With all due respect, I find the writer of this article ignorant, because his question is like asking Why didn't God stop a car accident from happening? the answer is simple: If people are not obeying traffic rules, drink driving, bad roads, faulty vehicle, unqualified driver. etc then God will not comes down to stop car/bus crash since all the rules of safe driving has been violated.

Another question a lot of people also ask is If there is God why are natural disaster like tsunami or the japan flooding that kills hundreds of thousands occur? the answer is simple: Human activities over the centuries  i.e excessive industrialisation is causing sharp climate change around the world, hence we have rising disaster happening around the world, my friend that just came back from Nigeria told me how hot and burning the weather is, why should we be blaming God for all these? there are nuclear disaster happening all over the world killing thousands of people, is it God  that created nuclear reactor for us? No.
Because of greed and power human beings continue to destroy forests, seas and nature in general thereby disturbing the normal flow of the eco-system, we will then be blaming God if disaster strikes, why?

What an interesting debate though! It shows clearly from the article and people's comment that there is a fundamental ignorance of the relationship between God and 'Man'. It is clearly stated in the bible that God created man in His own image and gave man choice and free will, this is to make man responsible for his/her own actions, we have to remember that the earliest men always blame God for everything that happens to them even after God has warned them, that is why God gave man laws, rules and principles to follow and guide them, he also told them the consequences of not following these principles.

Back to the boko haram issue, Jesus Christ told his disciples and followers that as they (the world) persecute Him so also they will persecute them (his followers) for their believe, so there is nothing new in what happened, a pastor was hanged in Iran about 3months ago for refusing to denounce  his faith. The problem in Nigeria is that for a long time our pastor only teaches about the gospel of prosperity and materialism. even thousands of people were killed during the roman empire for been christians, that is why Jesus Christ always tells His followers to make sure they are really ready before they follow him.
REAL christians in nigeria must stand up and confront all the vices in the country, boko haram, corruption, kidnapping, lack of education etc, enough of hiding in churches and crusades just praying for our personal issues, hence our pastors should throw away the messages of materialism and teach people how to be better citizens to be able to tackle our problems not just with prayer but with action, just like pastor Tunde Bakare who took to the street to protest and fight for what he believes in. James said 'faith without work is dead'

BELIEVING IN GOD IS A PERSONAL ISSUE, EVERYBODY HAS A RIGHT TO BELIEVE OR NOT TO BELIEVE, PERSONALLY I BELIEVE THERE IS GOD.

What do u mean that God didn't create the World a nice place?  The Christian bible says God created the World and was so pleased with everything! That's a lie in the first place  , he wouldn't have create that tree Adam and Eve eat from . At least u should have done everything perfect in the first place . this has point something out that his not even a perfect GOD!

he create us to test us or what. . .? i believe that's not the main reason . the truth is , only the potter knows how to mood the clay and turn it into any type of shape i mean . God would have choose to test us when he already known us from the beginning as the founder/ creator as claimed written inside the Christian law books.

IbroSaunks:

bro, God didnt create the world to be all nice and cosy, with cream, and caviar! God created a temporary testing ground, filled with trials. God will test our faith. If the world was all warm and cosy, then we won't need or turn to God, or remember him as we should.

Am not surprised at this post.By grace are we saved, no one can come to God except He draws them nigh. God's existence is evident in everything around us. God's ways are not our ways, hence, no one can understand except by the revelation of the Almighty Himself. God is spirit and he that worship him must do so in spirit and in truth. Until the spirit of God is awake, it may be difficult to understand.

God is not slow in keeping His promises as some understand slowness, He is patient with everyone, He doesn't want any to perish but all should come to repentance; and God's patience means repentance, 2 Peter 3:9,15a

his followers would die, because every soul would taste death, that is His decree. It is God that owns our lives, when it is our time, we will return to Him. In my religion, God promised that there would be trying times. It is in times like this that we seek his refuge. It is part of worship.

