If only the money gotten from subsidy removal will be used judiciously and not stolen, people will endure

Or if we are all bearing the brunt squarely and some people are not benefitting from the scarcity unduly.

Then the NLC should start petrol business and start selling at N165. It's as simple as that.
No going back on subsidy removal.

What were they waiting for when it was passed into law in January and when the bill was sponsored in September 2022 undecided it's too late for NLC to react

Don't be surprise that the same subsidy they are about to remove now will still be removed again few years to come. PMB removed subsidy in 2016, as a result of that fuel was sold @145#/litre from #97 that it was before.

Disaster looming...

About 300% price hike...

Where are the palliatives to cushion against inflation, astronomical price hike of consumer goods, a short-term plan to get one of the refineries to have some throughput to complement Dangote refineries coming on stream?

The future is not looking promising...

NLC should go take several seats.

Criminal oil moguls and Lazy Party can't dictate to us through NLC.

NLC stopped Yaradua from selling PH refinery to Otedola/Dangote consortium back in the day. The NLC leadership benefits massively from the subsidy.

Buhari plunged the nation into humongous debt. The money accrued from subsidy removal would at best be used to service those, that is if it is not stolen first. No benefit for Nigerians.

But subsidy has not been removed. You all need to brace up for more. Subsidy will go in June, based on the budget. Thereafter we should see what prices should be like, based on market forces.

It seems you need to visit the filling stations at your location.

If the subsidy doesn't go, the pressure on the Naira will be too strong. Don't be surprised if the Naira keeps dropping until it hits 1,200 to a dollar.

The NLC are empty individuals. Government didn't fix petrol prices, NNPC did for their filling stations.

By virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act, NNPC is a private company and no longer a government corporation. The price fixed by the NNPC are independent.

Filling stations that are not under the NNPC franchise can sell at whatever price they want.

Let's face it, the NLC wanted their party to win. The leadership of the trade union endorsed the Labour Party during this year's general elections.

It is painful when groups try to stall genuine and pertinent economic plans because they're not in power. It is counterproductive to play politics when its time for governance. Tinubu himself and the most members of the APC countered Jonathan when he started the process of removing fuel subsidy many years ago.

However, the NLC and sister organisation the Labour Party will fail to stop the removal of fuel subsidy and will fail to win elections in 2027 😂
....

Can u hear yourself speak?? ....

Are you not smart to know that all was politics? Did APC use NLC?Do you expect the opposition parties to support all government policies? NLC should not allow the loser party -LP to use them to fight the government. Let LP do the criticism themselves. That's the beauty of democracy instead of using NLC which may backfire.
How old are you? Your comment shows how shallow your reasoning is.. Defending Apc doesn’t mean you should be stupid,or what do you think?

Rubbish!
They should go sit their a rses down somewhere.
The fuel price increase is unjustifiable,ill-timed and insensitive, but any adult in Nigeria who has witnessed the series of fuel price increases and the attendant strike by the NLC right from the days of Oshiomhole, will know the strike has never achieved anything other than postponing the evil day.
Why?Everytime the NLC strikes forcing goverment to reduce the pump price, transport cost, cost of goods and services that were increased due to the original price increase, never go down to the status quo before the increase. So at the end the strike action and slight reduction in the increase don't achieve nothing.
Another reason why the strike is uncalled for is that with this astronomical increase, innovative ideas on how to manage fuel bought for vehicular and other uses will quickly crop up.
Alternative means of transport and ways of working, for eg,walking at home, online delivery of goods and services, will also crop up.
Even in the long run, maybe 6months or so,the pump price will also reduce to some extent, maybe 400.Though still high, but the number of fuel stations that will see a drastic reduction in fuel being bought, will also force marketers to find ways to attract customers and no one loves anything better than getting a service or product cheaper elsewhere.
Tinubu has done his worse,as expected of a senile, overly excited man,but let's show the well choreographed, never dying spirit of the Nigerian.
Anyone that isn't a thief, politician or criminal into kidnapping, rituals or Yahoo that survived 8 years of Buhari,I believe can survive whatever ill-conceived ideas Tinubu has.
NLC strike is uncalled for, unjustified and will only set back innovation, ideas and inventiveness the subsidy withdrawal will bring.
Someone is already seeking fuel economy ideas.
For eg,if u are used to running your gen throughout the night, you would need to reduce that.At work places, instead of using AC throughout office hours, fans may need to be used, same with AC running constantly in cars.

You smoke

Branch of labour party that wants APC government to fail.smh

You mean the same way Apc, Tinubu and Buhari wanted Jonathan to fail years ago?!!

Well, subsidy should go for good... However, Tinubu's government must be ready to seriously suffer the consequences with the masses!

How?!! Simple...

1. Government expenditure must be openly and massively cut drown from Aso Rock down to the Ministries and Legislative arm.

2. No foreign trips especially for medical tourism. Starting from the President and his household.

3. No awarding of dubious contracts to people loyal to APC.

You can't demand that the citizens bear with you and suffer while you all live like kings untouched by the same afflictions.

Nigeria saw sege in the first Buhari’s tenure and Nigerians re-elected him. By virtue of good reasoning, Tinubu not worthy to win a single polling unit but you see the irony, he’s your current president. The way Nigerians adjust to suffering and celebrate their oppressors need to be studied.
