I thought ASUU are set of intellectuals.. if the govt isn't really doing good accept the offer for now .. the student are at the receiving end...

It's high time they shift ground.

Why not take FG to industrial court
The problem is that their withheld salaries, they believe if they resume now, they will lose it totally.
FG should leave ASUU alone for now, let them self destruct.

Useless union!

Other unions that called off their strike temporarily are not stupid.

FG should sack any member that decides not to resume.

But I will say it again, if schools are still shut and campaign starts, if any APC politician come my side, I go stone am to death.

This is really frustrating ! If I'm feeling this way, I wonder how my students are feeling! One thing I've realized is that this present administration don't place any value on education in Nigeria and no matter what we do, they will not yield to us and the students will continue to pay for the sins of the government because in reality; students are the ONLY losers! Isn't it about time we consider our students? It's just so sad
But isn't ASUU inconsiderate as well, ma'am?

Let the selfishness of ASUU continue. I support the FG on the issue of "no work, no pay". Let them prove they deserve to be paid by approaching the court. Otherwise, ASUU is a problem of Nigeria's university education.

What do they want that other unions do not deserve? It is all about their selfish interest and nothing on the plight of the students and parents.

Bunch of liars!!

Yes, I'm beginning to think ASUU can do better! If we are allowed to vote individually, most of us will vote to resume

If not, why are you now telling your fellow ASUU strikers that enough is enough after SIX months?

Why don't you wait for ONE complete year so that we can conclude that ASUU can actually strike for a WHOLE season?

I hope you've realized now that the longer you stubborn ASUU lecturers continue to strke; the more the pay you guys are going to lose following the no work, no pay policy?

So you beter warn your fellow strikers.

Not all lecturers were in support of the strike from the beginning.
We were talking about it in class in January and one of my lecturers said we all should just manage and endure this government for now.

I ran into my HOD last week in a restaurant, he told me they had just concluded a meeting, and that they are considering to go indefinite. I told him it doesn't matter even if they strike for two years, it's not affecting the people they think they are fighting and it's not working. He said it's true, but that the people are not doing enough. Meaning ASUU are expecting the public to protest and help them put pressure on the government.
For now, ASUU are on their own. At this point, NLC or NANS won't come out and say they want to protest.

Truth be told, most of the issues under contention are clearly ASUU's faults. When you talk of basic amenities, is there on University in the country without TEDFUND intervention? The answer is no. Some Profs. in some universities utilize the funds judiciously, while some embezzle the funds with their cohorts and later hold students to ransom. The earlier the government proscribe this idiots called ASUU, the better the future of Nigerian Students. Afterall, they are all after their pockets to the detriment of Nigerian students.

You are right.

Not all lecturers are in support of the strike.

In fact, my very close friend, a Graduate Assistant who is also running her Masters is so angry right now because the strike has stopped her from getting ahead in her career.

But the truth is that ASUU should have read the handwriting on the wall a long time ago and see that this government is not the best government to drag their issues with.

There is a point you reach in a fight whereby even the people you are fighting for will abandon you.

ASUU is almost at the point now.

It doesn't matter.
Whatever they decide, they will be on the losing side together with the students for the first time.

Having read that FG gave them a take it or leave it offer in the last meeting, if they choose to continue with the strike, then they won't be called to any meeting anytime soon, and will continue to live without salaries as a lot of people continue to move on and forget about them.

Some state universities are just waiting for ASUU to declare indefinite strike, so they can pull out of the strike.
Even the military cannot destroy ASUU.
Today naira is on a free fall to the dollar.

A professor of medicine earns less than 600 dollars per month, 600 dollars. And you want him to dedicate all his time and develop the students and the country? God have mercy on Nigerians.
