin on earth. But grace allows you to get back to God anytime. You sef forgive yourself once you realize your wrongs and stop feeling guilty.

There is no immunity to sin as long as you are alive. If you want to continue in sin and always bank on grace, you dey whine yourself thinking you are whinnin God. Realization and Confession of sin is the first sign of God's grace on your life. If these two things are missing, forget it. Oya sope otilor.

3. Or is it a merry-go-round of sinning and asking for forgiveness shortly afterwards until we get better at not sinning anymore?

Like I said, you just deceiving if you keep enjoying your sins and claiming grace religiously. Naturally, every new born Christian is expected to continue in their old ways. Grace allows you to see your wrongs and work towards correcting it permanently.

If grace helps you to stop sinning permanently, that's a good thing. But remember, Grace will not stop you from suffering the consequences of every sin while you are on earth. The world is still suffering from man's first sin.

4. And if the latter is the case, why do churches hate and guilt-shame members when they sin but defend pastors when they do the same?

Well, this is always the tricky question. Men will be men. All the affairs in churches are not different from other social circles and that's all I have to say on that.

Before you ask, I am not a religious person. I lived in a Christian home and have studied up to two religions. I believe God is God and the different religions are God speaking in different languages. Na my own be that.

The Bible says " ye sin because ye know not the scriptures" Once you are born again, make deliberate effort to study the Bible. It will reset your mind and reasoning towards God. When loving God and doing His will becomes your drive, Sin becomes strange to your person because the word of God continues to cleanse your heart and mind. " ...…ye are cleansed through the word that I spake to you"
When you wear an expensive white fabric, you always take care to avoid stains on it. When you love and cherish someone, you always want to make that person happy in every way you can. You may offend the person unconsciously yet you'll feel bad about it and not want it to happen again. When you come to relate with God at this level, neither sexual drive nor material things will mean anything to you. You will hate Lying because it will make you uncomfortable.
To commit sin deliberately and ask for forgiveness is the greatest risk to any Christian Life. No one knows the day of his death and we pray not to die in sin. The day a man dies, is his judgement day. Ask yourself, what happens if you die in your sin before you could ask for forgiveness? Some slumped, some had accident, some died in sleep, some at the point of ritual or immoral acts. How do you want to meet your maker?
God bless you all

Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God's law by transgression or neglect–being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will). You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [essentially and forever]. No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him–deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him]. Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous. [But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).

The comment in bold shows that Christendom doesn't understand what it means to be born again, in fact, a Christian cannot be born again.

To be born again, you have to first do your research. When you do, you'll discover to your surprise that Jesus is a FRAUD, then you'll go on to discover where all the original concepts of being born again came from. Eventually, you'll discover that the concept of being born again has been around here in Africa for millions of years before anybody heard of a character called Jesus. That's when you become born again.

Been born again is a lifestyle, not some badge or a static title, you struggle to do right like everyone else, you fall into temptation like everyone else, but the most important thing is faith your and your unwavering will to keep going. Heaven is the goal cool

More spiritual study of that portion of scripture you cited apostle Paul's exampe will help you a great deal. A christian does not have the sinning nature even though he may accidentally not intentionally sin time to time. He doesn't not like or enjoy sinning cos it's not it's nature.

1. If this is what you meant when you said you were born-again then I am sorry to tell you is all you did was submit to the ritual of your pastors and mogs which they also term being "born-again" and nothing more. That ritual has no connection to God or Jesus Christ and and Kingdom of God. undecided

2. No, to be born-again --- born of water and born of the Spirit of Eternal Life(a possession by His person)----- means to become a citizen for the Kingdom of God. The process does not purge you of your past sins nor does it immunize you against future sins. As you continue to sin, your sin debt simply continues to pile on. undecided

3. Like I said, the Spirit of Eternal Life aka grace is not given for the purging of sins. Rather He is gifted by God to everyone who will choose to become born-again. Have you ever been received a gift for signing up to for a bank account or test driving a car? Well, think of it as a free gift of Eternal Life(grace) as a gift God hands out to each and everyone who signs up for the Kingdom of God by becoming born-again. The gift is sets you free from the curse of Death and that is that. undecided

4. First things first, God does not answer the petitions of the unrighteous. What this means is that so long as you remain unrighteous, even your pleas for forgiveness go unanswered by God. Only the righteous have their every petition answered by God, including their requests for forgiveness of sins. Second, sin(disobedience) is a choice and so even after you become born-again, it is through self-discipline that you learn to continously submit and obey the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ. God is not going to hold your hand as that work has to be done by you to prove yourself worthy of Jesus Christ. It is by continually choosing obedience, rather than disobedience(sin), that you not only overcome your urge to sin, but you also pay off your sin debt in full. undecided

5. Again, your churches and their many rituals have nothing to do with God or Jesus Christ. undecided

Easy bro. Explain in such a way that babies like us can understand. I was reading a book last night and I discovered that you can be born again and not even know. Cos of what society preaches.

■ You are mostly right, but let me correct something. Being born again purges you of formal sins. We are baptized for a remission of sins
Where in His Gospel did Jesus Christ say this to you?

Please don't bother responding by providing one of your many magicsl interpretations of the words of one of His apostles in an attempt to make the student greater than the master, a scheme typical of the religious. undecided

Wow! Your answer spoke directly to me like that book spoke at EFCC office on 8/8/23 at exactly about 3:33hrs wen I felt different and couldn't tell a lie with a straight face without feeling guilty.

I am not r3ligious too. Especially, giving that I am an Omnist and not a Christian. I believe there is truth in all religion.

Christians are less than 2billion persons in the world. God won't condemn th3 rest sha.

I understand why you are uncomfortable with me replying. No problem, I just needed to correct you.

No, you are not immune to sin. You are aware of sinful act and recognizes when you sinned and ask God for forgiveness

The correct one is that you are aware of all the things which are sins and you take every reasonable step to dodge all of them.

It is that dodging and combination of all these that makes you feel immune
