Gbongan was founded by Olufi. He was a son of the then Alaafin of Oyo, Abiodun Adegoriolu. Olufi left Oyo because of the crisis at the wake of his father's death. Many Oyo natives migrated with Olufi. I think he took Igori route or so, moved to Songbe and eventually laid to rest at Gbongan Ile.

Oyo became distablized, some smaller communities took chance on Oyo to establish their own domains. The soldiers of fortune made it possible for the Fulanis to swoop and destroy many Oyo towns. When Fulani got hold of Oyo, the natives moved out and spread across along Ile-Ife: Some settled with Olufi and some in Origbo(Ipetumodu & co). Those who settled in Ife later amalgamated with Modakeke. Some people from Origbo later settled into Gbongan as well.

Gbongan's peace was interrrupted when Fulani defeated Afonja in Ilorin and they formed forces with Iwo Muslims to attack Gbongan, Ikire and Ipetumodu. They flee their towns and refuged at Ile-Ife. That is why till today, these towns have a good relationship with Ife.

When the decision to rebuild Gbongan came, a different site was chosen -- or so --  I think.

The sad part is, Ibadan prevailed on Gbongan to be an ally in the Kiriji war. Gbongan fought as an ally of Ibadan also in the Modakeke war. That's why most Modakekes moved to settle in Gbongan in 1909 before Ode Omu was founded in 1910 for the Modakekes who chose to settle in seperate towns. . . . .  I think this is the true history of Gbongan, Amosexy!

FL Gators,
Osun men are very romantic, loving and understanding. Ile-Ife men are more concerned with their women. If you ask Ifeleke, he'll tell you Ilesha women are good cooks, the best I've seen. Didn't they say the way to a man's heart is his stomach? Well, that's how they get their men trapped and Ijesha men are lovers of pounded yam "Iyan". If you know how to make that, you're already in their good books. If you don't, you shall be taught. Generally, Ijesha love their women and care about them too. I can't say the same about Ibadan though or Ekiti. Osogbo are absolutely one man one wife mostly.

Ekiti and Ilesha share the same quality and quantity of stubbornness. And about their names, yes, it mostly ends with "mi"

I won't lie, I have my temper, my own stubborness an dlow tolerance level.

Our men can be stubborn and their gra gra is too much, like any typical naija man. Even Osun men tongue tongue

Don't go there with Osun men. We're special. Too special. We simply know how to treat women. The only town that shares your level of stubbornness is Ilesha; yet their women aren't as stubborn as the Ekitis. You know sometimes, an Ekiti can be cluelessly stubborn!

Of course you'll claim that Osun men are special, are you not form Osun?
It'd be very stupid of me to expect you to say condescending stuff about your people. tongue

I've been observing you, and I think you're stubborn yourself. Determination is not stubbornness, my dear

When you have your mind set on what you have to achieve within justifiable limits that's determination. When you're defying whatever odd, positive or negative, to do what's not generally accepted not to be right, that's first degree stubbornness and Ekiti has an abundance of that. I salute their courage though. Of course, there are condescending facts about some Osun men. I'm not a hypocrite. Osogbo men don't have courage. They are lazy. Osogbo women are more workaholics and are always responsible for feeding the family. Ife men like going to parties. They are diplomatic. Ede men are stupid, don't care about their family. They can marry 10 wives at a go. Does that sound balanced to you?

Balanced.

You, too, are very stubborn. From what I've observed. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing.

Who says men are stupid! Gbongan men, uhmmm, I don't really know a lot about them but the ones I've known are pretty much laid back. When you go there what you see is men generally helping out sales for their wives. Some say it's metaphysical power at work, some say it ain't. But if it is, that paints Gbongan women red. By the way, I've not seen Ikire, Ede, Ipetumodu, Ife, Iwo, Apomu, Esa-Oke?

I have to mention we have some great people from Osun State too. The present governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola was two-time military administrator in Lagos State. Do I go on?

Aderemi is it. There no perfect man nor woman, that why it is called marriage, I guess, they are together now, how are you sure the next dude would be different. Everyone looks great until chips are down. that is my 2 cents. I dont not really like separations unless its becoming life threathing.

Aderemi? - The crown belongs to me? Or am I translating it wrong?

I don't want to disrespect amosexy and make her the main figure of this discussion, so if you don't mind, I'd like make the discussion broad to all women/men.
But one thing you need to understand is that it's better to have a broken relationship rather than a broken marriage. Separation is not my forte too, but its better to separate than to have a guy take her for granted.

I didn't categorize all men to be the same. I'm stating what's more common in these areas and if anyone has a different objectives, I'm ready to take them on. Of course, out of every 12, there's a Judas -- always. It's widely believed, and no offense to the Ibadans, that they are commonly thieves and they generally have concubines. But does that mean they are all the same? Maybe you're not understanding where I'm coming from.
