The funny thing is that "statistics" are never wrong! In my church (and l want other Nairalanders to conduct this research too, in their own church), *The Church started with about seven (7) women, the Pastor and his wife. *Today, about 70% of the church adults are women. *About 70-75% of "church workers" (Ushers, Sunday School, .e.t.c) are women *About 60% of these women are divorced/separated from their husbands! Another 25% are "earnestly looking for husbands (30yrs+ age) *On this particular forum, majority (about 65%) of those saying "Pay the Money, ask no questions" are women *Most churches properties are "registered" as a CHARITY and therefore "Tax Exempt" but in the name of the Pastor (and his wife!!) ITS UP TO ANYONE TO DRAW THEIR INFERENCES FROM THESE FIGURES BUT I AM WORRIED ABOUT WOMEN, JUST LIKE ADAM WAS, IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN! BTW: In a country where INDUSTRIES and INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSES ARE CONVERTED TO CHURCHES, are we still surprised that: *We remain one of the most technologically backward and dependent countries in the world? *Lack the basic amenities of life, like stable electricity, despite the abundance of wealth in our land? *That we are ruled by "monkeys" masquerading as Political/Democratic heavy-weights? *That we produce nothing are import virtually everything *That even the Caucasians (Americans/Europeans/whites in general) that attend less church, have less churches per square-Km of land space, enjoy a far-better standard of living and live longer than we Nigerians? I think we should all buy Fela's Album (Suffering and Smilling) and listen to the lyrics, (even if you hate his lifestyle and cant stand his Ganja ). That is the only "God ordained Overseer/Preacher" l have seen in my life time in Nigeria; the current ones are just PIMPS and super con-men I SORRY FOR MA-PEOPLE |

This ''pastors'' or ''priests'' or whatever they call themselves, are employing advanced forms of hypnosis and psychological manipulation to make their victims (ie attendees) part with their wages. This should be against the law. The argument that ''nobody put a gun to their heads to pay money'' is ludicrous. |

Mr Alaper, Tell me one church that uses rope to tie any of his or her member down to his church. those of us that obey it is out of cheer willingness which is in line with the bible and we have testimonies to show for it while people like you that never practiced it run here and there criticizing. i think you better use your time for something more productive |

chines4:Not January Salary, or but If your to follow scripture your first salary, when you started work. Not January salary. The first fruit from the land that the good Lord have given then, Not every first Month or Every Year Or what do you have to say about this Law Deut. 23 vs 2 "No one born out of wedlock or any descendant of such a person, even in the tenth generation, may be included among the Lords people" The Law in the scripture is to act as a guide, and it equally reflects on the happening of the time. |

Is there a way to help these people? I will encourage you to read 1 Chronicles 13:8-11. Care must be taken when you want to help on things of God. What could be done is for all christian to read the bible themselves and form a perfect relationship with God. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide you to discern the true voice of God. |

Things of the spirit cannot be understood by minds of the flesh. These people are simply engaging God in his faithfulness. Much of my success today I attribute to bold steps of faith such as this. |

How in the world did I missed this thread in 2011 What in the world happened to me Okay, I remember what happened - I went fishing . Scripture says, the law (of Moses) was ONLY a SHADOW of good things to come and NOT the very reality of the good things. In the law of Moses, the firstfruit is a picture\(fore)shadow of Christ's resurrection and believers' resurrection to life after Christ. Those who preach or teach firstfruit for Christians are peddling the word of God for MONETARY gain because firstfruit is a type and shadow of resurrection and Christ already fulfilled it. Take a look, King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.) But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. Expanded Bible (EXB) But ·everyone [each] will be raised to life in the right order. Christ was ·first to be raised [ the firstfruits]. When Christ comes again, those who belong to him will be raised to life, 1 Corinthians 15:23 |
