The Catholic bible is different. I mentioned something to a Catholic friend of mine once from the KJV of the Bible. She said it was not in hers. We compared the two. Sure enough the passage was different. Not just worded differently, but saying the same thing. It had a totally different meaning.
can you quote the exact portion of the Scripture? |

The bible is a collection of coverless books, most of which we're authored by unknown persons and no titles to the books. The books included in the so called canon, were the ones that met the agenda and beliefs of the catholic and Protestant churches. Simple. Now to the topic. How did the Catholic Church know that the bones in their care are really those of St. Peter? Was the first bishop of Rome really the St. Peter of the gospels? |

Am not sure either, I've been thinking about it and it's probably made up. Paul seems more fitting to have been the first catholic church head. apostolic church was headed by Peter until Paul came and started preaching to non-Jews |

Enigma: ^ It is not even correct to say that the Roman Catholics "compiled" the Bible as my posts above have argued; it is neither correct to say that the first Bible had 73 books. It is in fact a lie. Bros you expected a living soul to read all those jagons you downloaded from goggle. It is people like you that wrote those things and you copied them here and expected us to believe. Can u go further and prove every detail you posted beyond any reasonable doubt. 1 Like |

ifenadi: Bros, I think I provided at least enough starting evidence for what I said. Maybe you can try to confirm what I said or to disprove them. Let us take a couple of examples. 1. Can you try and confirm how the bishops/representatives voted on the Roman Catholic Bible at the Council of Trent? 2. Can you check whether or not Jerome the "church father" said the following? Jerome: "As the Church reads the books of Judith and Tobit and Maccabees but does not receive them among the canonical Scriptures, so also it reads Wisdom and Ecclesiasticus for the edification of the people, not for the authoritative confirmation of doctrine." 3. Can you check whether "pope" Gregory I said the following? Per "pope" Gregory I or Gregory the Great Just before referring to the Maccabees, he said “With reference to which particular we are not acting irregularly, if from the books, though not Canonical, yet brought out for the edifying of the Church, we bring forward testimony.” |

Many so called relics of the church have been proven to be fake and forged eg the shroud of Turin believed to be burial cloth of Jesus with his face image imprinted on it. It was proven to have been made in about 14th century by a primitive pinhole camera; the thumb bone of St. Paul; letter from Mary the mother of Jesus writing from heaven. It was customary in medieval Europe to forge these relics to make money, deify the church, increase membership and awe. There are good grounds in support of the idea that Jesus and his 12 disciples could have been fictional characters concorted by some clever religious men. The four gospels were selected from a pool of almost 200 to ensure no Gnosticism was allowed in their canon, and those gospels expressing support for more teaching roles for women were expunged eg the gospel of Mary, the female disciple of Christ who had an apocalyptic vision of Christ that made Peter envious and express misogynistic views. Thus the bible is not a collection of historical writings but theological works composed of wise sayings, myths and philosophical and theological ideologies over the ages that the church finds useful in its mission and agenda- like a library. And this is the right way to understand these bible books and church relics. If they help you in your spiritual life and emotional well being that's good. If you find them weird, spooky, unreal and too mind bugling, you need not bother with them. |

The dangers of private listing of scriptures can never be over emphasized!! Marcion was the first person to create a canon in christiandom when he in the second century created is own canon excluding the entire books of the OT,other apostolic writings besides that of paul and edited the gospel of luke to create his own Gospel of marcion. He was subsequently excommunicated by the catholic church for his heretic beleifs. Other Catholic church fathers like Origen,Athanasius etc later tried to list out books they think should constitute the canon.it is noteworthy to observe that these private lists were contradicting themselves and could not really agree on the canon. This individual canons are not in use by any church in existence today A church council was subsequently called in hippo to decide the books of the bible in 393CE.it was here that the 73 books of the catholic bible were firtst selected. This decisions were later ratified by the councils of carthage 397CE and 419CE and the council of trent in 1546.This four church councils agreed amongst themselves while private listing of scriptures by differant people contradicted themselves. We can not allow people ro start chosing scriptures as that would amount to anarchy. The same canon produced @ hippo and carthage in the fourt and fifth centuries is exactly what was adopted @ trent in 1546. Origen canon see link here http://www.ntcanon.org/Origen.shtml |

