I just went back to read previous chapters!! It’s Athena that drives the Honda �� she’s probably broken after what she heard in the toilet and wants some company or came to see her father�� I don’t know why I am still rooting for Athena and Oga to still comeback together eventually

I was not trying be unpredictable. It's clear as night and day who drives that car. I stated it in one of the earlier updates.

Not totally broken, but the cracks are there. I know why you still root for her and that's what I wanted to achieve. Athena is not a bad girl in the sense of things. Just circumstances. Not to give away much though. Please stay tuned.

Will do my best to make the updates as much as possible bro. I usually don't post updates on weekends cos that's the only time I have to rest and relax from the stress of the week.

My apologies, but I will not be able to post an update today. A rather unfortunate set of circumstances came up this morning in which I had to involve the authorities. I will resume posting once I clear this issue.

My apologies, today's update will be a bit short.

Richard reached into the locker to pull out one of the white coats with his name stenciled in gold and black letters. He was already running late for his rounds. He had about ten patients to see that morning before the scheduled surgery at two o’clock. What a night, he thought. What a strong, fervent night. They had made such hot, passionate sex, going on and on until they were drained. He couldn’t count how many times she had begged him for more, urging him on and on. It was as if he had unlocked a floodgate of her sexuality and it had all come bursting out like a ruptured dam. By the time they finally passed out from exhaustion, the first rays of dawn had begun to light up the sky outside.

He slipped the coat over his broad shoulders, and his eyes caught the picture taped to the back of the locker. The guilt he felt in the taxi earlier as he started at the picture of him and Athena. It was a portrait picture of them – he carried her on his back and her lips were pressed on his cheek. The love clearly showed in their eyes. He remembered when they took that picture, a time when they were still so deeply in love, and the guilt he felt in the taxi returned. What happened to them? Where did it go massively wrong? He quickly pulled the picture off and shoved it in his pocket. He didn’t need to feel guilty, he told himself. There’s no need to beat himself over having an affair with a younger girl. They were already divorced.

He headed to the wards and conducted his rounds. Most of the patients just needed checkups, and over the next hour he spent most of the time checking symptoms, prescribing pain medication, talking to family members, and so on. The last patient on his list was in room 1206. He headed there slowly.

“There’s no need to be stressed,” the man was saying in a weak voice as he walked in, “I know you are very busy…Richard is here to take care of me.”

Richard walked closer to the bed. “Oh, you’re here…”

“Yes father.” He responded. He noticed a shapely figure crouched on the other side of the bed in front of the small fridge. The frame had blocked his view earlier.

“Good morning…darling,” Athena greeted as she rose with a cup of water in her hand.

There was a dark look on her face. He hadn’t seen her since two nights before, and that was even very briefly.

“Uh…yeah…g-good morning,” he responded.

“Didn’t you come from home together?” her father asked.

Athena turned to him. “Richard worked overnight in the hospital yesterday.”

“Y-yeah…I…uh…had some things to finish up…and patients to monitor…it was my turn for the graveyard shift...so how are you feeling today sir?”

“Oh…I’m doing fine,” he replied weakly, “just that parts of my body itches.”

“Ahh, that’s a side effect of the anti-cancer medication, it makes the skin dry. I can prescribe an ointment to help with the itchiness.”

“There’s no need,” Athena’s father said, “that nurse helps me apply some ointments onto the itchy spots everyday…it helps a lot.”

“Oh really.” Athena responded.

“Yes…she is a bright and very cute too…speak of the devil.” His eyes brightened. Athena and Richard turned to the door to see Avery walk in, a tray of tubes and instruments in her hands. She stopped short when she saw them. The heavy gaze Athena gave her made her cower a bit, but she stood her ground.

“I…uh…I did not realize you had a visitor…I mean Dr. Richard…I…I’ll come back afterwards,” she made to turn and leave.

“What are you talking about?” Athena asked. Her gaze was still heavy and penetrating. “Go ahead and do what you have to do. Don’t mind us.”

Avery stood hesitantly. “T-then, I-I’ll go ahead and take your blood pressure…you’re IV is still very full, I’ll change it in the afternoon.”

She carried on her duties under the watchful eyes of Athena. Every now and then she fidgeted and dropped an instrument, but generally managed to comport herself. She rounded up by checking the IV once more.

“That’s all. I should be heading off…”

“Nurse, please wait a moment.” Athena’s voice stopped her in her tracks.

“Y-yes?” Her intense gaze prevented her from meeting Athena’s eyes.

“My dad praised you for meticulously taking care of him…” Athena said.

“No…that’s just my job…”

“…I honestly would have to trouble you to take care of him very well…”

Something in her voice made Avery look up.

“O…kay…”

She glanced over at Richard, “I would also like to bother you to keep an eye on my HUSBAND as well…”

“What?” Avery asked in surprise. “K-keep an eye on your...husband? W…what d-do you mean by that?”

Athena smiled and walked over to where Richard stood. She took his arm and pressed her body into him.

“My husband is a bit…how can I put it…yes, fickle.” She stared at a clearly befuddled Avery. “he generally likes the young ones…I want you to keep an eye on him for me, okay?”

“O…kay.”

“Great.” Athena beamed. She planted a kiss on Richards cheek, leaving an impression of her ruby-colored lipstick which Avery did not fail to notice.

Damn..
