It does make a lot of sense. There is practically only one road between Lagos and Benin, so even people going to the East or South South can end up spending hours on the road if there is traffic at Ore.

I still do not understand why anyone believes that things cannot run concurrently.

Pls wake up Baba, do you even know the ECONOMIC POTENTIAL of a coastal road? Pls dont even discuss this topic with illiterate Obirodents. Its not only about reduction in travel time, The tourism potential is out of this world. Its impact wil be far greater than the LFTZ. TINUBU is a genius.

Because of this statement, I will double my support for the coastal road.

There are alternatives to get you to the mainland or island. Perhaps, you have never been to Lagos.

There is Carter bridge and Eko bridge, and 4th mainland bridge is even in planning.

Honestly, I dont think anybody that has sense should discuss with obidients, their thinking faculty is EXTREMELY LOW just like that of Obi. Imagine how the third mainland bridge has helped to develop the Island Areas of Ikoyi, Lekki, VI and Ajah. How businesse can not run better and FASTER. I remember when i was into fixing of security camera and we'll have to drive to Adeniji like TWICE DAILY to get materials. I wonder how it would have been if we had ONLY carter bridge and Eko bridge. Obi na serious embarrassment.

I sincerely see Tinubu surpassing Obasanjo in terms of achievement. Imagine if Tinubu was given the opportunity to start generating electricity way back in 1999 when he wanted to start. All these darkness would have been a thing if the past because many state Governors would have followed suit since then, and we would have been better in electricity generation by now. Tinubu started it way back in 1999, 25 years ago but OBASANJO stopped it.

THE ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF 3RD MAINLAND ARE THE NUMBER OF COMMUNITIES, FACILITIES AND PROJECTS THAT DEVELOPED AROUND IT WHICH INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO MARKETS (BOTH ON ISLAND AND MAINLAND), HOTELS, HOSPITALS (OR OTHER MEDICAL FACILITIES), BANKS (AND OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS), SCHOOLS (ESPECIALLY PRIVATE ONES) MALLS AND MARTS, SHOPS, OFFICES AND EMERGING TOWNS.

THE 4TH MAINLAND BRIDGE WOULD OPEN UP THE IKORODU AXIS TOO TO FURTHER DEVELOPMENT AND EXPAND THE GROWTH OF IBEJU LEKKI IN PARTICULAR AS ALL INSTITUTIONS, FACILITIES (I MENTIONED) AS WELL AS NEW MINI CITY WOULD DEVELOP.

THIS COASTAL ROAD WOULD BRING ABOUT NEW COASTAL ATTRACTIONS AND BUSINESSES TOO, INCLUDING OFFICES, MALLS, HOTELS, SHOPPING COMPLEXES, CINEMAS, NEW BEACHES AND BEFITTING HOUSING ESTATES. DON'T BE A VISIONLESS ASPIRANT LIKE PETER OBI, LAGOS STATE IS HARD TO BEAT TODAY BECAUSE THE ADMINS ARE FUTURISTIC
Point is without 3rd mainland bridge these places won't develop?

You can get to these places without 3rd mainland bridge

3rd mainland bridge is a feel good projects meant for comfort

But does it have economic benefits... No

This sounds like a child with a phone, there's basically billions of naira of agricultural produce that is being destroyed and wasted because of lack of favourable means of transportation.

During the orange season, if you go to some villages you will weep for the farmers, trucks and trucks loads of oranges perish by the road because they can't find cheap and affordable means of transportation.

Road/rails, is one of the most important things that differentiate a developing country from a developed country.

There are no billions of agro produce that are destroyed because of lack of road stop lying

Nothing destroy agro goods more than lack of economic power of the people to buy at a price fair to me farmer

Lack of funds for the farmer to invest in the processing of their products

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, took to his verified Twitter handle to lampoon the Federal Government for continuing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

If previous administrations in Lagos were only looking at the present with no grand vision, Landmark will not even have a place to erect his investments in the first place. The Lagos great seawall made it possible. The coastal road is a boulevard like no other within Lagos, and your wailing cannot stop it. I understand that you are a minimalist that thrives on doing the barest minimum with poor quality as your watchword, so, I'm not totally surprised that the scope of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road is shocking to you.

It's even amusing that you're complaining that the project is progressing at a fast pace and yet insinuating that the project will take 30 years to be completed or likely to be abandoned. Do you even listen to what you say sometimes?

