As long as you and your loved ones buy fuel at the same price as the rest of Nigerians...I am OK

N3TRAL:
The NLC are empty individuals. Government didn't fix petrol prices, NNPC did for their filling stations.

By virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act, NNPC is a private company and no longer a government corporation. The price fixed by the NNPC are independent.

Let's face it, the NLC wanted their party to win. The leadership of the trade union endorsed the Labour Party during this year's general elections.

It is painful when groups try to stall genuine and pertinent economic plans because they're not in power. It is counterproductive to play politics when its time for governance. Tinubu himself and most members of the APC countered Jonathan when he started the process of removing fuel subsidy many years ago.

However, the NLC and its sister organisation, the Labour Party, will fail to stop the removal of fuel subsidy and will fail to win elections in 2027 😂

But in 2012, Tinubu and his ilks dictated to us through NLC by declaring protest against subsidy removal by Goodluck Jonathan.... hope you remembered Occupy Nigeria protests at ojota

Jonathan was so weak!

He goofed big time for allowing tinubu, Buhari, Elrufai, oyegun and Co to intimidate him.
He bowed to pressures because he wants to please the north and because of his second term ambition.

He was indecisive and weak.

@Hoelujohn
So any filling station can fix whatever price they want to? Even if it's 1k per litre? You need mental evaluation.

@me
What you just typed is the essence of deregulation. It brings competition. Do you know that many people that were given licences to build private refineries backed out because of pump price regulation?

Do you know that all our neighbouring countries depend on Nigerian smuggled fuel because our smuggled fuel is cheaper than their imported fuel. If the savings are channeled properly it will reduce borrowing.

To me the timing is right and this is a good one from BAT. If he settles down before taking this decision too much poliking will come into play and it will be further postponed. Bubu ought to have taken this decision but the cabal that feed from subsidy made him to chicken out.

The good thing about BAT is that he's smart, courageous and a core politician. No cabal can come around him. Infact he's the cabal himself.

Trust me, you, me and the rest of Nigerians have nothing to gain from the fuel subsidy removal.
Some people might be making money through subsidy, Nigerians are equally benefitting from it, I do.
The ones that was removed from kerosine and diesel, what was the gain for ordinary Nigerians?

So, Mr explanator, what made NNPC fix new hiked prices if we may ask? Was it not because subsidy is gone?

casualobserver:

it was provided for by law but the money doesnt exist. people probably do not understand that it isnt like there is some money somewhere and we decided to spend it on subsidy. All the money we have been spending on subsidy was borrowed. it got to a point where there was no where to borrow and we were paying for the subsidy using an illegal means called ways and means and borrowing from NNPC.

When people talk about Buhari incuring huge debts....now you know where the debts came from...we were borrowing to fund subsidy for 8 years at almost $10b a year. Now there is nowhere to borrow money from. Even the govt owes NNPC money.

if NLC like let them cripple the country, when they are tired and realise there is no money and people start getting tired of being at home they will open the country. I would rather suffer strikes for 6 months than spend I more Naira on subsidy. I just read an article that Buhari has 16trillion Naira worth of uncompleted projects. That is the amount we spent on subsidy for 2 years that has gone up in the smoke of exhaust pipes with nothing to show. money that could have been used to complete road, rail, power projects, we have burnt in smoke and some eediot NLC is talking about subsidy. ko ni da fun NLC!!

https://punchng.com/tinubu-inherits-over-n16tn-uncompleted-projects/
So they should remove subsidy without palliative to cushion the effect of inflation on food,transportation and other basics for most Nigerians that are already struggling.
