Bros with all due respect, the answer to your question is irrelevant to the context.

Jesus Christ while here on earth never invoked any saint to intercede on his behalf. He prayed to God directly. He also taught his disciples to pray in a specific way...directly to God.

It was never recorded anywhere that the early Christians invoked the name of Peter, Paul, Mary or any of the other apostles to intercede on their behalf. Where then did this doctrine originate from? Is the catholic church a custodian of some secret body of knowledge outside that taught by Christ? It is recorded that some of these saints rebuked Christians who tried to direct worship at them while they were alive describing themselves as "mere men." They died and went to their rest. Stop invoking familiar spirits in the name of "Saints"

Honor your saints. But stop asking them to intercede on your behalf to God or to Jesus. They do not currently have that ability. Stop deifying mere men. Stop praying prayers that only make you feel good and holy but are largely ineffectual.

did Jesus speak in tongues?

1. The deceased are deceased,
unlike friends/ pastors here who are alive.
2. The Bible says not to contact the deceased.
3. The Bible does give examples of asking the non-deceased to
pray.
4. The Bible does not even hint that the dead have omniscience or anything close to it.

I am not dismissing Marys importance, but the facts are clear: She was not a part of the Gospel message. There are no references to her leading people to Jesus, answering prayers, etc.

The dead cannot pray for you.

john 2:5 Jesus' mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells."

by saying these words, she pointed people (servants) to Jesus.

No, he didn't.
Jesus didn't say He did everything that was to be done or known. He actually said when the Holy Spirit comes He will teach us all things.

If not for that other 'churches' no one would have bible at home. And as for the apocrypha... a collections of latter discovered books, some full of moral, some full of contraction... Like Daniel and the poor woman and the wicked judges.[color=#006600]

the only rrason you have it in your house is not becos of those churches but becos of the printing press that came into existence much later in life, fact!

Just a thought. Does this "us" mean the apostles?

Pitiable! The so many things we have said, preached, taught and done in the name of God that God wouldn't want anything to do with......

Agreed. The day shall reveal the truth.

he didnt yet that guy believes it must be written to be true. Trinity isnt written anywhere in the bible and TBH, when reading the new testament especially the letters of petre and paul, you wont think the apostles believe in co equality of god and jesus. Yet i believe this guy has no problem with the trinity.

But becos his church has induced this catholicophobia in him, he just thinks things are not true.

For me, i am not really bothered about this arguement as i am not particularly disposed to christianity but i think other churches are very unfair with the image of the catholic church they try to paint.

Tbh, the whole of christianity as well as the whole world owes it to catholicism if only you can try to look at the church's history and their contributions to humanity.

bro, remmd we're nt here to abuse/condemmed any catholics/ protestant church or any christain cos we're all Christain(christ-alyk) just to debate n argue inorder to 'disagree to agree'..Trinity was somehow mentioned by Christ although nt that they are equal, in Matt 28:16-20 wen He told his disciples to 'baptize all nations in name of the Father,Son n Holy Spirit'

I have been following this thread for sometime now, silently. All you so called Christians arguing and insulting each other (including churches and belief) and tomorrow you will tell a Muslim or an Atheist on NL to giv his/her life to Christ and bcom a christian - after painting a picture of a disorganized and confused religion to them. Let's censor our choice of words. This is not a bedroom but NAIRALAND with over 1m viewers!

Bros I asked you a question above which you did not answer!! Are Abraham, isaac and Jacob which Jesus mentioned in the gospel passage I posted dead or alive? When you answer this question then we can progress
they are dead and will soon be ressurected when the time comes. And moses was not praying thru them as u people pray thru mary and the apostles. God of the living means that it is only the living that can call on God, nt the dead.

Do not hide ignorance amidst sarcasm, that's arrogance. A good example of what I mean again. Dogma or Dodgma, we have no such book.

1. Election of Popes is based on rules set by those involved " college of cardinals". The apostles elected someone to replace Judas didn't they?
2. Cannonisation involves declaring that humans have borne witness to a holy life led by an individual and that God has been pleased to affirm that via verifiable miracles connected with them. It involves a process of research into the life of the individual and confirmation of the veracity of the claimed miracles.

Just simply put, Dogma means something, but we are saying, it is not a book like you claimed.

Please stop speaking in Ignorance, I'm happy you know what Wikipedia is...or did you just hear others mention it? Ok for the benefit of doubt follow this simple step.
1. Go to the top of this your browser
2. In the space for search, type Dogma
3. Click search
4. Open any of the links
5. Read
6. Continue 4 and 5 on all other links
7. Do not stop, until you get it into your skull, that Dogma is not a book.

so why can a pastor pray for you ?

Yes! Pastors can pray for you in their life and not in their death. It is appointed unto a man to die once after that Judgement.
