Two passions I followed that ruined my life. But I recovered.

(1) The lady I loved so much that messed me up.
(Lesson: Follow peace of mind over feelings). Sometimes we are offered two or more good options, but we may tend to follow the exciting one amongst the good options. Excitement is not a proof of being in the right thing, but time and peace of mind proves it.

(2) A false man of god I met.
I wasted money, time and my life in this man's church. Though I recovered things after I left.

(Lesson: Never be carried away by prophecy, fire, ginger etc. Do not allow people lay hands on you anyhow, be careful when saying "god of so so so man of god". You may be calling his diety instead of God Almighty.

grin ... That's an Experience That would Mould You Forever .... We Don't Need anybody to God .. God is for Everybody.... You Can Even Be Much Better than the MOG/GOs Of Most Big Churches But You Don't Know it due to Self Doubt & Brainwashing from Society that You Can't Breakthrough without having a Strong MOG ... !

MOG wey go run leave you behind once wahala gas ...

We Only Know Money in this Country ..

That's the reason for Senselessness everywhere ...

Poverty & Greed is the Problem of Most Nigeriana while Cutting-Corners is the Crowned Problem .....

We want it big but we ain't ready to Hustle big but fake Big Until You Spend all Your Capital Finish....

When Everything Cast, Instead of Blaming themselves Dem go Start Dey Cast MFM on Village People wey Hunger don already knack tire ...

Kaiiiii .... My People are really Wahhhh Across Africa grin

We can't really blame people though, because in this part of the world, following one's passion is almost a luxury not everyone can afford. Especially if it can't put food on the table.

The last part had me hahahahaha😄

Imagine everyone (on the thread) followed that pattern; then the main objective of the thread would've been lost.
There are certain things we should neither encourage nor make excuses for. Deliberate stupidity is one of such. smiley

I re-read his comment and to be fair he answered the question (albeit he mentioned more than one) based on the way he interpreted it, the two things he mentioned were issues/people he was passionate about at a point in his life. He simply interpreted it differently and didn't see it in the context of being career related as most might have. That isn't enough reason to refer to him as stupid imho.

I didn't refer to him as stupid, I stated we shouldn't encourage/make excuses for stupidity.
They might begin to think we're all stupid in this country. smiley

Everybody's passion is money abeg. Passion ko passion ni

A few weeks ago, there was a post where a banker quit his 70K job to go start a car wash and then began starving because the carwash paid him N500 daily (N15K monthly).

Ever since, we've been pondering what he could have done differently. So we put pen to paper to write down people who started businesses about a decade ago. Only one person out of 25 is still running his business. everyone has either packed up and run back to a job or japaed. Even several of the motivational speakers in the past like a popular pastor and fela durotoye have left the space.

In this conversation below about that banker's story, everyday folks, bankers, architects and veteran businessmen debunk several ideas about following your passion. They explain what you need to put in place before quitting your job to start that business, , how you should manage the expectations of family members about your success, why you need to have support systems in place and how to start out.
