Please I wish to find out how you all can help me tell Siony .J. Andrew (Name on Facebook) to return the money I gave to him to design and develop a website. I gave him part payment domain name and hosting services. Can you imagine all the websites he is claiming to have designed are all suspended. I met him here on Nairaland. And went to his Facebook page to see his work. Went and saw for myself. So I didn't think there was any reason to be afraid. I paid him for his work. Only for him to pay for my website domain for only one month. Now the website is suspended. Please give me back my money or domain name and password to meet another website developer he has refused. Only for me to check all the websites. He claimed to develop. All of them are suspended. Dear Nairalnders. Is it wrong to help each other here?? I will publish his bank account information, proof of payment, phone number. Here . I plan to mess him up bigtime. Thanks For reading

Proper due Dilligence is needed at all times. You could have checked those websites he claimed to have designed and if possible contact the owners to get their opinion before commiting your money.

I know am already sounding like a broken record but so many of them that advertise incredibly low fees here are a disaster waiting to happen. I always wonder how they hope to keep afloat with those fees they charge. Inevitably, they would have to cut corners at some point. If someone charges 10k to design a website, register a domain and host it for a year, I would stay away if I was the client(Not saying yours was the case, just digressing a bit).

Back to the particular issue, that name is not very recognizable in this forum, could you post a direct link to his profile?

IF you were scammed, then you got all what you deserved for being a fool (excuse my French). tell me, if i put house drawings on my FB page, does that automatically make me an Architect? shouldnt you have contacted OWNERS OF WEBSITES HE HAD SUPPOSEDLY CREATED, before parting with your cash?

you would think that Nigerians are smart, but everyday we see instances that makes us believe that not all of us are.

You think every client know how to investigate properly, how many of them can check the whois of a site?

Is unfortunate that those selling cheap services have nothing to offer and they are the one causing problem here and there.

Haba Mr Brown. Take it easy with the insult. I believe we are all educated here. I saw a list of websites he developed. And also spoke with one client of his. Right now that one is making plans to have him locked up. At the previous commenter, if it's 10k won't I be happy. I gave him a part payment of N25,000 for domain name registration and cloud server hosting. I was supposed to send him a balance later for design. I insisted on him sending me a proposal, thats why i said i have proof of that and the payment slip in Ecobank. Before this happend. Right now I need my domain name and password to move ahead. The fool has refused to pick up his calls. Name: Dominic John Andrew Deposit Slip Number: 648486 , Account Number: 0018473198 . Amount: 0018473198 . This is his phone number 08123325252 Andrew . I heard he is a father of 2 and lives in Ajegunle. I honestly wonder how such a person will impact on his children's lives. If I have him locked up. People will say it was only N25,000 he stole from me, that is making me put him away. But no one will realize the pain he has caused me in lost business deals. Please help me beg him now to refund my money and give me back my domain name and password. Because I will pick him up and take him away from his kids. I will be going on Facebook, Linda ikeji, etc to blast him full time. He will never get work in this industry again.

Aha ! The website he listed in his profile : www.sionytelecoms.com , is down.

And nigeriaelites.com is down as well. But further checking, it shows that the nameservers for those sites are smartwebng's nameservers.

We have seen so many complaints about smartweb here in this forum so are we sure its not an issue with the host he is using? SmartWebng?

Not a problem with the host. The domain has been removed from their servers. I have reached this conclusion because the domain is dead but the nameservers are alive.

So it may well be he is owing his hosts or has some other issues ??

Well to be fair, there was a thread setup specifically for new clients coming on the Webmaster Board to avoid these kind of pitfalls

bro, i meant no disrespect when i said you were foolish in your actions. it is the same as saying you were not so smart.
how could you evaluate this person, if the other client you talked to is also having problems? shouldnt you have waited that this other client confirm that the job is done, before going ahead with paying this guy?

if you are not yet ready to accept that YOU made a mistake, then fair enough. accept my apologies!

how difficult is it to go to a web page, locate the person/company's phone or email, contact them and ask who did the job and was the job done FULLY and PROPERLY?!

Sorry to hear that you got scammed, hope you get your money back.
I am upset by the calls here not to use the cheaper vendors. Please why are we always so retrogresive. Many a times I have tried to get something done on a website and only twice have the Nigerians even answered me talk less of doing it. I simply moved on to freelancer and elance and have had everything I want done very well and for less than 10 % of what the Nigerians wanted. If some commercial sense is coming into the market, I say well done, please don't discourage people from patronising them.

Thanks for getting his link. He is the same person that has both links. At least for future purposes. The rest of us here on nairaland should be aware. All his websites are down right now and suspended meaning he hasn't been paying his hosting fees. Tell me how much is domain and hosting for one year? I would have paid myself on godaddy.com. But my credit card was rejected. Please tell me how I can make payment. So I will just register another name. I am so angry. It took so many weeks to come up with that name . Or is it possible for me to retrieve it? Thanks guys, for your assistance.

You can use Namecheap to register your domains at namecheap.com . If you are having problems with credit cards, you can get the UBA Visa Africard. It works for me. I use that as well as my GTBank Mastercard. Its also a Naira account so you wont need to be scouting for dollars to buy. Just pay online with the Africard and the current exchange rate will be applied. The personalized one(With your name written on the card) takes one week while the non-personalised is instant activation. For hosting, someone has already suggested an option for you .You could also try Hostgator.

Try as much as possible not to keep your domain and hosting in the same basket (your developer's custody).

Register your domains on one provider and host anywhere. When you want to shift host you still have full control of your domain.

You see what we are saying? You don't appreciate what you have in your country, for the fact that you ddnt watch well and gave ur designs to 3different people on nairaland(I'm very sure they won't have up to 10posts here), they are newbies, no one knows there whereabouts, they only came here to scam....and they scammed you, doesn't mean all Nigerians are bad or all web developers/designers don't knw well. Well, I don't judge anybody here but my point is that, I don't trust any of them here because of what they did to me.

The funniest part is that, after building those useless sites for me, no white visitors do visit again due to their bad designs with no experience but I ended up loosing almost 500k from them!

My 2 current sites is now bringing me more incomes with many opportunities from other big investors in US which am very proud of right now, but mind you it was after I hired the white guy who is still working with me till now and my business is not about nigerians anyway.

Thank you.

I actually think you're lying. If you're not tell us the usernames of the designers that did a shady job for you and the site they designed, so that they can defend themselves. Also show us the one that the expatriated designed so that we can compare.

Well, I don't need to be wasting my time bragging about this when I no longer have any business them and also I didn't want anybody to trust or believe my story. beside I didn't come here to make any report of them but I was just telling the guy that got ripped off from nija freelancer to be more careful next time.

Don't answer.

Let's leave the rest to our different interpretations and imaginations.
