rudedough: I understand what you mean. Church Pastors and Nollywood are to blame. Sir in as much as I devour books, I love and detest them at the same time. Books are afterall, a matter of opinion. You see what damage the by-products of some opinions have caused right? The online world is a vast treasure trove. We live in the Information Age. Make good use of it. Even our Yoruba Babalawos and IyanIfas have realised that. Knowledge and Religion can be found by only those who seek it. What is your tribe, if I may ask? You need hands on experience, not books. |

rudedough: I don tire abeg make una leave me make I rest. Lord Ogun requires dog sacrifice, not human sacrifice. The sacrifice is usually done by blacksmiths, to thank the God of Metallurgy and the elements, for helping in their trade and to guide them further. It is usually done every forthnight. During the festival, people dance and eat dog meat for 3 days. Lord Ogun always demands the best. Therefore you usually find a dog's head hung in the corner of blacksmith workshops. Human sacrifices are not done these days, because there are no more wars, the days of the Kings rule are over and Nigeria Govt. won't allow the use of convicted criminals. 1 Like |

I have come across atheists in the past; they are very logical and intelligent as well. Having been a participant on this thread since it started, I have to come to a conclusion that all these guys parading themselves as 'atheists' are just 'WANNABE ATHEISTS'. You call yourselves 'atheists'...lol. U wish! You all lack the logic and reasoning to be counted when they are calling atheists. I am not here to debate with anyone of you about if there is a God or not - whether you believe or not - it is your choice! My primary purpose here is to expose you all for who you are - JOKERS!!! I am deriving great pleasure doing that. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools - Roman 1:22 1. Let me school you a little on logic and reasoning. Some of you are even damn too scared to write God as 'god'. (lol...that is going off tangent I agree) You want to debate about the bible..., you pick up verses about the Law of Moses and start ranting to Christians about it. Doesn't your logical reasoning dictate to you that if you want to debate the Laws of Moses you need to look for someone that practices Judaism. The number one FACT that you guys are so clueless is that ''you do not even have the understand of what to debate about and who you should really face'' yet you claim to have read the bible. Who is a Christian (even though Jesus called them Disciples)? A NEW COMMANDMENT I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. - John 13:34-35 King James Version (KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: Matthew 28:18 -19 Whatsoever I (Jesus) NOT MOSES commanded you. What command did Jesus give? LOVE!!! All you FAKE ATHEISTS, if you have an issue with the commandments of God. Ask me 'why I should love' which Jesus commanded me NOT some Laws of Moses which I do not follow because I do not follow Judaism. That is a little logic and reasoning for you. Now you argue that Jesus did not abolish the Law and that He came to fulfill it...are you serious? Lol. FULFILL that is what you have been blah blah blah about since yet you claim you think logically. Let me school you on what FULFILLing the law and prophets is Mathew 1: 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be FULFILLED which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. FULFILLED in that context mean it was predicted NOW IT HAS HAPPENED..., am I right? That means for you to say that it has been FULFILLED - it means it has now come to reality. So FULFILLMENT in the bible means PAST PREDICTIONS OR PROPHESY becoming a REALITY. I will give you further examples. Matthew 2 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. 14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: 15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. 16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. 19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. 21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: 23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene. Another example Matthew 4 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Now the verse you have all been ranting about Matthew 5 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Now tell me how FULFILL in that verse means that 'law says to stone so you should keep stoning'...lol. Jokers, you lot! If FULFILL as you understand it means 'stone' how come Jesus did not stone the woman caught in adultery but he said to her, ''neither do I condemn you" - John 8:11 If FULFILL as you understand it means 'stone' how come Jesus said; For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved - John 3:17 If Jesus said ''I came to fulfill'' yet he never 'stoned' one person. He said ''I came to fulfill'' and yet he was LOUNGING (i love that word..allow me to use it ) with sinners. Does logical reasoning not tell you that your understanding FULFILL is faulty? FULFILL as used in the verses simply means, ''bringing into reality what was prophesied in the law and prophets''. Moses prophesied Deuteronomy 18:15 – “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites, and you must listen to that prophet.” Fulfillment - JESUS WAS BORN! You guys are the most unintelligent, illogical, non-rational group of atheists I have come across. You are all disappointments to the atheist community. Abeg make una park joor!!! 5 Likes |

