I see your misunderstanding now.

Coastal highway does not mean it would be constructed on the ocean. It can also be constructed CLOSE to the sea. I suspect many of you always think of water when you hear the word "coast". Coast simply means land adjacent to water.

See map below:

For areas where they don't have competent soil, they build bridges.

That is what I'm saying. There is no land for the highway to pass through. I would have asked you to show me that land where the road would pass through if you were in Rivers State.

That's why people like you keep making same.mistakes thatbhave kept us in this mess since 1960. So.we have to wait for Tinubu to make his own mistakes?

1. How.much is the total budget allocation per annum for road construction?
2. Where will the fund come from to finish the project.
3. Do you know how many years it takes the government to repair a simple expressway? Eg Lagos Ibadan, Onitsha Enugu? Averages almost 20yrs
4. If it is to be financed by the construction company and tolled, have they done similar projects before?
5. When did they bid for this project, who else competed, how did you arrive at the choice of the company?
6. Same company that could.not finish Lagos Epe expressway for almost 20years?

I know critical thinking is not cheap that's why there are too many poor people in the country. Continue to repeat history. You want a fanciful road, that's why there are too many fanciful white elephant projects everywhere in the country with zero economic benefit

In your mind you are the only one that visited other countries? You are just a poor thinker looking for fanciful projects you can't afford at the expense of scarce resources.
You are talking trash,if this was to go be done in the north, you won't come up with all these useless analysis of yours.... Funds they are stealing left, right and center, you come attack person with better write-up... Infact you're very useless.

Waste of resources it is. Why not use the money to create more sea ports to decongest lagos port. Create one in Ondo, modernise the one at Koko in delta state and another one in the S/E. The ROI would have been massive.

But he won't do that because his company hitech would lose out of the project. He won't see anything to eat.
Can you create a Sea port in a landlocked region?

Ode! That doesn't know what modern construction is all about, even across the oceans and mountains there are bridges.
If not for the fact that you are stupid you should have known that the design and route for the road is already done. Do you know more than construction companies? For your information this is my 28 years in Port Harcourt working both land, swamp and sea. Daft moda foka! I just realized that you are one of those fools bringing politics into everything! I nor be your papa mate!

This is how a fraudulent coastal highway that won't go beyond Lagos state is known.

A cretin like you defending the indefensible should have shown the areas the road would pass through in River state rather than hoping that the construction company knows it all.

Thièfnubu and everyone handling this project are bunch of thieves. Little wonder the construction is starting from Lagos state.

Which region is landlocked? Have you been to UAE before?UAE that dredged to the ocean bed and invited a pull of ocean to their doorstep and turned it into a world class sea port? River Niger was better, compared to the arid( desert) land where they created a pathway for the ocean to reach them. Yaradua was a president Nigeria never had. He approved the dredging of the river Niger up to lokoja. I remember that day. Successive governments simply abandoned the project.

We're just not ready for growth in Nigeria yet. In less than a decade, they'd make double that investment in profit if they can dredge. It can be extended to Lokoja, which happens to be Anambra's neighbor . I've been to the river Niger spot in lokoja where there's confluence hotel. I once saw a boat that came from onitsha and returning with passengers.

Tribalism, bigotry and the likes have caused Nigeria a lot of setbacks, which had caused several nations who couldn't wear our shoes to leave us behind. Sadly, we're yet to learn any lesson from it. This cuts across all tribes. No one is exempted.

No problem bro. I have looked @ the map clearly and considered the areas mapped out for this project and to the best of my knowledge, it is quite impossible.

We have Bua sugar factory and NPA located on the shorelines in Rivers State in a particular location. Are they going to remove the both for this road to pass through?

In some places in River state, the shorelines are peoples villages. Are they going to be uprooted from their ancestral homes for this road to pass through?

Same thing is applicable to Onne wharf where cargo ships barth. Are they going to remove those gigantic projects that costs over 30 trillion naira?

Okay. Let me help you. You say someone is a cocaine sniffing thug. If a cocaine sniffing thug defeats me in an election, I'd commit suicide because it proves a cocaine thug messed me up.

