Northern Senators are 57

Southern Senators are 51

FCT Senator is 1

Northern senators are not 60 as said above.

Some NC senators will differ with their Northern counterparts making more votes to the Southern senators.

U guys take things too serious in Naija..
Do U seriously think Tinubu want to start a war...
Thats the way a President thinks...and act..
Send it to the NA and let the people representatives reject the request...
D whole world knows Tinubu has done the needful...
Its the N Assembly that bounced the request...
Shikena!

That's the game plan all along, but obidots as usual are blowing the issue out of proportion.

grin what do you expect before, Niger Republic and Northern Nigeria are like brothers. Should Nigeria divide today, Northern Nigeria especially core Northerners like Sokoto, zamfara, Bornu, etc are very likely to unite with Niger.

I stand with the Northern senators. We should not be dragged into a proxy war on behalf of the west.

If the civilian leaders of Niger were alive to their responsibilities, and not serving ass lapdogs to the France and the West, there likely would be no coup.

Just like IPOB occupation in the SE, If the citizens of Niger are not protesting against the coup then what is our own business to interfere?

Re: Northern Nigeria Senators Caucus Reject Military Intervention In Niger by Nobody: 10:01am On Aug 05, 2023
Everyone may not agree with me, but if I was the president, I would go to war.

My reason: No developed nation will ever allow the military to rule. A nation is built by technocrats. As late Chief Gani Fawehinmi said, the worst democratic government is better than the best military.

Nigeria was damaged by the soldiers that killed Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello. That was the coup that destroyed Nigeria. And just imagine General Gowon became our leader at under 30. What exactly did he know at that time? Just imagine having military boys as governors again. What exactly do they understand about economics, foreign policy, government, negotiations, and forex? For Christ's sake, a boy of 25 or 35 years suddenly starts managing a whole state in Nigeria. What exactly does such a boy know?

If the military takes over Russia, there will be war. They won't accept. It was the reason that man went back from attacking Moscow. No military can take over any developed nation. Yet, Russia is encouraging Africa and supplying weapons. Russia is evil.

Many of you don't know what you are wishing for.

And if Bola Tinubu does not go for this war, he knows he will be overthrown soon. Yes, the military will overthrow him too, and they know nothing will happen. Therefore, Bola Tinbu must go to this war. I am in support 100%. If this happens in Canada, the US will send its army there. Trust me. And let it happen in any EU, NATO will move in. Therefore, Nigeria must go. After Niger, we will go and rescue Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, and the rest from the hands of military boys. Military boys must get ut to their skulls that they are meant to stay in their barracks. There is no room for them in the economics of nations. Anyone of the military boys who thinks he can use a gun to hijack power must die by that gun. Yes...it is called treason. Let us not support nonsense.

Buhari messed up. He should have sent our army to stop the very first coup in Mali or so.

Trust me, this war will be better than the military taking over Nigeria again. And I do not even see it generating a big war. Nigeria will finish all these countries in a short period. Yes, our military is good. And if it turns to Ukraine Vs Russia...so be it. We must just show these military boys to back off finally.

Another reason is that we will go to Niger and Chad and stop Boko Haram. They come from the two nations. This is our opportunity to stop terrorism for once. We use this excuse to move into those countries and stop Boko Haram. We will stop those supplying them with weapons too. This is the only way.

Bola Tinubu must go to that war to stop Muslim fanatics and tribalism. Those telling Gim to not go do not understand anything. This is the chance we have to stop the religious war in Naija. And thank God he is a Muslim....so, he should face them. Destroy them there. And put the Naija army in the nations to stop them. We must protect Nigeria.

Exactly. This is a proxy war between Russia and the West. Your leaders are compromised. They do not have the backbone because their assets are in the West. Nigerian people will need to stand against this crap. It is us that will suffer if this war goes ahead. Our children will be carried to fight another man's war in which our army has no conviction to defeat the other side.

If these democracy is worried about military coups in their country, they better situp. We had PDP 16 years, APC 8, another 4 is just around corner. That will be 28 years, yet we cannot have a simple stable electricity. And one wonders why they are worried of a military take over.

We are also aware of the situation of Mali, Burkina Faso and Libya, which may affect the seven Northern states, if military force is used. There is serious implication for our country, if military force is used without exhausting all the diplomatic channels.

That is why the diplomatic option is still active. Once diplomacy fails, the coupists will be forced out and legitimate power returned. The Sultan of Sokoto and Gen Abdulsalami will advice the government. Diplomacy for the coupists to entrench themselves in power will not be allowed. Nigeria is not fighting war with Niger so the Senators are in order if it's a war.
But you and your fellow agbadorians called other people who made similar suggestions ipob!!!!

No need for "northern senators" issuing ex- cathedral statements.

Going to fight our own brothers because of this is stupidity.

Tinubu is a man that is so desperate for power. He is willing to do anything to hold on to power even if it means an unnecessary war.

Nigeria today is under the seige of a political coup. A coup against the constitution of a country is worse than a military coup. Democracy is dead in our nation.

Tinubu knows he does not have a chance with the cases in court. He is willing to do anything that will in anyway aid his political coup in Nigeria.

Tinubu does not have the moral right to engage Niger. He is more of a risk to democracy in africa.
The africa union should engage democratic leaders like Goodluck Jonathan, ruto of kenya, zambia president or any african leader who has a good personal record of democracy .
Pmb would have been one to lead such delegation to our brothers in niger unfortunately he is one of major players of the coup we presently have in Nigeria and so has no moral strength to engage the coup plotters in niger.

Nigeria had the greatest opportunity to become the role model of democracy for fellow africa nations in our presidential elections but the evil and miscreants politicians and corrupt INEC officials destroyed it.
Lets hope the judiciary will restore the dignity of our nation.
