What do you expect when people say all songs are crap....In a dysfunctional society, the listening ears of the public is sub standard, as such your so called artist will feed you with sub standard tracks......we dont have an entertainment industry, what we do have is a dumbing down the masses industry.

But then again, they are making "money"....which of course should preclude no rational justification for sub standard entertainment.

why do they become hits in the first place if they do not have mass appeal?

Mr Everest:

You mentioned Eminado as trash? Like seriously?? No you can't be serious! That song is good, abeg cut Tiwa savage and Don jazzy some slack!!

Though most Naija songs are not outstanding when it comes to lyrics, but artists like Timaya, Terry G, Olamide( you heard right, his songs are very annoying to me, more like high pitched noise) Black face(thank God he has faded out) Davido( though he keeps improving) et al
Are you minding them. Calling a masterpiece like Eminado thrash.

basilo101: Music is nw biznes, not an art anymore. Customer satisfaction is d key 2 success in any biznes.

You are right my friend. Music is an art.

In a decaying society, Art if it is truthful must also reflect decay, unless it wants to break faith with its social function, ART/MUSIC must then show the society that it is changeable, and then help to change it.

If you understand the above quote, then you ll despise nigerian music..most of them.

Tiwa Savage wrote Collard Greens and Cornbread for Fantasia. Do you think someone like Tiwa doesn't know a classic? Please stop hating, Eminado is a classic.

Well, you have your drive to listening to a particular song. Those songs are not meant to teach you life morals. There are other songs for that, the ones you listen to and learn the art of living, inspiration etc. The trend in Naija music is not focused on morals. Nigerians want to dance away the sadness caused by the political class, hence and beat that makes them happy is an instant hit, coupled with massive airplay. When you're sipping something in the company of good friends and any of those songs you've listed come on, you need to see the joy it brings. That's the spirit of Naija hit songs, not necessarily the meaning. It's the liveliness!!! Let your mood decide what you listen to, or interchangeably put, let Naija hit songs brighten your mood. I love Naija songs

LOLZ naija peepz nothing can satisfy una...when our artiste dey sing good lyrics ya'll will say that song is boring now they are singing dance all music with no good lyrics ya'll are shouting naija artiste are whack? Even many american artiste don't have good lyrics but they all hit the limelight topping music chart.

I remember Terry G singing his first hit song like a r&b singer many people said the song is boring, he slam us with his free madness track we all dance to it like free madness patients "ginger ginger swagga swagga!!" grin am not in support of bad lyrics songs but as a naija fello we are used in focusing on beats alone and we dance to it that's why they call does songs "dance all music" just dance to it no lyrics grin

Rayvene: Virtually all Naija 'hit' songs.
But I'm just gonna name a few that really baffle me with their utter lack of meaning sad

Davido - Skelewu undecided

All Terry G songs sad

All Timaya's songs(especially Ukwu grin)

Kcee - Pullover(Seriously,I still can't believe he ACTUALLY went into a studio and recorded that shiit)

D'Banj - Scapegoat. And as if the main song wasn't bad enough,he had to go ahead and disgrace Naija, doing the remix with Kanye and all that embarassed

Oh,and let's not forget Stupiid Love and Durosoke by that noisemaking Lil-Wayne wannabe undecided

Ok those are the worst of the lot to me cheesy
I can see a hater in you. Dbanjs' scape goat was tight

Esin waju: Yes 2baba. The only 'A-list' Nigerian artiste that makes a whole lotta sense with his songs. Listening to 2baba's album is like reading a newspaper. When you read a newspaper, you read something different everytime you flip pages. When you listen to 2baba's album you get to hear something different as the tracks change and that is what I call being an artiste i.e ability to be diverse in sound, style and subject matter and no mainstream act(except Asa and she is not even based in Nigeria) does this better than 2baba.

Onr million LIKES !! U cldnt av said it beta.
