Some days ago,a grown up man fell down after walking for hours looking for money on empty stomach.

We had to give him water to drink, got him a loaf of bread, then contributed 2k for him,a family man for that matter with a wife n 4 kids waiting to be fed at home.

Aaaaaahhhhh! Things have gone truly bad for Nigerians because of an anti-government policy that we don't know whether it will fail or succeed.

We that are just an average family is barely surviving, no work since this policy has shut down business. You can't even see job to do again, we are only hoping on God to survive the next day since it is already uncertain. I pray God see us through this very difficult period Amen

This policy is really recking businesses and disrupting lives. I've resorted to eating biscuits and soft drinks in the afternoon. To eat a proper dinner Na wahala. Why? The vegetable sellers will not accept transfer.

This Emefiele needs to go please.

Who told you transfer is how you buy things cashless. Card payment is cashless payment not phone transfer. Next time use POS machine to transfer the money to the seller.

This and many more is proof that Nigerians deserve to experience this cash confiscation. Most businesses that ought to have POS machine to enable cashless payment don't have it. The government have to confiscate cash to force them. Even now most of them have not gone to get POS machine for their business.

Imagine just the other day I went to a seller of building materials to buy two bags of cement and nails, the shop is filled with all sorts of building materials, even selling wheelbarrows, but the man does not have POS machine. Both of us went to the POS agent next door and I paid the person N200 to transfer the money from my card to man's account.

When I think of the fact that this man has brand new big gen that he puts on whenever there is no light, but till last week doesn't deem it important to acquire a POS machine I can't help but believe that Nigerians deserve to experience this cash confiscation.
I'm not sure you live in Nigeria; if you do, you are being delusional! My mum has a couple of declined POS transactions that had her account debited despite being declined, likewise some other people that I know of or have read/heard about even here on Nairaland. We are simply not ripe for this cashless policy!

This cash crunch is no longer funny, i have resorted to going to shop only 3times a week now even trekking a reasonable distance to save cost so as to have small change for my dependents. The scarcity have really affected businesses that one have to appreciate any customer that will ask you "sister/ma how much" even without later buying .

I still have over 60k of d new money in cash....I had actually withdrew alot of money around early January at any ATM I could find.....I always have this instinctive feeling, most Nigerian policies always end up as shyt...B4 they eventually work or sometimes outright fail...So when people where busy washing d money online & checking for quality, I was busy accumulating..shared some with family... business also brings a bit of cash too.... Anyways, am pretty sure after d election things would return to normal

Bro, take your old money and locate the nearest Justrite store. I was at their Ibafo branch on Friday and they collected up to 4,000naira payment in old money before my very eyes. Buy stuffs and resell to recoup your money.

The situation isn't funny at all and many Nigerians are really suffering due to this policy.

Let me share a very short and sad story with you.

I was at the market yesterday to get some groceries and provisions for the house. I made the payment via transfer because I didn't go with my ATM card. Unfortunately, I was debited immediately but the vendor didn't receive alert on his end.

I came to his shop around 3pm. You wouldn't believe that I waited till 6:30pm thinking that the alert will come in.

Lo and behold, Mr. vendor didn't get the alert.

I hard to return all the stuffs I bought. He collected my phone number and told me that he will call me once he sees the alert so that he can transfer my money back to me.

I was angry but I had to receive sense immediately because it wasn't his fault. He was just trying to play safe too.

I came home angrily and

Painment was I had to borrow 100naira to come back to my place of business.

Sofia pains was all the sales I made today were mainly transferred into my acct, some sef I never see alerts.

Foolishness was only #300 followed me home at all at all naim bad.

The other day I bought 10k and the charges was 3k, honestly e pain me.

No, he hasn't but he called me that he has seen the alert.

I haven't gone back to him yet due to my busy schedules of the day.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. The difference is that I couldn't wait. So, I made another transfer to the trader.
Luckily for me the first one I sent to her was reversed today.

Ok, I needed cash and all the pos guys doesn’t have, I approached a okada man with the offer to transfer him 2000 for 1500 cash and he agreed.
But I something told me, this aboki won’t give you money if he doesn’t get alert considering how bank doesn’t send alert in time nowadays,
I decided to take him to pOS guy who charged 200 to withdraw the money from my account and send it to him, at least I can go my way while they sort out themselves.

That was how I ended up losing 700 to withdraw my hard earned 2200 , I was given 1500 , I saw bottle water when I was thirsty but I couldn’t buy .

It shall not be well with Emefiele and his children

Nigerians should imagine how much the banks are making now, they charge for every transaction you do, so I don’t think they will ever reverse this policy, because they wouldn’t have been able to charge me anything for buying anything if I was holding cash, but they now know all my secrets and even charges me when I pay for a pack of condom , when I eat in the restaurant, when I give my side chick money and when I pay for public toilet service.
My bank keep taking commission

Quest7777:
Was at Access Bank last Tuesday where I gladly collected 20k old 500naira notes thinking that CBN had complied with SC ruling.
Was later pissed off when I realised the money was being rejected. Was even more pissed when same Access bank rejected the money.

Though the policy wasn't a bad one, but CBN failed woefully to print enough notes & strictly monitor the distribution.
Effect is that so many small businesses have crumbled & Nigerians are being subjected to untold hardship for lack of cash. embarassed

Doubt if Nigerians can continue like this for long. It's either CBN issues enough notes or they revert back to the old notes.

So in this country supreme court don't have power again
It is well. What a country.

Sometimes I question the type of democracy we practice in Nigeria.

You don't have anything in Nigeria.

It's not democracy in any sense, however remotely.

What you have is a milieu of 250 lily livered people being run over by a few rich men who control the institutions that don't work.

Only a revolution can change this narrative.

Until then, it's suffering and smiling and dying.

The thing is that the policy is a good one, but Things like this will not work in a zoo country like Nigeria,
Those bank Managers was the first to sabotage the policies.
Our politicians are the second set of people.
And we the masses too.
Can you imagine i wanted to enter bus at oshodi to tollgate the driver said he will not collect transfer and i met a woman selling gala, she said i must buy 500 naira gala add extra 200 before she can give me cash of 1000. So can you now see that we the masses too are the set of people that make the policy difficult.
We always like to take advantage of each other.
The main fact is that there is no love at all in this country.

The policy and its implementation are entirely bad. You guys should get education, there is no cashless policy/economy anywhere in the world.

What people are ignorantly believing to be cashless economy in developed countries are simply digital economy. In digital economy, people has a luxury of transacting digitally without much hindrance. They use cash when it necessary. At least if you have never leave the shore of Nigeria before, you can make little research about what is going on in developed economy your foolish leaders are ignorantly copying.
