why build such an expensive house in the village where the properties won't appreciate as much as the ones built in the cities. the funniest thing is these people spend an equivalent of 20 days in those houses in one calendar year - such a waste of money and illogical reasoning.

Demain_man: Most Igbo villages are under developed and they look like forest if you ever watch Nollywood movies. I really hate that look when i see them on those movies being an igbo myself.

My people, please build in the villages so as to bring these places up to the 21st century standard. Our generation unborn will thank us for it. while at it, proper maintenance culture on those properties are needed so that houses built can last a very long time. Regular painting, nice landscapping readily comes to mind.

For any Local Government Chairman/State Governor reading this, please embark on proper village/town planning so as to give our villages a modern organisation rather than allow the people to put up structures in an unorganised manner.

Please follow the link and see the picture of Finchingfield village in Essex not too far from where I live. If every village is developed in Nigeria, people will live there and not create problems for themselves.

i am sorry for the person that born u. If u take nollywood film to judge igbo villages, then u need to enter ya mama belle again and be born and fed with ya mum's milk not cow milk. If u know any movie producer, ask them wich location they use most. Plateau has been their best location for those timid village settings.

sweet_gala: Yoruba do it as well. Although some might leave it till later in life and are less likely to build a very expansive building at their home town unless otherwise very wealthy.
However I have noticed that an average Igbo guy might start building a mansion during youth. It's all just part of common practice.

Most of those complaining about building mansion in the village and none in the city are broke a55 folks! If you have money, you can build a castle in the village and the same in the city without even thinking twice! War or no war!
