i have read the whole thread and find it fascinating that quite a number of people abandoned God after reading the bible. On the contrary, reading the bible has given me a wholesome view of the world we live in, the world in the past, and the future. See folks, when you read the bible, you dont read it literally. you have to read it wholesomely. ok here are a few things i bet you didnt know about life on earth that has already been written in the bible
1, i found out that each man has been assigned 120 years to live on this earth. now if you do a research of the longest living people on earth, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldest_people you will find that it hovers around the 120 year range. now if you dont live up to 120 years ? then you need to start eating right . GENESIS 6 vs 3, MY SPIRIT WILL NOT STRUGGLE WITH HUMANS FOREVER BECAUSE THEY ARE FLESH AND BLOOD. THEY WILL LIVE 120 YEARS.

2, you get to find out that everything that is happening today has always happened in the past. peoples oppression of one another, enslaving people, Gods anger at those who enslave people as you witness their destruction and retribution in the book of jeremiah (USA got some venom coming its way ).

3, you get to find out the futility of life on earth as stated in the book of ECCLESIASTES. like basically everything we do on earth is useless. we are just trying to keep from getting bored. nothing you do is going with you when you die and hence all the titles, names, wealths etc etc are just pointless as it says in the book of ecclesiastes. it says all a man has to do is to enjoy his food, his drink and his work.

I have not but I hope I can in future, bible sweet o0o00, nothing you want that is not there, I think some people are lust to this ugly world

You will be shocked that there can be so many contradictions in single book. Its ridiculous; from contradictions in the sequence of creation to contradictions about the events at Jesus resurrection (number of angels, where and when things happened) etc.
It is a lot like the Nigeria we are determined to rebuild, a stark lie. If you took it to court as evidence, you will be severely compromising your case.

4, got to find out that the real israelites are black people. the sorry state of affairs in the black world today and the cause of our enslavement was because we were worshipping all kinds of idols and killing each other for human sacrifices. it says in the bible that the worshipping of idols and killing each other for sacrifice provokes the lords anger as you see in the book of jeremiah. and his retribution for such was to leave you exposed to your enemies and they will attack you and enslave you and your land will be made a wasteland and there will be plenty suffering (sound famiiar ? ). during slavery times, when the mixed race missionary from britain named birch freeman went to nigeria and dahomey and badagry, he was appalled by what he saw. he was taken into rooms filled with human blood. these rooms were places were human sacrifices were performed. they grabbed someone and then killed him as a sacrifice to a god. birch freeman made it his mission to try to eradicate human sacrifice in africa (during slavery times). coincidence that slavery and human sacrifice was going on at the same time ? i think not,

JEREMIAH24 VS 9 TO 10, I WILL MAKE THEM A HORRIFYING SIGHT TO ALL THE KINGDOMS OF THE EARTH. THEY WILL BE A DISGRACE AND AN EXAMPLE. THEY WILL BECOME SOMETHING RIDICULED AND CURSED WHEREVER I SCATTER THEM. I WILL SEND WARS FAMINES AND PLAGUES UNTIL THEY DISAPPEAR FROM THE LAND THAT I GAVE THEM AND THEIR ANCESTORS

JEREMIAH 15 VS 14, I WILL MAKE YOU SERVE YOUR ENEMIES IN A LAND THAT YOU HAVE NOT HEARD OFF.

JEREMIAH 19 VS 4, THEY HAVE FILLED THIS PLACE WITH THE BLOOD OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. THEY HAVE USED THEIR DAUGHTERS AND SONS AS SACRIFICES TO ME. I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS (this is the human sacrifices birch freeman witnessed)

JEREMIAH 5 VS 19, YOU HAVE ABANDONED ME AND SERVED FOREIGN GODS IN YOUR LAND. SO YOU WILL SERVE FOREIGNERS IN A LAND THAT ISNT YOURS (SLAVERY)

By God's grace, I read da bible cover to cover when I was an adolescent and it was indeed rather scary perusing thru da book of Revelations.

in conclusion, everything that is, was and will be, is in that book. read it wholesomely. and once you read the bible from cover to cover, when you go into a church and listen to a pastor preach, you can pretty much tell which pastor is real or not. if you havent read it from cover to cover and you depend on the itty bitty excerpts that they pull out of it during sermon ? you cant really tell a good preacher from a bad one because you dont have the FULL PICTURE in which to judge if the guy knows what he is saying or not. the FULL PICTURE

but reading with the help of the Holy Spirit which giveth understanding, you will not have any cos to say the BIBLE contradict and moreover the bible is writing with  inspiration from God and inspiration is needed to understand some things there.

and on a side note, a lot of preachers have said drinking is a sin. well they dont really know their bible. many instances of drinking wine in the bible. it says in PROVERBS 31 VS 6, GIVE LIQUOR TO A PERSON WHO IS DYING AND WINE TO A PERSON WHO FEELS RESENTFUL. SUCH A PERSON DRINKS AND FORGETS HIS POVERTY AND DOES NOT REMEMBER HIS TROUBLE ANYMORE.

Kudos to all you who have carefully read and understood the Bible. For those who carelessly read it or claimed they found contradictions, you must ask yourself a simple question. Are you a never-seen-before genius? Are you the smartest man to ever walk this earth? If you think you are, I have no further comments for you. If you honestly admit you are not, then you would consider attempting that exercise again, this time with humility and with prayer to your creator to grant you wisdom to read and understand His word. First and foremost, i'd like to sympathise with you on ur displayed level of mediocrity. Secondly, i'd like to know which version of the bible u read and the specific books and chapters that spoke about the bolded! I have studied the old testament many times and i've never come across any portion that speaks about sacrificing a human being as a burnt offering. Animals like lambs, cows, bulls etc were used for sacrifices NOT human no matter the magnitude of sin committed. Agreed, the old testament contains some laws or punishments for certain offences which are considered violent or out-of-place. But, have u ever asked urself this simple question: Why did Jesus come to die for the world? According to the bible, the simple answer is to redeem mankind! The new Testament speaks about a new life in Christ Jesus. We do not live by the law (old testament) any longer but by grace Roman Ch 8. Please do study Ephesians 2:12-19.
Lastly, that you do not believe in a thing does not make it false. The reason why some people CAN NEVER understand the bible is because they READ instead of STUDYING it. Moreover, the bible is not a story book that you give physical interpretations to, but a divine book and as such needs a divine interpretation and understanding. Remember the case of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in the book of Acts 8:26-39. The man was reading a portion of the bible but couldn't pick a thing until God sent His servant to interpret it to him. It is pathetic that many people are not better-off than this eunuch!
I've studied different portions of the bible and i've never found a conflicting statement or principle. THE BIBLE IS THE MOST COMPLETE BOOK EVER WRITTEN. Take it or leave it! better the former!!!
