case of Lagos is different. I've been to Isele Uku and talked with indigenes. Igbo is a major language so it can easily influence some people around them. And Igbos have high population and have a way of trying to igbonize everything they come in contact with and they seem to succeed most times. I'm saying this from experience.

The founders can be from anywhere bro...what matters is the identity of the person and the identities show they're all Igbo,from Ezechima of the Onicha group to Ezemu of the Ubulus to the Ogeles of Agbò
Moreover history has it that before ewuare's reign in 1440, Igbos made up of half of Benin's population but by the end of his rule in 1473, the Igbo population had fled East resulting in the collapse of Ogidi kingdom that was ruling over Anioma then. These newcomers then established new statelets thereby introducing Bini political systems to these areas.

All the books on Anioma history I've read call him Ezechimæ(that æ letter I used is for variability depending on whether you call him ezechima or ezechime).
The question everyone is asking which I'd join to ask is how did their names change from Edoid names like we see in Edoid languages eg urhobo, ishan, Bini to Igboid languages eg ika or even ikwere?

I wouldnt consider slave raids as living under Benin Empire. They never crossed the River Niger. The only people that did were the Anioma.

Benin Kingdom was powerful in 15 centry due to trade with portugese and later British. Weapons exchanged for slaves and palm oil.
