Am surprised people still find time to sit in debating and analyzing God's Prophets. What do they know about sin? Is God after the mistakes you make as a born again Christian or does He look out for the rejuvenated you, seeking to bring the lost back into the kingdom? I only have this question to ask you: Are you born again and do you have the Holy Spirit live in you? If yes, then there wouldn't have been any need for this long mind-confusing essay, which will only end up winning souls for the kingdom of darkness. Do a serious rethink about this, stop being sin conscious and give righteousness a chance. Its not by power nor might but by the spirit, says the Lord.

manmacho: this is a sublte way of criticising the pastor. as if this is the only message he had ever preached. talk abaout his passion for the gospel and all the good work hes been doing and stop picking holes like a crab, if you seek holes in peoples message you will surely get them . don't make yourself editor in chief of MOGs they are responsible to God.
You re on point. Is dis de only preaching he has done? Haba!

I think in my own opinio that nothing created by God is intrinsically bad,the problem is,how do you use these things? To what end is the intended use? Abuse, lack of moderation which simply would mean going against the primary divine injunction INCREASE AND MULTIPLY,SUBDUE THE EARTH AND CONQUERE IT,Be the master;;;;;;this is in my opinion the interest and emphasis.I f in using these things I fail to be in control, using the divine intelligence given to me at creation which likens me to God ,created in his image and likeness, meaning I represent God here,I carry the spark of God in me,God has honoured ,elevated me to be a master,I stoop down, debased to behave in a manner obtainable among animals, then there is a big problem.Matters of faith, morals are not easy nuts to crack.

bluepro: In not holding brief for anyone, l like to ask this question: if Pastor Chris said that smoking is not a sin and u don't smoke, will u then start smoking? If he said that drinking alcohol is not a sin, will u then start drinking if don't? Let's be very clear on what he said, he was expessly asked if self service is a sin and he answered no, but did not say it is right. There was a follow up to this issue as a result of the reaction it created, which nobody have mentioned. If we go by the bible, cigarette smoking was not mentioned and cannot be called a Sin, but does it make smoking right? No! Is it okay to eat food? Yes. Can eating of food becoming a sin? Yes (when one turns to a glutton).

I am not really a big fan of this debate but i am attracted by the bold part.
That comparison is wrong. Food in moderation is good but you cannot say same for smoking. Even passive smoking has been proven to be harmful to the human body. Taking in stuff that is harmful to the body in any dose whatsoever is a violation of God's temple (your body).
If the argument was made for alcohol vis a vis food, i would understand. There are even scriptures that admonishes and glorifies wine. The issue is moderation. Most avoid drinking as moderation is hard to determine.

I read comments like, "This long article". This is one of the problems with many today and that is why many are being deceived and religion makes money out of many. If you cannot sit down and read this kind of life changing and Grace filled article, I don't need to attend a bible school to know you are not reading and studying the word of God for yourself.

This article is approximately the size of two or three shortest book/chapters of the bible. The cares of this world has taken much of the heart of Christians and no one seems to have time for God and his word except on Sundays only. No wonder it is biblical ignorance many people pay for on Sundays as the religious merchants await their deals every Sunday morning.

Your comment reminded me of a famous quote by one of the greatest Christian apologetic that ever lived;
"There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight."
- C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters

I see your point about sin consciousness but ignoring the fact that sin is an issue simply because you are born again is like swinging from one extreme to the other. The devil loves both extremes,as long as you are not in the middle.

Masturbation definitely involves constant lustful imaginations which the victim indulges in as a means of vitiating sexual pressures. Students of demonology have discovered that those sexual images which follow masturbation are actually pictures from the marine world juxtaposed on the persons’ sub-conscious and he begins to imagine some sexy looking man or woman. Some persons get initiated into the company of a spirit husband or wife after orgies of masturbation. In addition, a masturbator will definitely get tired of the self indulgence and would want to experiment with actual sex, leading to fornication or adultery.

What is good & bad is written in our hearts too that's why we have guilty conscience whenever we do wrong. What satan uses to get us human beings is what he knows that satisfies or makes the flesh happy and masturbation can be one of them. Satan always use our flesh to take us away from God and most of the time we find it hard to resist.

There are certain things that cannot be openly said about God and the bible, in order not to mislead pple, but can be said to those that have received salvation, because they now inderstand and will not go back and start doing that which they weren't doing simply because they now understand better. Can a Pastor drink beer? Yes! Can/shd he drink beer publicly? No! Not because he is pretending, but because the unsaved won't understand.

Pastor Chris' messeage on self-service, alcoholism, smoking etc are primarily directed to his members who understand/shd understand and knw how to tackle such questions when faced by them outside. It wasn't a green card to go and practice them. Jesus was asked if it was right to pay tax, He was able to answer with wisdom because he was a Man of knowlege. That said, l believe everyone's purpose shd be to knw God personally and He will guide u on what is good or bad. He will dwell in u. Thanks.

The bible says that we shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free. This is one of the reasons why we meet the Holyspirit. John 14 vs 26. When the spirit of truth comes, he shall bring all things to your remembrance. When we read the bible and understand the contents, we can not be misled by anyone.

I read comments like, "OP is judging a MoG with the threat of the wrath of God". The same God who appoint a MoG also inspired the bible and gave His word as a living prove to test every man of God. What are you talking about? When people speak the truth about false teachings and life style and teachings of a man of God is checked and tested by the undiluted word of the Living God, some people call it being judgmental.

What is judgmental about speaking the truth? Oh, so because he is a famous man of God means he cannot to be controlled or called to order or confronted? What the Opening Poster did is biblical, contending for the faith that was delivered to us and the saints, the truth of the word of God MUST be PRESERVED. This is one of the reasons Christians are called and this is what the article is all about. Listen to this:

Jude 1:3-4
Common English Bible (CEB)

3 Dear friends, I wanted very much to write to you concerning the salvation we share. Instead, I must write to urge you to fight for the faith delivered once and for all to God’s holy people. 4 Godless people have slipped in among you. They turn the grace of our God into unrestrained immorality and deny our only master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Judgment was passed against them a long time ago.

Jude 1:3-4
Contemporary English Version (CEV)

3 My dear friends, I really wanted to write you about God’s saving power at work in our lives. But instead, I must write and ask you to defend the faith that God has once for all given to his people. 4 Some godless people have sneaked in among us and are saying, “God treats us much better than we deserve, and so it is all right to be immoral.” They even deny that we must obey Jesus Christ as our only Master and Lord. But long ago the Scriptures warned that these godless people were doomed.

Jude 1:3-4
J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)

3-4 I fully intended, dear friends, to write to you about our common salvation, but I feel compelled to make my letter to you an earnest appeal to put up a real fight for the faith which has been once and for all committed to those who belong to Christ. For there are men who have surreptitiously entered the Church but who have for a long time been heading straight for the condemnation I shall plainly give them. They have no real reverence for God, and they abuse his grace as an opportunity for immorality. They will not recognise the only master, Jesus Christ our Lord.
