For my data needs, I use Etisalat and Glo mainly. I am attracted to Etisalat for their high quality service and to Glo for their dirt cheap service. But, I have recently realized that Glo has actually been cheating me by making it appear their service is cheap. Actually, when I consider the value I get from Glo, it's actually far more costly than using Etisalat: Imagine that you'd buy a Glo data but for it to connect is a big problem. At other times, it will connect and everything shows it's connected but you can't open a single web page. Some other time, it would let you browse but with very annoying limitations regarding many sites. At other times, it's at a snail speed. These are sites that, once you change to Etisalat, it opens with one touch.

The most annoying part of it is that while all these are happening, Glo keeps spamming you with endless SMSes talking about "SUPER FAST" internet service (all in capital letters). Then, you call their customer care, they keep you waiting for ages. Then, you go to their office, you meet with very rude treatment not expected of customer service anywhere.

From my overall experience with Glo, I can say the only advantage they have is price. But I have realized even that price is deception. I believe the NCC should look into Glo Data service. But, I want first to make sure there is a sizable number of you people who have a similar experience with me. To know Glo is the only indigenous brand of all the service providers in the country and yet, patriotism is not letting them make Nigerians happier with them than with the rest is nothing to write home about. However, as I already said, this is my own experience so far. Let me hear from you guys. I don't think any service provider should be allowed to rip Nigerians off under any guise.

Op u are on point. I dumped my glo line early last year because of their erratic internet. I've stayed in Lagos, Ogun and some parts of east and it is the same everywhere. Their internet hardly connects, and when it does most of the tines it is slow. When it eventually gets fast it will let u browse for a few minutes and then disconnects u. U can't stream with ease with this piece of junk. When u finally think u are streaming, next minute it disconnects u and sometimes u have to restart ur phone for the data to restore only for it to disappear again after a couple of minutes.

I have a friend who was complaining about MTN data speed and price. He told me he wanted to port to glo, I warned him he was jumping from fry on to fire, he didn't listen. He eventually ported (reason for porting was mainly because of internet). This guy almost cried when he found out he needed to fast and pray before his glo line can browse. He eventually got fed up after just 5 days and went to port the same line again to etisalat, now he's enjoying his internet.

But you can't re-port after just 5 days. You've got to wait for 3 months.

Bought their sim three days ago because of their cheap data plans, but i must say the service is really poor.

Switching back to etisalat soon... Quality is better than quantity.

The owner of this post just hit the nail right on the head. Far north here in Kano is the same thing. Its too erratic and fluctuations are just more than an average Nigerian can tolerate. Worst part is they aren't saying or doing anything about it.

In portharcourt, its worst. Sometimes there data signal will disappear for close to 30mins. It's worst. I just remove the sim card though I hv some megabytes on it. Bye bye glo

It depends on the location. When ever I am in Warri I enjoy glo data service a lot...very fast but here in benin its at snail's speed and most times it takes years to connect most especially during the day and evenings.

Glo is definitely the worst network in Nigeria. I now use 2 mtn on my phone. I have stayed in about 4 different states and glo network is the worst. mtn never disappoints and etisalat edge is fast like 4g only thing data is too expensive for etisalat. when travelling mtn has network for call and data almost 2ruot the journey while glo go just show red or sos. they prefer to give artists money rather than invest in their network.

You're right, their only selling point is price. I've dumped the yeye Glo sim after a swap recently - https://www.nairaland.com/2901842/arm-twisting-telecom-operators-rant-globacom -. They call it High Speed Internet (HSI), I call it Snail Speed Internet (SSI). Glo is a disgrace and NCC won't do jack because Glo is Nigerian. NCC overlooks Glo's poor performance to encourage it. MTN especially won't get away with 0.100% of what Glo does or doesn't do to its customers.

@OP, supported. Glo internet is horrible in port Harcourt. Have tried it several times and always run back to etisalat. They know their network is crappy hence the plenty data they give. But what is the point if no one can use it. Quality is indeed better than quantity.

mtn also try wella seriously, even Airtel is better than glo only thing if u use 20mb Airtel will remove 100mb from ur data

From ma own observation, GLO is Location Dependent and can be frustrating sometimes... In ma area tho, GLO is a Beast, It connects flawlessly..

Don't turn off your data o...if you do, it would take 3 hours and countless restart to get it running. Glo should be #1 in Nigeria, but they lack leadership.

Glo is gradually packing up, the only network I rely on is airtel.... Steady H+, followed by etisalat.

As an IT Consultant, many people have approached me to recommend a good Internet Service Provider. My first question to them is "Where would you be for the most part of your day?"... I say authoritatively that Glo has the best facility for Internet Service in Nigeria but their specialized data carrier is not everywhere, just like ALL other providers. Because we are in Nigeria, we all need to make a little findings before deciding on which service to go for. If you are lucky to be within the areas where Glo 3G/3.5G network is superb, then I say congratulations to you because you'll enjoy excellent service at low price.

Back to d topic, ionno what you guys are complaining about cos since I've been using Internet enabled phone(around 2011), it has always been Glo and I've never seen any reason to complain. Their H+ is as fast as light and even areas where there is no H-network, the E-network is working to satisfaction.

About the intermittent network, I guess it's cos of the level of technology in the country as it also affects other networks(most especially MTN).

Leave story Jor, In Nigeria fast network depend on location, forget the price and study where works for each sim... I stay in 3 Different Location...

Airtel rocks in one, Mtn follows but not stable, No GLO NO Etisalat


MTN, Etisalat are very fast in Location two but Mtnbis more stable and also bless us with cheats to download sometimes

The third place Glo and Etisalat rocks but Glo is cheaper so I opt to them, I believe its same everywhere. Just study before subscribing...
