The Catholic bible is different. I mentioned something to a Catholic friend of mine once from the KJV of the Bible. She said it was not in hers. We compared the two. Sure enough the passage was different. Not just worded differently, but saying the same thing. It had a totally different meaning.
Years after its publication The KJV of the Bible was discovered by biblical scholars to contain a lot of errors.(Up to 3000 errors). If you need the original version of the bible go to a catholic bookshop. And from history it was the catholic chuurch that handed out the bible in its original form and if there was any part contradicting her teachin don't you think they would remove it to suit their teaching?

The dead can't pray for you. Only Christ can pray for you. Not only is He the risen Christ, He is also the ONLY mediator between God and man. 1Tim 2v5 -For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man CHRIST JESUS.

God bless.

If we actually find no reason for any other person to pray for us accept Jesus, then why ask for prayers from men of God. Besides Jesus answers prayers, not that he prays for us.

What we have is the original 73 books as canonised by the church in the fourth century.if any person has anything other than that he does not have the bible since the first bible had 73 books and not 66

Stop saying what you know nothing about. The other books that completed ur scripture are latter discovered that is why there are two versions of what lead Daniel to the lion den

Dead people dont pray.

Sorry.....as a catholic, I never got used to the intercession of saints

well as a catholic, if you believe there are saints and believe they are in heaven....why dont you believe they can intercede for you...?

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

is this not in the catholic bible?
for your good information, i go to God himself through prayers not through mary or peter or one saint...
he asked us to ask his name not Mary's name

but the problem i have is that no one is forcing this belief on you, true christainity is having several opinion but in the long run coming back to one God. so if you have a problem with catholic belief, keep it to your self, do not attack another persons belief. i think it is just very very wrong.

I know....the apocrypha.....

This is the simple reason why I laugh at other churches that mock the catholic church.....they have very little idea about the completeness of their bible

If not for that other 'churches' no one would have bible at home. And as for the apocrypha... a collections of latter discovered books, some full of moral, some full of contraction... Like Daniel and the poor woman and the wicked judges.
I will correct myself here. It did have the same meaning. It was Exodus 20:4, but in her Bible there was an addendum after 4.

Just saying what i saw.

Only God knows if he is in HELL or HEAVEN. display of bones is not part of Christianity. As Christian the Bible is our standard. Anything outside the bible is man ideology.

Do you have copies of the original manuscripts? The protestant and Catholic bible which came first?

Before I argue further why don't you post the two versions here for us to see the so-called variation.

I have been looking online. When I compared the the two, it was actual Bibles. Not online, and like I said, it has been a long time. The woman has passed. I don't know where her Bible went. I will continue to search.

SOME PEPLE ARE SAYING WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF THIS DISPLAY,I WOULD RESPOND IT IS TO PROVE TO THE FAITHFULS THAT WHAT THEY READ IN THE BIBLE ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND NOT THE WORKS OF FICTION.IF PLACES OR PEOPLE DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE COULD NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN MODERN TIMES THEN WE CAN ACTUALLY START COMPARING IT TO THE ILLYAD OF HOMER AND OTHER FICTIONAL WORKS.

BROS ARE YOU SERIOUSLY KIIDING ME? THE DEUTERECANONS ARE HISTORICAL AND NOT FULL OF CONTRADICTIONS.EVEN SOME CONTRADICTIONS CAN ALSO BE FOUND IN SOME OTEHR BOOKS IF YOU LOOK AT IT IN THE SAME LIGHT AS A SECULAR WORK.

THE STORY OF JUDAS MACABEES AND HIS BROTHERS ARE HISTORICAL FACT AND IS ATTESTED BY EVEN JEWS TODAY IN EXISTENCE.THE FEAST OF HANNUKAH ONE OF TODAY'S FOREMOST JEWISH FEATS EVEN DESCRIBED IN JOHN 10:22 WAS INSTITUTED BY JUDAS MACABEEES

Christ actually does pray for us
Romans 8
34 Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?

the bones was displayed to show to some idiots that he is really dead. no need to pray to him again. he cant even help himself, he had to God. same as mary , john etc. if only those people can read their bible, they wud c that wat they are doing is outside wat the bible are saying. even recent revelations show that pope john paul, micheal jackson, whitney houston, bimbo odukoya are in hell. what the bible is saying is Christ 1st then holiness. but its just sad that today christains dont know wat we ought to believe in.

Enigma: @Pebcak

You might find another post I made earlier helpful.

Note a major difference between Roman Catholics and others --- others even including Eastern Orthodox. These others believe that the Apocrypha is not part of the canon even though its books can be useful secondarily. On the other hand Roman Catholics say anyone that does not accept the Apocrypha as part of the canon is ---- anathema! (Roman Catholics too like to dey swear for people, I tell you!) smiley

So, here is that one I made earlier .........

1. Jerome ('church father'), Gregory ('pope'), Cajetan ('cardinal') --- all Roman Catholics; all major Roman Catholics (all speaking before the Roman Catholics finally set their own canon) ---- all AGREE with the so-called "Protestants" about the books of the canon!

2. To clarify further, the King James version (originally and for a long time and still in some editions) took the same approach as Jerome, Gregory I, Cajetan as well as Athanasius that the books of the Apocrypha are not in the canon but can be useful in a secondary role. Thus the KJV used to include the Apocrypha but place them in a different part to mark their distinction from the main canonical books.

A further note of interest, even today, there are still "protestants" who use books of the Apocrypha in this secondary role.

The Roman Catholics like to muddy the waters, throw confusion and hope people will not notice their lies if they are not familiar with or clear on the history and development of the canon (or even canons) of the Bible. cheesy

smiley

bros,

i am a catholic but let me help your argument:
whether the catholics added extra books to the bible is irrelevant as Catholics are not "sola scriptural". For the catholic church, the scripture is one of three sources of doctrine. so even if "we/they" did not add to the bible "we/they" will still do things that are outside the bible as doctrinal.

it would be better for you to focus energies on why the catholic church take/use sources of doctrine outside the bible.

in terms of your arguments on the canon, it seems like you know your history (more than me a catholic sef). The aprocrypha is called "deuterocanonical" by the catholic church for a reason: "deuterocanonical" means "the second canon".

protestants and hebrews consider them "apocrypha"

Catholicism a sect/pagan/ w***e of babylon? lol SMH

Saint Polycarp,(AD 69–155) Bishop of Smyria, disciple and successor of John the apostle:
Therefore I urge all of you to obey the word of righteousness and {to practice endurance to the limit},44 which you
also saw {with your own eyes},45 not only in the blessed Ignatius and Zosimus and Rufus,46 but also in others
{from your number},47 and in Paul himself, and the other apostles. ( letter of polycarp to the Philippians)

ST.Ignatius of Antioch(AD 35-107) Bishop of Antioch, successor of St.peter and St. Evodius. Disciple of john (like polycarp above)appointed Bishop of Antioch by St.Peter.
Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful to baptize or give communion without the consent of the bishop. On the other hand, whatever has his approval is pleasing to God. Thus, whatever is done will be safe and valid. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans

Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God ... They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2–7:1
