HELLO EVERYONE. ITS BEEN LONG SINCE MY LAST POST. HERE ARE SOME RENDERS. @5p1naz ANSWER TO UR QUESTION ON MY LAST POST, SORRY IT TOOK A WHILE. I PROMISE TO BE HERE MORE OFTEN. , I USUALLY DIRECT MY SUNLIGHT (VRAY SUN OR TARGET DIRECT LIGHT) TOWARDS MY WINDOWS TILL IM SATISFIED WITH THE SUN POSITION. CREATE THE VRAY SHADER FOR UR GLASS MATERIAL IN THE OPENING, BUT FOR THE SUN RAY TO PASS THROUGH THE GLASS, MAKE SURE THE "AFFECT SHADOWS" CHECK BOX UNDER THE REFRACTION SETTINGS IN UR GLASS MATERIAL IS CHECKED. I HOPE THIS ANSWERS UR QUESTION. REGARDS

@tee_bebe I visited your site. something about your renders. They look nice and promising. i like your camera angles. do you use "rule of thirds" for your "POV"?

It's cool to see there is a forum on VRay now let's resurrect this thread again this year...
here some past visualization done by me using AutoCAD and Revit(for modelling) then imported in 3dsmax rendering in VRay...hope you like them...exploring other modeling apps with time...

Nice, clean job DerrickM. However, you should work on your choice of colors. They are too saturated. Don't choose exact hues. Choose a slightly faded version of the color you have in mind.

I also noticed a sharp antialiasing filter (probably catmull rom). That's why you have black lines around your bright areas. To correct that, go to your color mapping tab, choose subpixel mapping. If that doesn't remove those black lines completely, choose clamp and use the default value.

One more thing is your map tiling in two of your first two images. They appear out of scale.

You are right about the anti-aliasing filter. It is just too obvious. I myself still don't understand the V-ray anti-aliasing system. It is quite tricky.

But I think the out-of-scale map tiling is just camera illusion not really out of scale. If I am right, I think DerrickM used a "fish-eye" camera view and rendered the view.

@TYMAX: Noted all your observations, thanks hope to improve in future renders, those dark areas were more of a vignetting issue than the antialiasing filter of Catmull Rom I found out while practising in my sparetime, getting the values of the shutter speed and Film ISO for either interior and exterior renders matter a lot with tweaks here and there. Just even recently read up on the need for adding Z-Depth to the camera before rendering for more reality check that up also.
About the tiles the size was deliberate though especially for that futuristic living room,I've bought such sizes to lay down in an office last year.

@PROF800: I sure do agree, when I did these renders I wasn't so knowledgeable about VRay and Photoshop as I am now so definitely needs more post-production there.
You got the idea of my fish-eye perspective I wonder why it is still seen as a strange view. Most times I get correct your camera view like I didn't know what I intended*lol*all good though...

I'm not sure you know what dark lines I'm referring to. Look around the roof light in the second living room. You will notice a black line around the circle, separating the over bright faces from the bottom of the ceiling. That is the effect of a sharp filter.

As for the tiling, you should rescale them. The stone material is out of proportion. Same as the blue marble floor tile. I have no issue with your camera setting.

Clamp the colors and notice the difference around those bright surfaces.

Your curves (in the second image) are not exactly round. Reduce the maximum deviation value for curves when importing your DWG models.

@FRANKBEN: Cool 3d pics,it doesn't matter what app you use whether it's 3dsmax,Maya,SketchUp Pro,Cinema4D,Blender etc as long as you used VRay as the render plugin that's all the forum is about, best regards & keep up the goodwork

Nice renders, with the way u use mental ray , i'll say u dont need vray, u seem 2 have mastered mental ray quite well.

As to getting vray for free, there are ways to download it online.