Yeah i know definitely God's followers including him would die. . . dead is human being and beast rightful due . You can say God own your life but my life doesn't belongs to him . My life belongs to the one and true creator of the Universe ( Satan ) - see your speech saying that God have to test before he knows his own? he should have known it is because of his so called testings and traps he sets that many confusion is in the World Today why can't he just be straight instead of been a gayy? grin grin

It's official, all these athiests are delusional. You come here ranting and raving like mad dogs, telling people there's no God because He didn't stop the Christmas attacks from happening, like this is the first time people are dying in the world. What about the Crusades, World War 1 and 2, the numerous earthquakes, floods, sicknesses, starvation, accidents, plane crashes that have taken billions of lives in time and presently? Why didn't you open your wide, filthy mouths to bark about all that? If you don't believe in God, shut your pieholes and stick to your opinions, don't come on here and try to shove it down people's throats! African "Bush" mentality, just because the West is spreading atheism like a virus you all ran like whimpering puppies to lap it all up. Mtchewww. I am sorry for all of you.
Re: Christmas Bombings: God Is Powerless! by 9jafreak: 8:58pm On Dec 30, 2011
1. Once again, 'PEOPLE' who subscribe to atheism make a fool of themselves by asserting a CERTAINTY that cannot be proven. Like, yeah, we came from nothingness.

2. Who told you God is a fit of emotions like you lot? Do you consider the family of the rat or cockroach, or the animals you eat daily before massacring them without mercy? And yet you have no right whatsoever to take the life of a SENTIENT BEING especially since you create none.

3. If God is sovereign, and He has to be, you have NO RIGHT, I repeat NADA, to question His Wisdom or Foolishness as your own limited reason may interpret it.

4. In the Futuristic Society, if we make it, Imagine if your high artificial intelligent robot sues you for negligence, or his friends for his death which you did not prevent? Wouldn't that be funny? But with God, at least the SPIRIT LIVES. It's all that TRULY MATTERS TO HIM ACCORDING TO THE BOOK at least.

Who the hell needs an exoneration. . . huh God is a belief, one that does not believe need no excuse other than there's no emperical evidence, godism is part of mysticism, primitive mind, mythological stories taken too seriously. Faith is only the acceptance of other peoples assertions without any evidence^^  grin

People who speak about god are not only bad, they have stagnated human kind for thousands of years, they have begun wars because of their incosistencies of different denominations. Who has suffered from the beliefs of these idiots, are the innocent people who are just trying to live peacefully. cheesy cheesy wink

I take my breath deeply and lift my head up with hurried conclusion,

Nigeria Is Going Down
Nigeria would be brought down completely.
Let the Righteous stay firmly on their God and ask for mercy and protection from the catastrophe that would befall Nigeria in Days.
Nigeria i see now, Nigeria i would see no more.

With shy patience, i have read this post and studied hitherto the comments and now i see clearly the message on the wall, Nigeria is in its last days.

The Rebellion, Hate, Wickedness, Pain, Affliction and Sin that besieged Jericho has plagued Nigeria and surely, with this post as one of my numerous proofs, Nigeria is going to be destroyed.

I beg and advice the Righteous to prepare for the "dark cloud" coming, pray without season and make sensitive plans. May God Guide us, Protect us and have mercy.

The truth in its most simplified form is ,  The End Time Has Started

Really?! And what does your god do while the devil is supposedly tormenting mankind?! He/She sits down with folded hands, in complete indifference at the plight of people who are supposedly his creation!

God evidently does NOT exist anywhere, but assuming I am proven to be wrong and it is found that a god does exist, that god is definitely the most evil and sadistic deity in all of human history.

Yes, you can! You can do so by providing evidence to back up your assertion that a god exist somewhere. The absence of evidence is the evidence of absence. grin grin

Leave the devil out of this!!  angry . First of all, if you wish to talk about God, you need to be in the clear what God you are talking about.

