Nigeria Power Sector is divided into three Companies

Generating Company (Private Company)
Transmission Company(PPP)
Distribution Companies(Private company)

Generating Company has Production capacity of 7000mega watt installed capacity of 13,000 Mega watt

TCN has installed Capacity of 8100 megawatt

Distribution Companies have capacity of 4094 Megawatt

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)
Monitors amount of Electricity Generated Weekly and Supplied to customers so as to protect customers

Discos make more profit simply selling electricity to Niger republic, Togo, Benin

Nigerians don't love to pay for electricity so Discos don't supply to full capacity to prevent loss

This app is to monitor who has power and where, for how long, so that NERC can approach Discos with fact

You have said it all.

Are you people mad in this country?

Why do we just keep majoring in trifles? What is the essence of a power outage reporting App when the power itself is largely non-existent? Does NERC and the FG require daily reports from citizens to know that Nigerians are lacking electricity? This is the only country where the slightest indication of rainfall amounts to total blackout, for reasons they have never bothered to explain to the populace. It's currently raining in Gwarimpa Abuja, and the power has been out for over 2hours now. By the time the rain fades, it's going to take another two days for AEDC to dry high tension cables and transformers .

Instead of prioritising electricity improvement, una dey launch App to report unavailability of light. E be like na Ogun wan kill una papa!

O ti ya werey ni..😡?!

Let’s be sincere sometimes, electricity has improved. You discard things even before they’re tested. This app would help in oversight. I am in Surulere, I’ve not had outage in over 18 hours and enjoy 23+ hours of electricity. At Omole phase 1 where I reside, we get 20+ hours of supply DAILY. When I was in Apo we used to have 18+ hours daily. When I was in Garki we used to have less than 12 hours supply daily (most times). Dawaki was 12-18 hours daily, Gwarimpa (4th Avenue) was the same.

This app will help NERC identify the gray areas that need improved supply and the DARK areas that barely get supply AND know how to hold discos accountable.

This is transparency

Please don’t give me that crap if THEY KNOW THE AREAS THAT DONT HAVE SUPPLY.

This app will act as a check to let the public know whether these guys really want to work or not.

Discos won’t like this app, consumers like you ought to welcome this app with open arms. I wonder what your main grouse really is.

Every well meaning Nigerian would welcome this initiative

Certain parts of Abuja metropolis had no electricity from Wednesday to Friday last week, that's three fvcking days of total blackout, and what the NERC and FG are more concerned about is the launching of an App to report outage.

By all means, let them launch it so we can crash it with millions of complaints in the first one week!

You want to take precautionary measures to dictate headache when the malaria is accumulating in the system? Is it not when you have adequately improved electricity generation and supply nationwide that you'll be in any place to create avenues for complaints reception and follow-up?

No be who don first get light go complain about outage for the App..😂? How in God's name did we degenerate to this point where we consider it normal behaviour to put the cart before the horse?!

Prior to this period you mentioned, had it always been this bad? It helps when these issues are available for all to see so they can be held accountable. As conditions improve, it will be crystal clear for all to also see. I believe this app will play a major role in improving supply and resolution of major (lingering) issues.

There are lots of stakeholders in the power sector, with discos being the major problem, this app will help in oversight

Just see this as the 911 of power supply

Pained as you might be, let’s give this a try

We are just wasting manpower, manhour and resources in this country.
Why can't we just give everybody prepaid meter. With prepaid meter, no light, no money. Very simple.
The only reason why discos will not bother if there are power outages is because they can always bill the customers whatever they wish and the customer must pay. So, no need to monitor any outages by any non electricity staff.

Where's the much touted e-naira?

The Nigerian Police launched a similar App to this NERC nonsense, a handful of months ago, claiming it was their own digitisation efforts towards combating crimes as Nigerians could lay their complaints even down to reporting errant policemen. Not only have the Police been too overwhelmed with the increased crime occurrences, but the said App has been jettisoned and forgotten.

Or should we talk about the 500 million naira Lai Muhammed appropriated for the digitisation and upgrade of the Nigerian Television Authority, which never saw the light of day? Only thing Lai did was to register NTA on twitter from whence they've been breaking news with their dull and annoying logo.

This is not me being a pessimist. This is me being a Nigerian realist. This NERC nonsense is uncalled for, needless, totally inconsequential and an avenue to pillage the government coffers, by thieving NERC officials.

Just use the app to report that power is non existent in your area, is that too difficult for you to do? All these years how do you report to power distribution companies that you don’t hv light… by driving all the way to their depot? Or by just simply waiting and hoping that the light shows up! So what inconvenience does this app cause you now if not that it simplifies ways of reporting power outages?

The NERC , together with DISCOS are brothers in Crime,as they are both Fraudulent!
What Nonsense App are they launching, when Majority of Nigerians are in Darkness for 24 Hours?
Are they saying they are not aware of the Fraud in their ends?
- You don't give people light, but you come every Month to claim Money -through Estimated Billing!
You refused to give Prepaid Meters to the Masses- this Metres you don't Produce but Assembled here, yet difficulty to Distribute them and even when you have them, you give it to highest bidders!
• The Current Discos can't take Nigeria to anywhere as they are too large;
1•Their Structures are too inflexible;
2•They can't tell the Masses what they are doing with the Monthly Collected Money - no New Transformers,no Prepaid Meters distribution- Pure Corruption!
3• The Best way is for govt to have Energy Bank- to enabled Real Entrepreneurs to breakdown the Monopoly of the DISCOS, otherwise,no show!
4• President Tinubu should know that this Present Discos/ NERC- can't lead us to Industilisation!