My advice to you is just to sit back, relax and watch as Engr. Dave Umahi delivers what you think is impossible. Action is better than cho cho cho.

I also think you are threatened by the rising profile and undeniable competence of Minister of Works, Dave Umahi and the reality that he will one day become the first president of Nigeria from the South East in the 4th Republic while you take your place as one of most dangerously deceitful and bitter politician to have ever graced Nigeria's political landscape

In his tweets, he rued the economic and job losses, asking the government to focus on maintaining existing highways instead of engaging in non-essential projects.
Brutally honest summations.
Perception is STRONGER than reality.

PDP gave 500 billion to banks that was over 3 billion dollars

PDP gave Nollywood over 50 billion that was over $500 million dollars

Bank of industry was dishing out billions to companies

APC is given 75 million dollars loan facility to SMEs but want to build road for 800 billion

Can't you see where the problem is?

The issue is not the road yge issue we have better use for that money right now

Two it makes zero sense to build feel good projects with borrowed funds

All the money that PDP gave to the affore mentioned, WHERE IS THE RESULT? Am now beginning to see why its only UNREASONABLE PEOPLE that suports Obi. YOU CANT SEE SERIOUS POLITICIANS in Obi's camp. If the right INFRASTRUCTURE and BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT is in place, people will get money anywhere and do their business. Did government give Dangote money to build refinery? NO. Businesses and companies are springing up in Lagos because of the government's investment in Infrastructure.

The Govt or professional valuers have not come to debunk the value of the investment na person wey still dey chop "mummy thank you" like you na wan dey counter the value of an investment. An investment that paid over 2billion naira in taxes last year is not worth at least 200m dollars?. 🤭

Someone once said, " you can't support the APC/govt & not sound stupid". There must be something in the waters they share in that your small APC group meetings.

Very funny coming from a zero IQ, shallow brain jelly fish.
Just because he claims that his investment is worth 200 and the govt has not denied that, doesn't mean they agree with it.
I can claim that my house is worth a billion, it will only be contested and investigated should I need to get compensation from an insurance company, the govt or if I try to sell. That's when a property evaluator will be employed to ascertain my claims.
The Nigerian educational system has unfortunately produced some of the dumbest animals on the face of planet such as you. So shallow, unable to apply simply logic and common sense. Do you really need someone to explain that to you? I bet my 6 year old is smarter than olodo like you.
Do you really expect the govt or anyone to dispute his claim? For what reason? That will only come into play should there be a need for compensation, but there's is none because he does not own the beach.

BTW, without the beach, his investment is even worth less than 20 Million because the main attraction for his business is the beach which he does not own. Get that simple primary school logic into your empty mkpuru mirri destroyed skull.

STFU and get lost.

You don’t think with more time and less stress others can do more and earn much more?(!) This is so elementary even a Danfo or Molue driver knows the economic benefits of The Third Mainland Bridge!

So many people are just hearing about the coastal highway. They do not know what it means talk less of it's route.. They don't know how to weigh the quantum of losses vis a vis the grains. A road that had been conceived by so many governments in Nigeria as very important, but the courage to start construction of the road is elusive.
People always shows their ignorance through their comments just because they have penchant for criticism.
The real cause of abandoned projects is that the contractor that starts the project would have gave the President/Governor and his Ministers/Commissioners huge bribe plus/including the initial over invoicing. So any successive governments will have to abandon the project if the costs of completion will raise eyebrows and emotions . He knows he will meet brick walls if he tried probing past government over the project.
Hardly you will see a new government trying to complete abandoned projects with the initial contractors ( TO AVOID BACKLASH)

Stop lying.

I have lived in that area before anything like a Landmark ever became popular. There were many beach businesses in that area before the Landmark. When I was young, it was Bar Beach, and then later came Lekki Beach.
The value of that project is much more than any value of any current beach business. Most of you calling 200 Million dollars like we are talking about 200 Million Naira. I just laugh every time I hear that trash. The only thing that can make that place worth 200 Million dollars is the beach itself which he does not own. Did he buy the beach from anyone? NO, he did not.
In the future, there will be many beach businesses with international brands of hotels and more.
you know this ipob people like calling big figures from there anus, just like everyone is a billinaire in alaibo, anytime forb release its list they are always missing, then you wonder where exactly are the billionaires this people are talking about, maybe because forbes doesnt rate drug money grin