PAGAN 9JA: Let me take your questions in a more rational outlook. Let's say you were born at the North into an Islamic family, chances are that you will grow up a Muslim and nothing can change your view that any other god exist except Allah. If you're born in the SE into a Catholic Christian family, chances are that you will grow up a Catholic and nothing can change your view that any other god exist except Jesus and God. If you're born in India, chances are that you will grow up a Hinduist and nothing can change your view that any other god exist except Krishna. If you're born in China, chances are that you'll grow up a Buddhist and nothing can change your view that any other god exist except Buddha. Same goes with being born into a traditional family, chances are that you will grow up to worship your Ogun or Amadioha and no other god will be relevant to you. I think we are influenced by the society in which we find ourselves and using this logic we can ascertain that our respective view of "God" lies solely in our respective imagination. God is what we make of him, there is no proof of the existence of any god. |
Re: Inviting Rudedough To A Discussion On God by PAGAN9JA(m): 8:30pm On Dec 26, 2013 |
rudedough: Ok I get you. However have you realized that out of the millions of Traditional Religions worldwide, not one of them is proselytizing? This is because we Pagans believe each has his/her own path to the Gods. It proves the Gods are Universal. Not subject to one race's ideology. (The Jews or Arabs). ABout the proof, it is only through experience. If you dont experience, then nothing can be said. ALl you have to do is to continue the ritual practices of your ancestors. You will slowly get there. IF not for beliefs sake, atleast for culture and tribal duty's sake. But you will realise once you are into it. Take me for example; in the past I did not experience the SPiritual Realm. Yet I continued the practice of my ancestors as my parents thought me. Now I have Spiritual/Supernatural (maybe you may even call it superstitious) encounters every other day. Because now I realise the meaning of certain things that cannot be explained. It is a bit complicated. Same with the HIndu's of India or the Japanese. maybe 50-60% are atheists among them. yet they continue the ritual practices of their ancestors. Therefore the % keeps fluctuating. Everything has its time and place. . 1 Like |

seemylife: Interesting, honestly I'm impressed but let's see how Jesus shows loves to one another. Before his arrest, the holy Jesus was ready to show some love to his Jewish brothers. Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. I think I'll be needing a sword to show you some Jesus love . Talking about hypocrisy. In fact enough of God, let's discuss Jesus. |