You'd argue that Peter Obi won the election. Even Peter Obi himself does not believe he won the election. It is characteristic of a supporter of someone who came 3rd in an election and claimed 1st, but could not prove it because he didn't believe in it. If he believed he came 1st, why was he asking that the candidate who came 1st be disqualified for alleged double nomination of his running mate, which turned out to be a blatant lie? If he believed he came 1st, why was he dying about IREV? Didn't his party agents have their own results? IREV is a viewing portal and not a collation center. If he believed he won, why didn't he present his results from his party agents from the collation center?

Please before making statements on a public forum try and get your facts right.

There was an initial design for that road, landmark and other people followed and observed that design. All of a sudden, they brought out this new design when people have already followed their initial design. I saw the 3d of both designs. Interestingly, the initial design is better as there will be no house to demolish thus saving government huge sums of money.

Besides there is no tangible reason given for the current design with the associated cost on state coffers.

Agreed on getting the facts right and that is the position I am speaking from.
The cost I have no details on...but the engineering, execution and social economic impact I can boldly speak about.

Yes there is the option of repairing existing roads which past governments had poorly built. There is also the option of expanding new fronts like the coastal road. Either way would result in a debate. A decision either left or right still has its merit.

As an Engineer, I prefer a standard concrete road running across the country and which is durable than fixing bad roads that might need to be entirely re-built if it is to be done properly.

RoW is RoW. Simple charting in surveyor general's office and sticking to approved boundaries would have saved some businesses billions of Naira in damages.

Compensations are paid to those whose properties are affected by any adjustment in the RoW and who have approved papers.

Just my professional contribution.

If anyone from the Niger-Delta comes across the thread, please remember that some of you voted for Peter Obi. Peter Obi has demonstrated he is against the progress of the Niger Delta communities. The bulk of the funds for running our economy comes from the Niger Delta. But he says a big project to criss-cross the Niger Delta is a misplaced priority.

Note that the US spent their way out of recession through the New Deal which focused on massive infrastructural development across board, including roads. There is no nation interested in progress that is currently not engaged in one form of infrastructural development or the other. But the one which is 60 years old overdue in Nigeria, Peter Obi is fighting it, simply because he lost election.

If he didn't build anything meaningful in Anambra, I think it is disingenuous to fight against something being built through the Niger Delta. Thanks to Tinubu's ingenuity, Lagos is undergoing massive infrastructural development and embarking on an audacious railway project which the likes of Rufai Oseni would condemn.

Peter Obi doesn't want the progress for the Niger Delta. He just wants to get the votes and use anti-developmental and archaic ideas to ruin this country completely.

Only vote for those who want progress to be in your land. With this tweet, Peter Obi has shown he is not interested in that.

As for the Landmark CEO who has been all over the place making noise, can he show us documents where the shorelines and beaches in his location were ceded to him? If he violated the right of way, it is evil for him to complain. The best thing to do was to meet and find ways to relocate his business or shift to an area where the coastal highway won't pass. When I travelled through Accra-Cape Coast highway, part of which was adjacent to the ocean, it was a beautiful sight with the blue waters! Guess what? Beaches still functioned!!

Just to add, a road network is also a delight for businesses. Food can easily be transported from rural areas to urban centers and those in rural communities would make good money.

But Peter Obi does not want this.

Please, state the difference between this particular road and the East-West road. In addition, what other benefits or importance aside the additional rail line is this road than the dilapidated East -West road?

PS: I am from Delta State

Peter Obi is not a presidential product at all. Easy/West road he claimed been abandoned is under construction for goodness sake. Lagos-calabar coastal road is laudable project that will help the 3 geopolitical zones including his region where he ruled one of the states and diverted the money meant for infrastructures to his own family business which is presently amount to nothing. He will still cry again because Badagry to Sokoto coastal road (the construction will start from Sokoto) too is under designing handled by senator Umahi. Thank God he didn't win presidential election
emkz:
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, took to his verified Twitter handle to lampoon the Federal Government for continuing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

In his tweets, he rued the economic and job losses, asking the government to focus on maintaining existing highways instead of engaging in non-essential projects.
