Trash! Igbos were the ancestors of Igodomingodo. The Ogiso were an offshoot of the Igbo people who began the empire before the rise of the Bini’s. All the Kings of Igodomingodo had Igbo bloodline, from Igodo than to the last Ogiso.

Their Igbo bloodline carried on into the Benin empire, as the first oba was still an Nri man, Oba Iweka (EWEKA)

Yoruba language doesn't have GW but ondo dialects, ekiti and some Yorubas dialects has GW so what are you saying cheesy stop writing what you don't know
aren't you leaving out the fact that those parts borders kogi and igala land directly and may have picked it up from being in close proximity?....ok explain the absence of the other letters

How this part of history was totally ignored by everybody including the Igbos themselves still baffles me a lot, there is no telling what further archeological research may open up
This is why we need an historical revolution in Igboland based on facts and archeological findings. The limited history of Dike, Onwuejogwu, Isichei etc who submerged Igbo history with shallow hearsay should be thrown to the dustbin.

it's a fact that the Oba title originated from Nri passed to the Bini from where the Yorubas picked it and blew it up

Absolutely, the major hindrance is that the acidic property of the soil in West Africa degrades archeological items much faster than any other part of the world, but still

Follow the lead of your Ooni and question the folk tales you have been made to believe over the years, ask for facts don't rely stories...Oduduwa fell from heaven with a chain? What a joke

I'm not doubting Nri spiritual/cultural headship of the Benin’s, because it's obvious that in time past, the Oba’s of Benin paid homage to Eze Nri. The Portuguese account is a pointer to that fact. What I'm looking at is Igodomingodo and the outlying Igbo connection in the Ife/Ondo axis. I want to believe the Igodomingodo were independent on their own, same as the people of Agbor, Igbanke etc. However, my focus is that we had Igbo groups in that axis, spreading down to Ife before the coming of Oduduwa and upwards to Kaduna/Kogi before the arrival of the Igala, Jukun etc.

lol just tell me you want me to io say it. Except Yorubas that ain't versed in history will not know the meaning of Oduduwa, I intentionally tell you his last name iwa shortened as (wa) that's not his full name just like Fayemi, mimiko those surnames are not their full names it was just shorten
But you clearly do not have any meaningful thing to say, I have very learned yoruba people that have accepted they can't find any meaning for Oduduwa in yoruba language

Igala people are a fusion of present Yoruba, Igbo, Benin, Jukun and later Hausa. However, their language and culture is a mix of Yoruba, Igbo and Jukun.
That seems plausible, I think there is also a Bini element in it

It's not a mystery that within the African continent that Igbo history, stretching for millenia is rich and awe-inspiring.
The oldest instruments, glass/carnelian jewellery, bronze antiques and clothing in west Africa were all found in Igboland. Similarly, the oldest iron-smelting areas in Africa has also been found there.

But the terrible thing is that there are still so many blanks in Igbo history that must be filled in order to present to our future generations and very few Igbo groups are taking the initiative to uncover it. There is still so, so much to be found.
Archaeology in this country is so lacking that Nigerians don't realise the gold they have literally buried underneath their feet. Just by doing routine research on some of the more popular smelting sites in the SE, archaeologists have already they found pieces of pottery dating back to millenia as well as evidence of activities stretching back to around 3000bc.

Igbos are a group distinct from the Nigerian project and can no longer continue to rely on the whims of the Nigerian government to promote indigenous archaeology, it is something that Igbos have to grasp themselves.

When Igbo history is uncovered and intensively researched , it will strengthen the Igbo national pride, and I am very confident, will catapault Igbo history to centrestage along with well-known civlisations such as Egypt, Japan, Mayan, etc, etc.

You are just bangind table top to create noise, you have no such antiquity that you claim on. Your history has failed to stand on its own without any attachment to Yoruba arts. In fact look at the topic of your thread. It shows your desperation to manipulate what your so called history for acceptabce in public. Arts and history should speak for itself and catch attention, not forced for acceptance. If Yoruba contents in your history is removed your concocted fables of ancient history will collapse.

