I have been following this thread with keen interest. I consciously refused to comment since because I know what the turn out will be like. But at this stage, I refuse to be an on looker but a contributor for the thread to flow. I know some people will be accusing HardMirror of being a satanist and blah blah blah. But I can tell you guys he is not one based on personal experiences of my own when I rejected religion. There was nothing I was not accused of.... Even My own mother accused me of being a cultist, kidnapper, diabolic agent and what have you all in an effort to throw me off balance. But I knew deep down me that I was none of these. I knew I was not a cultist coz I have not joined one before and will not join one. I knew I was not a kidnapper because I have not thought of not to talk of kidnapping someone. I knew I was not into diabolics because right from childhood, I have never believed in those stuffs.

All in all, those accusations from her, priests and relatives were made to push me off balance. They wanted to attack my psyche which is partly how religion works. They will chain your senses (physically through lies/deception)and try to control you by words of mouth. If they succeed, they tell you that the holy spirit is in control but if they are unsuccessful, they say that satan is in control. The funny part is that if you compare your morality with that of those accusing you, you will find out that you are far off better than them! #Fact!

Everything aside Hardmirror, though I am an "Atheist" in quote, I want to assure you and fellow "Atheists" that there is a Creator. This creator or source or nature as I usually call it, is far above what humans can ever understand! It is unknowable and can never be known. No science, religion, spirituality or whatever can explain it. All these gimmicks you see humans perform in the form of science, religion or whatever are just basic attempts to understand what confuses them. Humans are just trying to give themselves hope by inventing a whole lot of things like religion, science and metaphysics.

But I do believe that there was an ORIGIN. I stand to be corrected though.

You're right, yes human beings wants to understand the world around them, but of all the institutions you mentioned, religion, science, metaphysics, which do you think has made the most realistic progress so far? obviously science. Science appeals to reason via mathematics and logic, research and experiments. religion gives you absolute answers, untested, some even claim to be the mouthpiece of the creator. Science has made more impact on human lives far more than religion. If the universe has an origin, isn't it best to rely on scientific explanations instead? Dont forget science doesn't claim absolutism, whenever a new knowledge is brought forth, the old one is discarded. So why dont we follow science to understand the world little by little as much as we can. Science explains reality in a physical sense, religion sees reality with their spiritual binoculars which sadly their interpretations contradicts each other in many ways. I still dont understand why religious people want finished answers in this world of so much uncertainty, when we can try to understand the world one step at a time. I'd like to point something out, christians on this thread and it's first part are mainly filled with religion fanatics who argue only just for the sake of clarity.
Might not be all of them, but reading some comments by christians and other religion followers on here attacking atheists and agnostic alike, and gently reinterpreting their undertones one would realize, they indeed need a push to abandon their believes they already on edge, they have already lost a chunk amount of their faiths that's why most are still hanging around.‎

I'd use this medium to appeal to non-believers in here, we all know how long it took for us to shake our believes, for pete's sake, many believers were introduced to religion before they even started crawling about, it's a belief system they've trusted for decades, it's not going to be easy, it's the biggest form of brain wash in our world, and it took a lot of soul searching for most of us to realize this.

I recall before I lost my faith and was searching for the truth, during my first degree, the first time I checked foreign religion blogs where atheists and likes converge, I didn't see a gathering of sane minds, it feels like those of devil reincarnates spreading the anti-christ gospel, heck it took a lot of chutzpah for me to realize I had been fed a whole bunch of colossal guano growing up.

So we should be lenient, most believers here are searching for the truth, that's why they keep coming back, soon they'd know the truth, and hopefully not too late and it would set them free.

I asked if it was true, and they said it was. Asking them why it was that when I tried to read it, all I saw were contradictions, they took me back to my life's review again - something that I had overlooked. They showed me, for the few times I had opened the Bible, that I had read it with the idea of finding contradictions and problems. I was trying to prove to myself that it wasn't worth reading.

I observed to them that the Bible wasn't clear to me. It didn't make sense. They told me that it contained spiritual truth, and that I had to read it spiritually in order to understand it. It reveals itself to you. And you don't have to work at it anymore.

My friends answered lots of questions in funny ways. They really knew the whole tone of what I asked them, even before I got the questions out. When I thought of questions in my head, they really understood them.

I asked them, for example, which was the best religion. I was looking for an answer which was like, "Presbyterians." I figured these guys were all Christians. The answer I got was, "The best religion is the religion that brings you closest to God." Asking them if there was life on other planets, their surprising answer was that the universe was full of life. JESUS IS LORD!!!

The fortunate unfortunate thing about this thread is that, the Christians/Moslems who view it all know that their god don't answer prayers, some of them have prayed and fasted and cried, some have blamed god, threatened god, cajoled god, tested god, toasted god, bribed god but dammit, god HAS NEVER ANSWERED their prayers...not even ONCE.


But then, church is entertainment for most, it is like a social gathering done once or twice a week, the nude girls, the 'worldly' songs, the businessmen cum motivational speakers(named pastors) and the state of the art musical instruments that makes them forget their sorrow once in a while. People who hold on to religion don't have a choice until they start to use their brains... It's actually better to have them believe in god(esp in Nigeria) than to take that away from them...what else do they have? Nothing is working, no hope for the common man except his belief in god and false miracles.


The suffering out here(in Nigeria) is too much, and even though god is not answering prayers, at least, let them believe he will, one day.

You were once a christian, so I am sure you'd understand the feeling of those of us that will try to shut you up, insult you, and condemn you to hell.

Interestingly, even some of the apostles if they were around, might do the same. Its human nature and hardly peculiar to christians.

However, lets assume that Jesus actually was what he was made out to be (I believe he was, and let's not bother about the concept of God at this point).. I am convinced that he would not have condemned you, then and even now. In fact, I suspect that he would have rebuked the christian hawks circling you right now

Glory be to God, after two weeks she was invited for another interview with the same bank and was employed. I can count more than ten other miraculous things God has done since then. So dont be deluded that God answers prayer, however, even if God does not answer prayer, he remains my God forever because my relationship with Him is not based on answering prayer but feeling the warmth of His presence in every area of my life.
