@CGking
Nice series of jobs. I've been inspired to take my 3D a step or two further.

Any ideas on how I can improve the rendering on this image?

Re: V_ray Forum by sojioguns(m): 3:47pm On Dec 11, 2008
I am guessing you used Poser for the image. Poser (as far back as I can recall) does not have a good rendering engine. The lighting system is not up to par. So to achieve some level of photo realism, your workflow would be to do modelling and simple character animation in Poser then export to a higher end 3D app then you can do the proper lighting and texturing.
I don't know if recent versions of Poser have included a good rendering engine.
N.B: You also need to watch the modelling. The skin tears through the clothes. Higher end apps would correct this with their cloth engines.

Thanks people, appreciate the comments.

To improve that image, jsst like Soji said, you need to import it into a program like 3d max or maya and do your lighting there. You can also try out their material editors to create a material that will go with your lighting. If you are using mental ray,you could try the SSS Fast Skin Material.

Enjoy

@ billie,

Thanks my brother, but i am still trying to obtain the vray plugin o. I use mental ray. I f you still want the mental ray settings for this pc I could send it.

Take care and keep trucking.
Re: V_ray Forum by Kemjisuper(m): 12:40pm On Dec 16, 2008
@CGKing or Soji
Pls could any of you put me through on the right procedure for importing a Poser 3D image into 3Dmax9? My previous attempts all failed and all I had eventually was a 2D picture of the exact image. Can't achieve any real lighting with that undecided

Thanks
Re: V_ray Forum by sojioguns(m): 12:56pm On Dec 16, 2008
I think poser has an export to .3ds option, which is basically a mesh. But texturing a human in 3dmax is pretty complex for someone that hasn't been using it. Another format should be .dwg, also another mesh extension.
I remember there used to be a plugin for 3Dmax that allows you to import poser project files directly into 3dmax. Google that and you should be good.
Re: V_ray Forum by Kemjisuper(m): 9:39am On Dec 17, 2008
@Soji
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the 3dsmax - Poser plugin issue, as well as the .dwg option. Since autocad works well with it, I guess Autodesk 3dsmax9 should too. I'll also remember to try exporting the wireframe instead of the fully modelled 3d image, I'm sure that's where I went wrong!

Cheers cool
Re: V_ray Forum by sojioguns(m): 9:53am On Dec 17, 2008
Exporting wireframe? Never heard of that. There is a wireframe view in most 3D apps.

You just brought it to life with that powerful thingy.
Nice nice thingy.
I have to get the Vray plugin to really rev up my renders.

My most current animated project , rendered with Mental Ray

If being bored and lazy makes one this creative - then I'll quit my job!!! LoL cool
Re: V_ray Forum by codename47(m): 1:05pm On Apr 22, 2009
@kemjisuper: lol
@Zipixel : gotta be careful when using vray fur, it takes a huge chunk of ur pc and takes enough time to render, have not had the courage to use it to make a rug because i fear it might take forever.
Re: V_ray Forum by damseremie(m): 2:29pm On Apr 24, 2009
Hi people, haven't done some pure 3d work in quite some time, so last night i looked into a folder i have on my system called "Ongoing Projects" and saw some blueprints of a simple character a friend of mine had sketched over a year ago. (we had planned to do a simple animation).I convinced myself o start work on the model and two hours later this is what i had,
It's kinda still a vray job cause i used vray 4 this basic renders and it will be my final output renderer
wat do u think?

its still work in progress ohh?

I agree. . . .I like the way art and science come into play in the whole three Dimensional art illusion. . . . . . ,   .

the way it actually comes to life keeps me in awe. . . . . . . It plays games with a different part of my visual perception,

but the effect is even more mysterious. Its absolutely genius!!!  wink smiley

Re: V_ray Forum by CGKing(m): 1:36pm On Apr 29, 2009
Good one dams.

One question: It seems vray is good for arcitechtural renderings but not for
character rendering. Am I correct Dams? Also I know you use maya, I have never
heard that vray was available in Maya, so was it a stand alone software you used?

This was done with mental ray, I ve not seen a character rendered with vray yet.

You're partially wrong, ppl use vray for character rendering. its jst mainly used for arcitechtural rendering.

I have never
heard that vray was available in Maya
there's Vray for maya2008
