oyinda.: The Lagosians that have English or Brazillian names are either Got the name from their father early association with whitemen, some have to change name since oyinbo could not pronounce them while names like Dacosta Da Rocha, McGreagor were names of freed slaves or their children that returned to Nigeria after slave trade. They even named there compounds after foreign land like, Campos or Brazilian Quarters in Isale Eko, The main the main Lagos There are other reason though. |

I think it had to do with lots of disagreement from Ekiti quarters about power sharing and all. Ekiti believed they were more learned and need to rule, Ondo refused them that. So they clamored for a State. They have lots of professors and of course, londoners who pulled strings here and there to make it work. The general belief was, Ondo didn't deserve to have people of Ekiti's intelligence. This is what I heard, and I can't certify how true it is. |

Remii:The only people that can claim to be Lagosians are the EPEs and AWORIs, any other people claiming they are Lagosians are disillusioned. |

TheSeeker: I really do not know why, may be because those who first write Yoruba letters like Ajayi Crowder and Samuel Johnson were from Oyo area, I guess. |

TheSeeker: Land owners are different from people who have become indegenes, Aworis rules as kings but those who have been in Lagos since time Imo river what do you call them. Are you going to send the Fernades back to Brazil now. lol. Even Tinubu the former Governor was from Osun State, Iragbiji and Jakande was from Kwara, so what are you saying. |

Re: Osun -- State Of The Living Spring! Identify Here by TheSeeker(m): 3:28am On Jul 23, 2009 |
Remii:OK, my stand still is that no one is from Lagos state. And how do you become indigenes in Nigeria? Being indigenous in Nigeria means your generation from way back starts from there. Tinubu is from Osun State hence, he's no indigene of Lagos neither is Jakande. What does being an indigene mean in Nigeria? Tell me |

Re: Osun -- State Of The Living Spring! Identify Here by Nobody: 3:46am On Jul 23, 2009 |
amosexy: I think it should be the other way round as in Modakeke indigenes abusing you when they're your peeps. Modakeke originally from Gbongan, not Gbongan from Modakeke. me sef I developed sudden tiredness as soon as I learnt of this development. Dont forget Owu people too migrated to Gbongan, according to that website. So OBJ may be your distant kinsman as well, though that doesnt necessarily have to be a bad thing. |