The Benin element in Igala history arose as a result of Prince Aji Attah a scion of Queen Idia who became King of the Igala during Benin victory over Igalaland. It was even said that the town Idah is a corrupted form of Queen Idia. Benin’s victory over the Igala was supported by the firearm supplies from the Portuguese and this period began the rise of the Benin empire, as they made use of that superiority to subdue their neighbours.
However, the Benin Attah’s dynasty was supplanted by the Jukuns sailors/warriors who conquered Idah from the river Benue, after more than a century or so.

OK, let me go slightly further.

Any Igbo man reading this should be seated, lest you break your computer screen or kick your shoes at your TV screen.

There is a place called IPONRI, in Lagos.
For those who understand modern Yoruba writings IPO in Yoruba will be pronounced as IKPO in Igbo.

Igbos at times go by the title ONO NA IKPO AKU, which means SEATED ON A HEAP OF WEALTH. Basically IKPO means HEAP in English.

Now getting back to my tale, in IPONRI, there is a shrine there till today, which is maintained, exactly the same way the Umu Nris maintain shrines.

What this means, is that Nris (Igbos) made it to Lagos in ancient times. With this in mind, IPONRI now assumes a different meaning as it would have meant NRI JOINT or NRI SETTLEMENT or NRI HEAP.

It was an Oba in Agukwu that informed me of this in Dec 2019, and I had in mind to visit the place and look for this shrine, unfortunately Coronavirus had other plans for the nation

What I am trying to say is that Igbos made it way past Ife. Igbos are extremely ancient people

I laugh at the young man. He's been fed with the Oduduwa myth as the origin of his ethnic group. A myth push up to relevance by Awolowo to unite the factional Yoruba clans. The fraudulent history that new Yoruba historian are beginning to question. He's yet to understand that Yoruba history existed centuries even before the arrival of Oduduwa from the east.

This your new twist Lol! I'll give this one a benefit of the doubt. What needs done in this country is massive archeological findings. All the ones done in time past we're carried out by the British. From Nok, to Igboukwu, Benin and Ife. Is it not a shame to this country that after those years, no historian has taken it upon themselves to seek foreign grants to do more.

Binis where an offshoot of Igbos and continued recieving NRI priests for Earth cleansing and other purposes for hundreds of years

The Igbo migrations out of bini where descendants of these original NRI priests and emissaries, they started dispersing from Bini(Iduland) for different reasons and at different points on time

It is actually stupid to ask why other clans of Igbos didn't build empires like the Binis, sounds stupidundecided...The Nris where mainly priestly people and never tried to conquer anybody with military might, The Bini has a long standing tradition of not using the head of any Nri Descendant during the yearly igue(igu Aro) festival.

This why we must begin to promote more archelogical findings and unbiased historical account. Igbo may even be the father of a lot ethnic groups forming lord at us. Our language, culture and artifacts are all ancient, compared to others with fraudulent historical account. I will even suggest we throw the historical account of Isichie, Onwujeogwu to the dustbin, because a lot this accounts are not well grounded but by hearsay. If only a lot of people are aware that Igodomingodo was Igbo true and true, many of us will stop this fraudulent Benin bullcrap.

I think Onwuejuogwu knew about the Igodomigodo/Nri(Igbo) relationship, if I am not mistaking, but he didn't expand heavily on that, as would have been the case, if other civilizations had the evidence.
Unfortunately, Onwuejeogwu, concentrated mainly in Agukwu, and lost out much of the other evidence he could have gotten from other Nri territories. Agukwu people were unaware of the Portuguese visit of Benin in the 1400s and a host of other details that he could have gotten, if he had expanded his research a little more, but Agukwu people still know of the general Nri overlordship of ancient Igodomigodo, Benin, Aguleri and much of Igbo territories