Marcion, rejected the entire Old Testament. He accepted the following Christian writings in this order: Gospel according to Luke Galatians I Corinthians II Corinthians Romans I Thessalonians II Thessalonians Ephesians (which Marcion called Laodiceans) Colossians Philemon Philippians but only after pruning and editorial adjustment. In his opinion the 12 apostles misunderstood the teaching of Christ, and, holding him to be the Messiah of the Jewish God, falsified his words from that standpoint. Passages that Marcion could regard only as Judaizing interpolations, that had been smuggled into the text by biased editors, had to be removed so the authentic text of Gospel and Apostle could once again be available. After these changes, the Gospel according to Luke became the Evangelicon, and the 10 Pauline letters, the Apostolikon. Marcion rejected the following Christian writings: Gospel according to Matthew Gospel according to John Marcion's canon accelerated the process of fixing the Church's canon, which had already begun in the first half of the 2nd century. It was in opposition to Marcion's criticism that the Church first became fully conscious of its inheritance of apostolic writings. According to [Grant] (p. 126): "Marcion forced more orthodox Christians to examine their own presuppositions and to state more clearly what they already believed". http://www.ntcanon.org/Marcion.shtml |

[7] The first council that accepted the present Catholic canon (the Canon of Trent) may have been the Synod of Hippo Regius in North Africa (AD 393); the acts of this council, however, are lost. A brief summary of the acts was read at and accepted by the Councils of Carthage in 397 and 419.[8] These councils were under the authority of St. Augustine, who regarded the canon as already closed.[9] Pope Damasus I's Council of Rome in 382, if the Decretum Gelasianum is correctly associated with it, issued a biblical canon identical to that mentioned above,[6] or if not the list is at least a sixth-century compilation.[10] Likewise, Damasus's commissioning of the Latin Vulgate edition of the Bible, circa 383, was instrumental in the fixation of the canon in the West.[11] In 405, Pope Innocent I sent a list of the sacred books to a Gallic bishop, Exsuperius of Toulouse. When these bishops and councils spoke on the matter, however, they were not defining something new, but instead "were ratifying what had already become the mind of the church. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_the_Christian_biblical_canon 2 Likes |

Hmmm, Roman Catholics and deliberate lying sha - with the help of their Wikipedia propaganda! 1. The claim about any canon in Damasus' "Council" of 382 is a lie! That is why the Wikipedia entry uses the language "if the Decretum Gelasianum is correctly associated with it." This is because the list based on the Decretum Gelasianum is known to be a forgery produced about 100 to 200 years after 382! A list supposedly prepared in 382 AD refers to events that occurred several years later in 415! Why? Because the forgers made a historical blunder that gave their game away! 2. If Damasus, a whole "pope" and at a "council" for that matter, had established the canon in 382 why would Hippo in 393 and Carthage up to 419 still be establishing a canon let alone Trent in 1546 --- the 16th century? 3. And on the claim about Athanasius' list being "private", here is one I made earlier Athanasius list "private"! lol lol Yeah right, something he said was divine, and delivered to the fathers by eyewitnesses from the beginning' that one don become "private". An extract from that statement of Athanasius I referred to. While identifying and listing the books of "the Bible" in AD 367 (long before anything that the Roman Catholics can claim) he referred to: "... the divinely inspired Scripture, concerning which we have been fully persuaded, as they who from the beginning were eye-witnesses and ministers of the Word, delivered to the Fathers; it seemed good to me also, having been urged thereto by true brethren, and having learned from the beginning, to set before you the books included in the Canon, and handed down, and accredited as divine ....... " When it suits them the Roman Catholics claim "tradition". When Athanasius shows the world tradition that exposes Roman Catholic lies, they turn their backs to "tradition". |
Re: The Bones Of St Peter Go On Display by Enigma(m): 7:07am On Nov 15, 2013 |
By the way, here is another one I made earlier! When Roman Catholics tell lies and use fraudulent arguments, they tend to overlook that it can easily rebound on them. If a person says the list of canonical books presented by Athanasius is "private", then of course: - Irenaeus list of "popes" that they even gerrymander ----- is also only a "private" list. - Eusebius' list of "popes" --- is also only a "private list". And of course those are in any event contradicted by the lists of Tertullian and Jerome. And of course none of these lists is said to be divine --- unlike Athanasisus' list of canonical books which is said to be accredited and divine and delivered to the fathers by eyewitnesses from the beginning! |