Re: Inviting Rudedough To A Discussion On God by Nobody: 8:51pm On Dec 26, 2013 |
PAGAN 9JA: Exactly what we Atheists talk about. You have probably experienced Ogun. Christian have experienced Jesus and God Muslims have experienced Allah Buddhist have experienced Buddha Hindus have experienced Krishna And they are all in the spiritual realm which is subjected to your individual experience and cannot be proven. It's all in your imagination Bro. Unless you can appear in front of me right now and make me experience Ogun the way you supposedly experienced it, then your claim have no authentication. Without proof an Atheist cannot believe anything and I cannot maintain the status quo because it's a culture or believe of my ancestors. Men those people were of the stone age, if you had shown them in those days that you could communicate with someone thousands of miles apart using a square shaped technology, they would have killed you and sacrificed you to the gods as an evil child. You don't want to be like sacrificed Bro |
Re: Inviting Rudedough To A Discussion On God by PAGAN9JA(m): 8:55pm On Dec 26, 2013 |
OlaoChi: *There are 2 types of Human sacrifices: -Human sacrifices conducted by pvt. ritualist these days for personal gain, reasons, etc. Not done by Priests. -Human sacrifice as done in the days of the Empires, with the use of convicted criminals and POW's who would anyways have been executed, as was the norm of battle in those days around the world. In this context, the belief is that "If animals can be sacrificed, then why not humans?" "After all, we are all of flesh and blood and were created equally/interdependently by the Creator Force." Humans being higher on the complexity chart, would therefore have a more complex driving force, thereby carrying higher sacrificial rewards. Therefore such sacrifices were reserved for very rare and auspicious occasions, such as a monarch's death, war-time, etc. -Organized/General Tribal ATR's / Pagan religions don't have human sacrifice as a requirement (necessary or otherwise). Take the case of Lord Ogun in the bygone days: Lord Ogun is a primordial Orisha whose first appearance was represented by a hunter named Tobe Ode. Lord Ogun is said to be the first of the Orisha to descend to the realm of Ile Aiye (the earth) to find suitable habitation for future human life. In commemoration of this one of his praise names (Oriki), is Osin Imole or the “first of the primordial Orisha to come to Earth”. Ogun was most likely first worshiped by the Yoruba people of West Africa. Ogun is worshiped in places like Ekiti, Oyo and Ondo States. Ogun is believed to have (wo ile sun) which means to sink into the ground not to die, in a place named Ire-Ekiti. Through out his entire life, Tobe Ode fought for the people of Ire. Ogun is the god of iron and of war, and, like Shango, is also a patron of hunters. Iron is sacred to him, and when swearing by Ogun it is usual to touch an iron implement with the Ilorgue. (similar to a practice done by European Celtic Tribes) . The name Ogun seems to mean “One who pierces” (gun, to pierce, or thrust with something pointed). He is specially worshipped by blacksmiths, and by those who make use of iron weapons or tools. Any piece of iron can be used as a symbol of Ogun, and the ground is sacred to him because iron ore is found in it. He is one of those who sprang from the body of Yemaya. The usual sacrifice offered to Ogun is a dog, together with fowls, palm oil, and minor articles of food. A proverb says, “An old dog must be sacrificed to Ogun,” meaning that Ogun claims the best; and a dog’s head, emblematic of this sacrifice, is always to be seen fastened up in some conspicuous part of the workshops of blacksmiths. In ancient times on very important occasions, however, a human was offered, and, as in the case of a sacrifice to Elegua, the entrails are exposed before the image and the body suspended from a tree. The victim is slain by having his head struck off upon the stool of Ogun, over which the blood is made to gush. The reason of this is that the blood is believed to contain the vital principle, and therefore to be an offering, particularly acceptable to the Gods. This belief appears to be common to most barbarons peoples; the Israelites held it, and blood was considered to be so peculiarly the portion of their National God, that the blood of all animals slain, whether for sacrifice or food, had to be presented as an offering, no one being allowed to eat it under pain of death. When war has been decided upon, a P.O.W slave or a criminal is offered as a sacrifice to Ogun, to ensure success. The day before that on which he is to be immolated, the victim is led with great ceremony through the principal thoroughfares, and paraded in the market, where he is allowed to say or do anything he pleases (short of escaping his impending fate), may gratify his desire with any woman who takes his fancy, and give his tongue every licence. The reason of his being thus honoured for the twenty-four hours before being sacrificed, is that it is believed he will be born again and become a king; and, after the head has been struck off, the corpse is treated with the greatest respect by all. The priests of Ogun usually take out the hearts of human victims, which are dried, reduced to powder, then mixed with rum, and sold to persons who wish to be endowed with great courage, and who drink the mixture. The reason of this is that the heart is believed to be the seat of courage and to inherently possess that quality; and that when the heart is devoured or swallowed the quality with which it is inspired is also taken into the system. In Dahomey mythology, Gu is the god of war and patron deity of smiths and craftsmen. He was sent to earth to make it a nice place for people to live, and he has not yet finished this task. ( no surprises there! ) In all his incarnations, Lord Ogoun is a fiery and martial spirit.Lord Ogun can be very aggressively masculine—much like the spirit Shango—but can also rule the head of female, or effeminate male initiates to whom Lord Ogun takes a liking. He is also linked with blood, and is for this reason often called upon to heal diseases of the blood. In the cult of Orishas, Lord Ogun appears in other aspects, such as Ogun Akirun, Ogun Alagbede, Ogun Alara, Ogun Elemona, Ogun Ikole, Ogun Meji, Ogun Oloola, Ogun Onigbajamo, Ogun Onire, Ogun-un, Onile, the latter being a feminine incarnation. In conclusion. THe moral of the story is: A Peaceful Society won't have human sacrifices. A society at war will. So if you don't want to end up on the altar. . . . ...... Make Peace! |

Your tribe also offers you special privileges, etc. and a brotherhood. @truthislight Since Drummerboy has given me the "Carry go" to convert one more Christian to Atheism, let us look at your reference to Abraham's son Isaac. We all know the Abraham story and "it was all a test" excuses, nothing serious at all. But was Jephthah daughter "a test" too? Judges 11:29-40 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah.... And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the Lord’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.” Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the Lord gave them into his hands..... When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of timbrels! She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, “Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the Lord that I cannot break.” ... After the two months, she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. And she died a virgin. This was a test too right? I see it is all but "a test". "whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me... I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering." Does this sound like Jephthah was expecting a cow to come out of his house? He was probably expecting one of his wives to come out 1st to greet him. "She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter" This part means that just like Isaac, Jephthah daughter was his only child and a little girl. Why didn't God reject the burnt offering and provide a goat like he did for Isaac? Oh no "that was just a test". "and he did to her as he had vowed" Meaning he sacrificed his daughter as a burnt offering. Mehn!!! I can't even imagine. You all Christians are sick in the head. |

Are you just dumb or i just have to explain everything to you? can't you guys think with your coconut head? Picture this, use your imagination. I think they were outnumbered and after Peter stroked, Jesus saw the armies charging for revenge, Jesus quickly asked them to withdraw their sword cos "He who lives by the sword will die by the sword" meaning, if you strike the armies with your sword, they will retaliate with their swords. But No you guys twist it like Jesus does not condone violence. Rubbish!! I can't believe that these Pastors completely ignored the part where Jesus asks his disciples to sell their cloaks and buy swords. |
