Standing5:
subsidy was provided for until June 30th. We aren't in June yet.

it was provided for by law but the money doesnt exist. people probably do not understand that it isnt like there is some money somewhere and we decided to spend it on subsidy. All the money we have been spending on subsidy was borrowed. it got to a point where there was no where to borrow and we were paying for the subsidy using an illegal means called ways and means and borrowing from NNPC.

When people talk about Buhari incuring huge debts....now you know where the debts came from...we were borrowing to fund subsidy for 8 years at almost $10b a year. Now there is nowhere to borrow money from. Even the govt owes NNPC money.

if NLC like let them cripple the country, when they are tired and realise there is no money and people start getting tired of being at home they will open the country. I would rather suffer strikes for 6 months than spend I more Naira on subsidy. I just read an article that Buhari has 16trillion Naira worth of uncompleted projects. That is the amount we spent on subsidy for 2 years that has gone up in the smoke of exhaust pipes with nothing to show. money that could have been used to complete road, rail, power projects, we have burnt in smoke and some eediot NLC is talking about subsidy. ko ni da fun NLC!!

No one should complain , people knew what they were getting into when they voted for APC and tinubu never kept it a secret of what he will do .

“No matter how long you protest, we’ll remove fuel subsidy”: Tinubu

He said Nigeria cannot “continue to subsidise fuel consumption in neighbouring countries.

Forget it. If NLC declares strike now. The masses will support them ,and the govt will blink eyes. Don't try combined efforts of NLC and frustrated citizens. D govt will be overthrown

But subsidy has not been removed. You all need to brace up for more. Subsidy will go in June, based on the budget. Thereafter we should see what prices should be like, based on market forces.

Are you not smart to know that all was politics? Did APC use NLC?Do you expect the opposition parties to support all government policies? NLC should not allow the loser party -LP to use them to fight the government. Let LP do the criticism themselves. That's the beauty of democracy instead of using NLC which may backfire.

Are you in Nigeria at all when these things happened, the way you talk make me asked this question, or you have short memory or you are demential. The NLC leads protest and back it up with indefinite strike action, you now saying rubbish that NLC was not involved, go and ask your senator oshomole, he will lecture you.

N3TRAL:
The NLC are empty individuals. Government didn't fix petrol prices, NNPC did for their filling stations.

By virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act, NNPC is a private company and no longer a government corporation. The price fixed by the NNPC are independent.

Filling stations that are not under the NNPC franchise can sell at whatever price they want.

Let's face it, the NLC wanted their party to win. The leadership of the trade union endorsed the Labour Party during this year's general elections.

It is painful when groups try to stall genuine and pertinent economic plans because they're not in power. It is counterproductive to play politics when its time for governance. Tinubu himself and the most members of the APC countered Jonathan when he started the process of removing fuel subsidy many years ago.

However, the NLC and sister organisation the Labour Party will fail to stop the removal of fuel subsidy and will fail to win elections in 2027 😂

Why then is government threatening and/or sealing private fueling stations?

Some of you are just unbelievable

This is a moment of sacrifice and endurance that would surely lead to better and prosperous times ahead.

Subsidy is self serving and clog in the wheel of national economic development.
