Good point you raised here. However, before you go please enlighten me on these points.

How can you differentiate between a " heavenly or unearthly" language as you claimed and a self concocted tongue?

Why is it so easy to find so many Christians speaking in tongues and so difficult or even impossible to find Christians who have the gift of interpretation of tongues? Afterall God gives us these gifts to propagate the Gospel.

Answer me this 2 first.

I think i understand your point now. Your idea of speaking in tongues is that it has to be an earthly language like chinese, Italian etc

In Acts2:6-11, during the penticost day when the disciples spoke in tongues, i believe the Holyspirit enabled them to speak in foreign languages or opened the ears of the foreigners to understand in their own languages with the aim of converting them to christ which was achieved in Act2:37.

There is a different dimension of tongues that is not connected to earthly languages and cannot be understood by men but speaks mysteries in the spirit. Only someone with the gift of interpretation of tongues can explain it. Proof:1corinth14:2,13, 22-25.

There are GIFTS of God's Holy Spirit as well as FRUIT of God's Holy Spirit.

The GIFTS has stopped since 2,000 years ago so don't let anyone deceive you that you can have any supernatural gift because it has ceased! 1Corinthians 13:8-10

But as for the FRUIT of God's Holy Spirit this one will continue to time indefinite that's why Jesus foretold that it's by the FRUIT (not GIFTS) of different sects you will know which is of God and which is not of God! Matthew 7:15-18

The promises of supernatural gifts was for only the Israelites that's why you can never see anyone performing miraculous works in the Bible except Israelites. When Jesus walked the earth he emphatically told a none Israelites woman that supernatural gifts he has was mainly for the benefit of Israelites {Matthew 15:21-24} the prophecies regarding this GIFTS was for the Israelites only {Joel 2:28} at pentecost when this prophecy was fulfilled Peter reminded the Israelites that what they saw in them was what God promised all the children of Israel including those who have ran away due to oppression if they should accept Jesus as Christ the GIFTS will be theirs! Act 2:39

But the only connection between Israelites and this power is the apostles residing in Jerusalem that's why Jesus told them not to leave Jerusalem no matter the persecution from the Jews {Act 1:3-5} so throughout those days most of them were imprisoned and killed! Act 12:1-3

Despite all these the Apostles remained in Jerusalem according to the words of Jesus. Why? Because the power to those gift are tied to Jerusalem! Isaiah 2:3

But later the Christians were scattered when Jerusalem was destroyed in the first century by the Romans the Apostles weren't together anymore and the Jews were hunting them one by one until all of them were killed except John the apostle who wrote the last book {Revelations 1:1} because Jesus had promised him there's an assignment for him! John 21:22


So all those GIFTS ended just as apostle Paul said but the true disciples of Christ continue to have LOVE among themselves as everlasting sign of pure worship! John 13:34-35 compare to 1Corinthians 13:13

Speaking in tongues does not in any way show you are a Christian. Secondly, the Holy spirit dwells in a person the moment the person accepts Jesus as his or her personal Lord and Savior.

Which of the Orthodox Churches practice any of these things after all they've been practicing their faith before all these new generation churches?

In 2011/2012 after i had given my life to christ. A young man in my church asked me if i had recieved the infilling of the holyspirit, i said no. He promised to pray for me.

A certain day, i think on a saturday, after church service, he laid hands on me in the name of Jesus and prayed in tongues.

The next thing that happened is that i got up from the hard floor of the church. I didn't feel any pain nor did i remember falling. I didn't speak in tongues either. But i had a lot of faith and was happy and believed i had been filled with the holyspirit.

I understand that you are aquinted with the spirit once you're born again, but there is an infilling or baptism of the spirit different from the born again experience.(Acts8:15-17)

So, did i recieve the infilling of the spirit at that time? Is it possible to be filled/baptised with the holyspirit without recieving any of his gifts like speaking in tongues?

■ You already have the holy spirit inside of you the moment you originally give your life to Christ and become born again. If you want to experience speaking in tongues then ask God for it in the name of JESUS and you will start speaking in tongues.
