Hello All,

Welcome to the non-christian chatbox where others of different beliefs and disbelief can come together and chat. We can share ideas, chat, exchange information, set up other groups and have fun!!! Atheists, Agnostics, Desists, Pagans, Satanists, Humanists, you are all wellcome.

Everyone is welcome to participate and have fun. Yes, christians and muslims too!!

In order to make this place as fun as possible, we must have rules so that everyone can participate fairly;

1) From the title, it should be clear that this is not a place to convert people to Islam or Christiainity. It is alright to ask questions of the "non-christains" but evangelism/dawah is seriously frowned upon here.

2) Personal information should not be shared here. It is better to set up Blackberry chat groups Facebook groups etc. with Personal Messages (PMs).

3) Memes should be kept to a minimum. From experience, pics and videos slow down the page loading for those browsing on slow internet. This is a turn off for potential "chatters".

Please, have fun!!

Nairaland christians do intentionally preach in our chat box...posting videos of church sermons...obviously against the rules.

You are very welcome, GayUncle. Though forgive me for being tentative since anyone can claim to be someone else, especially a deactivated account.

Oh! Why did your thread disappear?

Hi everyone, I love this chat. I want to inform atheists in here that we have created atheist community in Nigeria. I observed that non-believers in this hyper-religious county feels lonely and isolated. The need for non-believers to have people they can call brethren can not be overemphasized. We already have 980 members. If you're interested in joining the community, send me an email: crsj2020@gmail.com.
Thank you

Hello all, this question is borne out of a thread I read some days back about a girl who break with the op due to his atheistic position.

As a secular humanist myself, who is family-oriented and intend to raise kids in the near future. I believe I could get useful tips from your knowledge and experiences.

Kindly share, how do you guys cope with religious partners, long-term ones (wife or husband/ fiance or fiancee) in particular?
Do you get discouraged about their religious leanings, and, perhaps, de-convert them in the long run considering the low population irreligious persons in the dating pool?

3. Can two walk together, except they agreed? 4. Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? (Amos 3:3-4)

Why be with them if you don't have same beliefs? Religion transcends culture. People of different cultural background easily blend in, but not religion.

I'm not sure, but I think in Islam, a non-muslim man is not allowed to married a Muslim lady. That's how important it is. So this is a foundational problem.

It's common for two diferent religious people (muslim and christain) to date and even marry, in South West. As a pointer, Tinubu is married to Remi who is not only a christain but a pastor in RCCG.

There are many cases like that but it's a different ball game when it comes to irreligious vs religious. Asides the fact there are few irreligious ladies in our society, they are usually older too.

Religion does have its repulsive elements. Over the years, however, my fascination with religion has exceeded my disgust with it. I've had few relationships, but the one I recall most was enriched by the added dimension the other's spiritual life added to our experience together.

It seems most atheists gets to this point, eventually.

I get you. However "the other's spiritual life" might not matter in short-term relationship. I'm quite particular about long-term romance, say marriage, with a religious or spiritual partner. I would like to know if their belief turns out to be a stumbling block, going forward.
