Did Fashola steal your glory? Don't you have eyes or you have but you don't watch TV? And you think the Army will/may release a press stament when their personnel has been disgraced? You need not wait for any press stament. All you need do is learn the lessons from what was reported.

SO it is wrong to grant those Military officers, who are willing and ready to defend our failed country with their lives, just a little privilege like driving on an empty BRT lane . . . is that too much to ask for? Too much privilege to grant these officers? Really?

ndu_chucks: Some Nigerians are jokers! Fashola did not arrest anyone, if anything, he caused a massive traffic jam which resulted in millions of naira in lost revenues related to productivity losses enabled by Fashola's gustapo activities. I'm not sure you people know the meaning of arrest. BTW which law did Fashola break by stopping his convoy in heavy traffic? Isn't that a lawless act as well?

This stunt reminds me of those of American rappers, just before they drop CDs. I suspect Fashola's new PR firm will get a bonus for setting this one up.

Did you watch the video? I watched it and I knew he did the right thing.

Comments like yours reveal to me why Nigeria is in this awful mess that we are in. Try and get a little education before making comments henceforth...just a little

I honestly don't give a damn about your moral standards. I will state however that, most of what you wrote up there is not rocket science and is really common knowledge. Only a dullard will believe that there is no value in law enforcement.

Your rants however cannot rob me of my right to express my opinion. I maintain that this act by Fashola will not have any long lasting effect on the behavior of the people who break BRT rules. If you do not share my opinion that Fashola's act in this case is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt, that's your own cup of tea.

Our law enforcement agencies can do better than this one off crap by Fashola. Fashola has no business personally enforcing traffic rules, why breach your own security protocol for cheap publicity? undecided

I'm sure you'll clap for Jonathan for remaining silent on Farouk vs Otedola saga.

God help Nigeria!

Thank God he still has his life intact . . . he might not be this lucky next time. I hope he learns his lessons. He is not a police officer, it is not his job to arrest law breakers
What makes you think a Military chief will respect the Police and agree to be arrested or stopped by one? BTW, the governor has security details inclusive of Police FYI.

How did fashola broke the law? If i may ask who is the Chief security officer of the state ?
To me you seem to be unhappy at the sight of this man Fashola or the mention of Asiwaju, but im sorry for you

Do you have brain at all? Just thinking aloud
antitpiah:

That is wrong because the White people we look up to dont do that. A police officer/ public officer in the West will never break laws just so he/she could arrest you for a common traffic offense. Our Governor-in-chief wants to turn Lagos to small London and he cant even play the part of the Mayor of small London perfectly. He needs to watch more videos on how Governors in the West conduct themselves. He needs to realize that he is not the traffic enforcer-in-chief and he cant be every where at all times. There are professionals, Like LASTMA, with constitutional responsibility and legal backing to enforce laws as regards to conduct of commuters on the BRT lane. It is better we as a people copy our White masters to the letter and allow these professionals to do their job without fear or favor.

I watched the news yesterday and I saw how the Colonel was very apologetic and embarrassed. Even when Fashola was telling the LASTMA officials to arrest the vehicle, they stood still. The Colonel had to sit inside for a while before he noticed that the Governor was very serious. A brave move by Fashola. Please note that the Governor received commendations for his action from people, even those in traffic. We should learn to respect the law.

It is a terrible thing for a high ranking officer to violate the law. Nobody is above the law. I wish I was his superior, this is outright discharge for him. You need to see the abuses he received in the news and the shame he has caused the army. Over time, you hear the army claiming that they are not responsible for chaos, innocent killings, assaults and battering of civilians. I believe this has shown the whole world the real truth. The Army should reevaluate themselves and stick to being discipline everywhere they find themselves and not just the barracks.

PS: I think it is a shame for people to have negative views about this. We can never move forward if we continue to live a lawless life.
