Hello everyone in the fta family!
I pray I am not the first topost in this new season because the first post should not be a cry for help which I am about to do but a vote of thankx to the Almighty for granting us freedom to share and enjoy fta to the max. However, I have a very pertinent problem on my hands which I really don't know how to solve and I don't know if anyone has experienced this.

I replaced my Strong SRT 4653X with a Srtong SRT 4663X PVR and updated it using the software from strong-technologies.com using my usb flash memory. But, after the installation the decoder went off and refuses to power on. When I turn it on from the back switch, the lines of the front window panel come on and go off. The file I downloaded is SRT4663X_Software_Softwares_Middle East & Africa.stb. Now, does it mean that the decoder has been destroyed? The second mistake I made was that I haven't copied out the system information for the decoder. Is there any way to salvage the situation? I really need help and I pray I haven't destroyed my decoder. My e-mail ad is lovala@yahoo.com or lovala123@gmail.com

while basking in the euphoria of season 4, we should all take some time out and reflect on what direction we want to go with this forum.
Lately we have had an explosion of johnny come lately self styled affecianados of the fta satellite tv who in the main just waffle.
I suggest we all think seriously about this and conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with the goals of this forum.

The possibilities of gettin' 12 channels of multi tv direct using daarsat kaon without applying srt decoder {mpeg2} is there i.e that daarsat kaon can decode both mpeg4 & mpeg2 @ the sametime.daarsat is a very ok kaon.

I dont just know why some people are so deaf to the issue of decoder upgrade. Whats their aim? No one should come here again with such complaint.

So glad we made it to season 4.

I hope these time around we would have the patience of going thru previous post and using the search engine @ the bottom of the page.These will save us the stress of repeating the same answer over and over again. I pray we have a season of great breakthroughs and less quarrels on this thread.To all our ogas dem make na no relent in na effort.

@ cantel, my reply aint directed at u, so just take ur time. When mistakes are made by people, this is to serve as a warning to those behind not to fall a victim. It is an act of stupidity not that of courage to fall a victim. I myself, olatiler, pito e.t.c have made this mistake. The question is why did he upgrade the decoder in the first place?

Pls where can I buy a compass and diseq 1.2. I have checked round Oshodi market more than three times now, it was only the diseq I got and its different from the picture attached by u earlier in the past threads. The one I saw was black and big, am just confuse. Pls help. Twintaiye are you there?

I help my neighbor re-align his dish for MyTv yesterday night. After successful tracking, I discovered a strange behavior of his Strong SRT 4661X.
When powered on, the receiver stays on for less than a minute and automatically powers off. You need press the power button on the remote again for it to come on, and sometimes switch off and on from the rear to put it on again. This was not so when I was doing the tracking.
What could be wrong house?

That decoder is in its dying days. Most probably the board has been impacted by
flash voltage.

You can only get the diseqc 1.2 positioner from selected stores. The common type of stand alone (black) positioners are what is available in most others. Try and link up with Dejsam in Kano to send you one if you really need it.
As for the compass, go to any shop selling land survey equipment and ask them for it. You should get a good one for at least N3,500.

You probably have a fake Decoder. If you are so sure you have an original one, take it to any Strong outlets, they will work on it for you, but they will surely reject working on it, if it is a fake. Goodluck pal.

The general rules in any forum is, you either help or just ignore it. I have times without number ignore questions, simply because I found it ridiculous. Having said that, on my several visits to other Satellite TV forum, especially on their Satellite chats thread, everyone can ask questions anytime and anyhow, and I had seen them replied by the so called gurus of such forum.
In another development, I want members to open new thread since we now have our own Section. For instance, any area of Satellite you know you are good at, you can open a thread just like Enitan did for newbie. We have the whole of this Satellite TV section to ourselves, let us utilize the opportunity.

what u need to do is what twinstaiye have just said above.and if u have the required materials for loading the firmware,then u can reload the right firmware.

what happened to ur receiver is that u loaded the wrong firmware.but since it still displays light infront of the receiver when u power on,these are the things u need:

1-RS-232 CABLE WHICH MUST BE A CROSSED ONE.

2-STRONG LOADER.

3-THE RIGHT FIRMWARE.
