You christians should stop getting so upset. Nobody's saying that the bible is completely useless. It has some really lovely bits. For instance, the first time I read Ecclesiastes I thought it was the best book I ever read (I was 9 at the time). I still have fond memories of the Book of Jeremiah and I've used the Song of Solomon to butter up a few born-again chicks.

I'm not saying the bible has no worth, clearly it does from a historical and cultural perspective. I just don't think its sane to base your life on it.

It's even more crazy to base your life on the twisted, innacurate, confused interpretations of scripture practically all pastors have accepted as canon. Christianity today doesn't even slightly resemble the religion that Paul and Jesus founded. As for your second question. Yes, I do take blame for my love ones if I am involve in the event leading to that situation in anyway. In fact, most of the people i know do the same. I've got lots of example I can provide.

The idea or concept of sacrificing someone or something on my behalf is quite disturbing. It says a lot about the workmanship of this God of yours.

It has been proven beyond doubt that:

a) There was no historical Moses
b) Since the above is true, there was no exodus (proven fact - two million people can't leave a country with a total population of 3 million without archeological evidence. Christian archaeologists have been digging the whole Middle East for 300 years and they've not been able to find a single prove).
c) a and b above means the first 5 books of the bible are made up. In fact, 95% of the accounts in the bible before Babylonian captivity are false.

So, if someone claim divine powers and knowledge and yet, base all their work on those 5 books and claim to be the son of "God" because he was right there when God was doing all those things means one of three things:

1) he is delusional (schizophrenic?)

i read the Holy Bible from the first chapter to the last several times. Lovely book and full of untapped spiritual truths. only those who have the eyes to see will see and tap the several golden truths scattered throughout the several books of the Holy Bible.

the Holy Bible actually started me on my spiritual journey. the more i read the more i wanted to be like the prophets depicted in the Bible but the question that remained was how can i be like them. what i was seeing in christendom was totally opposite to what i was understanding from the Holy Bible.

My end comes whenever my consciousness stops. Since conciousness is the very essence of humans and that which enables us to perceive the world I guess I won't see anything in the end. You think there is a "soul" that will survive when the brain dies, but your soul is nothing but the conciousness that is the result of a functioning brain, so when your brain dies there is no you to SEE anything in the end.  A person with a dead brain that has been hooked up to a machine to keep him alive is an example of a soulless person because he has permanently lost conciousness and can't perceive anything.
There's no hell and no heaven, just this cold unfeeling universe. Life has no inherent meaning so I can respect the fact that your christians beliefs makes your existence palatable and gives it meaning but I won't respect any part of your beliefs that are rooted in superstitions and self righteous bigotry.

I am not moved. We chastise children for harboring sentiments such as this and yet you as a fully grown adult do so with abandon. I do not waste my time believing in the gospel because it is an illogical, cruel, errant document from an era of considerable ignorance. The fact that it condemns me already is least of the arguments against it. All though it is quite ironic you would say this. You continue to drop words like soul, spiritual, and spirit. Can you provide a coherent definition of what these are because I know of none? As far as I can tell, whenever someone is being spiritual, they just close their eyes, clasp their hands, and tell themselves what they want to hear. They then attribute what they say to themselves to some perceived "higher power" to give extra weight to their own desires.