Are you talking about some arbitrary philosophical construct, a God of logical inference. . . huh

Or are you talking about Jehovah, Allah, Zeus, Krishna or whomever. . . huh

Once you are in the clear about that, then you should proceed. Otherwise, you are just stirring theoretical bullshit with no actual support. grin grin wink

You've said it all. I really feel sorry for Nigeria, and the world at large. It's even more pathetic that an African would open his mouth to say all these horrible things about the Creator of the Universe. An African, who has been treated unfairly, trampled upon, sold to slavery, beaten, killed, maimed and still belitted by the Western world, the same West that started up Christianity, that brought it to our lands, they are the same people now telling us there is no God, and some foolish Africans are keen to believe them! Why won't they say all that when they have done all they can do with their intelligence? They have invented all they can, they have developed their societies, they have reached the peak of science and technology and realized there's nothing more to do. The next best thing to do? Attack God. Hammer it into people's heads that we all came from monkeys, which ironically, comes from Africa.
And some are falling for the trick.
To you all, bravo. The same God you so despise, is the only One that can save you. Run to Him before it's too late.

You can blame God all you want but at the end of the day WE HUMAN BEINGS are responsible for our actions or "lack there of"  tongue.

Any believer of God who belongs to a specific religion (esp. Christianity) knows that God is a God of blessings and can "giveth and taketh away". There is a reason for this!!

The Nigerian gov.'t has blood on its hand yet nobody cares so long as it doesn't affect them directly. What do we humans do when we ignore signs and get our "beating/karma"? We blame God, who owes us NOTHING, not even a reflection of his/her face to prove they exist. This is God's way of showing the lackadaisical attitude of the Nigerian gov't. This "Giant of Africa" mentality has caused a lot of Nigerians to walk around 'big headed'. This culture of "better them than us" has blinded the people and the gov't and people die as a result. Instead of learning from each others conflicts, problems or mistakes, I don't know why we black folks feel like we are better off than the next. It befuddles me how the same God who has walked with us during our worst, and blessed us at our best we turn around and blame when he/she shows us signs. smh. And then we want "blessings" when we only refer to and pray to him/her when it's convenient. What ever happened to love thy neighbor? This Igbo vs. Yoruba vs. Hausa; etc rather than focus on the betterment of the people. . .just sad.

But who am I to say this? I'm just a Jamo.
Re: Christmas Bombings: God Is Powerless! by Orikinla(m): 9:39pm On Dec 30, 2011
All the long complaint to query God is based on ignorance.

People want to blame their human failures and tragedies on God, because they are confused.

In your  own case, you want God to take the blame for the foolishness of Nigerian Igbos who are more of church goers than Christians.

Months ago, I warned that Igbos should start leaving the north, but now many of them are suffering and dying, because of their disobedience to common sense and intelligence.

Jesus Christ said if you go to a place and they don't welcome, dust your feet and leave. But if you refuse to leave and you endanger your life, why blame God?
Moreover, the way we see human tragedy is totally different from how God sees it.

God is still God no matter what you think. Grow up!
Re: Christmas Bombings: God Is Powerless! by Nobody: 9:42pm On Dec 30, 2011
There is no entity called GOD; rather GOD is a congregation of spirits. Creation of man was their most successful experiment and of no consequence to them. Imagine man watching ants move and die as they wish. Basically what Christians call God, does not exist.

First, you don’t have to term the post silly. All you have to do is justify the existence of your God.
May be you should read the article again and look at these take home points:
1. The so called men of God know that God is not powerful and that’s why they go about with bodyguards to protect them.
2. Why for instance would a man of God buy a bullet proof car? What does it suggest to a rational mind?
3. Why is Ayo Oristejafor calling for religion’s war without being at the fore front of leading it?
4. Why can’t he simply allow God to defend his people?
5. Then, is he making the case for war realising God cannot protect his own and why has God been rendered powerless all of a sudden?
Now, I put it to you that God, whichever way it has been defined, does not exist. YOU have created what you called God! You may want to enlighten me as to why you believe God exist. Just supply the proof!

Contributors to this forum should not blaspheme! God exists and is alive! Goliath dared this God just like Boko Haram and an army of unbelievers are daring God to protect Christians from their bombs today. What happened? God raised a David to destroy Goliath just the way God will raise a David of our time to checkmate Boko Haram. I commiserate with victims of the bomb attacks and I dare say it could be anybody. Afterall, people have been dying of different causes including road accidents, flood, sicknesses, food poison, armed robbery and the likes. Are we saying there was no God to prevent the deaths, even when Christians were affected? Many occurences confirm the existence of God, or who can tell the shape and the colour of the air we breath? The air is freely given by God! That is why every living thing lives today!
