Don't sweat out yourself trying to convince heretics. Sam is a coward! Many cowardly preachers will abandon some important principles of the Bible in order to be in the good books of end-time mockers and anti-christs. He is afraid to lose members. Tithe is a law! So it will remain till JESUS comes! I do not owe anyone an explanation! Believe it or go to the next church! Preachers of this generation have become very timid. What a shame!
The bible says the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has saved us from the burden of the law, but a lot of preachers (including yourself) preach otherwise. But the question which boggles my mind which no one has been able to answer is, why is it only the law concerning tithing that you choose to hold onto?... What about the other hundreds of laws? including those which prohibit men shaving side hair, the ones which prohibit wearing dual fabric garments, the ones which prohibit planting more than one seed in a garden, the ones which commans animal sacrifices etc. How is it that tithing is about the only law which most preachers still hold on tightly to even into the new covenant?

Lol...of course some of his members may be more learned than some members of K. Copeland's church.

Stop looking down on the intelligence of Nigerians. If we weren't intelligent, yahoo boys won't be successfully duping Americans and Europeans of thousands of dollars online.

Well said. We're so accustomed to putting ourselves down, and now we also believe it... Smh

For people that spend time criticizing pastors, you guys should focus more on evangelizing to the unsaved.

The reason why people argue about tithing is because most people are self centered. First have a giving heart, until then if you like give your 6 months salary without a giving heart you have done it grudgingly, thus no return. Everything starts from the heart. You see beggar you give, you see the poor help them. Evangelize to the unsaved.

If you have a giving heart, nobody will convince you otherwise on giving.

Above all, do not criticize other Christians whatsoever, criticizing will not make us holier when we all meet God
You might not understand the spiritual and psychological impact of teaching false messages, no matter how little. Teaching people that tithing is a mandatory requirement to be in God's good books, you obviously do not know how many people are left in the perpetual bondage of guilt by this particular teaching; you do not know how many spirits are left broken everyday because they for whatever reason may not be able to afford giving off 10% of their meagre income. Then some end up squeezing themselves to give and lose the blessings they should have gotten because they end up giving grudgingly when trying to make it up to 10%

The teachings of Christ are meant to bring peace to the hearts of men and not leave men in bondage of guilt; this is something Apostle Paul pressed on severely even when he taught that any giver should only give freely, whatever he makes out in his heart (i.e. not any specific percentage). You might think this is a trivial issue but do you know how many people who end up losing their blessings because of these prevalent "tithing is mandatory" teachings.

A lot of the mandatory tithing preachers even subtly mock and judge those who cant give and those who speak otherwise of being tight-fisted or self-centred as you described it. We should be very careful not to preach heresies and claim it is the mind of Christ.

Hearsay z too much

Lemme start with Kenneth Hagin book

This has been my thought for a while now because of his depth of revelation concerning the scriptures. I know he preached a balance and well-rounded approach to prosperity and even rebuked some preachers with extreme messages on prosperity.
However, the word of God remains the final authority as we shouldn't accept any doctrine that is not validated by scriptures.

It grieves me hearing people proclaim that the blessings of God is for tithers and givers.
U need not being told that even tithing is not a compulsory thing ti do but by choice. Even giving in entirety is by ur conveniences and the issue is not either old testament or new testament. The law of the spirit in christ jesus did not actually wipe off old laws(found in old testament) but it rather wipe off the severe punishment attached to breaking such law. The scriptures need not being twisted by phylosophers we now have in the world. What I give every month to God spiritually is even beyond 10% tithing and I have not for once regretted doing that.

It is quite unfortunate to hear some Nigerians say they are being blessed through tithing. being blessed ?without electricity, good pipe bore water, no good roads, poor academic standards, no health care, worst of all, no security . I really wonder the kind blessings they are talking about. Over 80millon Nigerians pay tithes. If they are sure they are blessed they should then stop complaining about their government . Taxes and tithes should generate physical results.

The truth is even in Israel today they don't pay Tithes. Why? Because the Levitical institution don't exist no more who ought to collect it. No more Tribe of Levi. This tribe don't do any business except the alter business.
Not so for our modern tithe mongers in our churches. They have several businesses including book writing etc
And yet...

Isn't it simple logic that God would have prevented rain from touching some people's compound, if we are blessed according to tithing/giving.

Interesting15:

But you are an atheist. You don't know God, then how did you know what God really wants?

The arguments I hear about tithing always surprise me cos it's clearly defined in the bible. Deuteronomy 14:22-29 clearly spells out that tithes are meant to be consumed by you and your family; only once in 3 years are you meant to give to the levites, and even then you aren't meant to give to the Levites exclusively, but rather also share it among the less privileged (e.g. widows, poor people etc.)

This crappy doctrine of tithes being exclusively the property of your pastor /church over which you can't seek accountability is pure balderdash. Plus, the Levites were to be given tithes via that didn't have any land or livestock, meanwhile, your pastor owns a pletora of for-profit schools, printing presses, media stations, aircrafts etc.

Mental laziness is probably going to help Satan do a number on Christians than spiritual laziness could ever achieve.

Even at that his position is not totally correct

Tithingis NOT NECESSARY ANYMORE AND OBSOLETE and is no longer supposed to be taught as either compulsory or not mandatory since the works of the law have been nailed to the cross. Whether or not it precedes the law is not the issue.

Of course you won't see the 10% crew swearing that they will continue to pay even if pastor gambles with their money

The folly of most Pentecostal Christians is downright nauseating
tithing in d Old Testament was never monthly,

Thank God you agreed that tithing is a law

Now did u read hebrew 7 and other scriptures that says we ain't under law.

Ask urself if God actually called all these false teachers, why is it that he (God) gave them different doctrines.

All these men are hunters of money by making men feel guilty with fear and empty their pockets to buy blessing yet we say that our God does not need ur money but just praise
