That information and picture is patently false.

Symptomatic of how many things in the nation's history remain false, twisted and deliberately manipulated to serve narrow interests.

This is why the so called amalgamation has failed to yield tangible success one hundred and nine years after.

After more than a century, the country cannot refine it's own energy resources and imports tooth pick fish, pampers etc. Because we live in outright false hood and denial.

The amalgamation deed was signed at present day Ikot Abasi, somewhere in Akwa Ibom State.

You may want to find the pictures of the place,if necessary.

Below is the picture of where the error was enacted.

FAKE NEWS, HOW CAN YOU ALL BE SO IGNORANT. AMALGAMATION HOUSE IS AT MY TOWN, IKOT ABASI L.G.A OF AKWA IBOM. The amalgamation house, Lord lugards home still there as it were since 1914

This thread and the responses has proven that 90% of nairaland members are very ignorant. Even a primary schl child knows that the amalgamation of Nigeria took place in Ikot Abasi.

The usual excuse by people who are not profiting from the opportunities the almagamation have been providing since 1912 to those who are smart. Too many benefits, Nigeria is a great blessing but only those with positive mindset understand this based on their fulfilling experience as a Nigerian that have traveled wide and far.

I think Amalgamation only makes sense when it comes to creating a common "market" platform to enable the different ethnic nationalities trade freely--something like the European Common Market. HOWEVER...the forcefully choking political entanglement has negated that one positive point to the negative. The overwhelming quantum of corruption, brazen evil and sheer terrorism that has cost and is costing hundreds of thousands of lives each year testifies to the fact that people no longer respect themselves when they find themselves in a new locality or "ethnic nation". Everyone seems to want something for nothing and using politics and corrupt military practices is seen as the "only" way out.

Instead of having the different ethnic nations keying into their competitive advantages and building and developing themselves in terms of what they can produce to the world out of merit....what we see is essentially national and state POLITICS being the only way any ethnic validate themselves to themselves....even though before the world, Nigeria is next nothing without the hydrocarbons.

Ok...just wanted to rant.

The bolded has been so since independence and even before it. Very healthy competition amongs various regions. Those crying today are they set of people who truncated such positive development out of greed. And still yet, to their present generation are still very unwise like their fathers.

The dilapidated and sorry state of the edifice is disheartening and disgraceful. It is a shame to the FG.

That edifice should be a national monument for tourism that will be generating money.

One of the problems of the black race is our failure to preserve monuments, instead, we resort to blaming colonial masters for our failures.
If you go to Virginia you can still see the house America's first president George Washington lived in still well preserved as a national monument.

Laughable agbado man. Why is that building in shambles if you and your APC really values the almagamation? You are all just vultures.

Looking at the building in itself is clear proof of the state of the nation the bastard Amalgamated.

Where on earth does one force birds of strange fellows to be together if not Nigeria?
